Matt cleared his throat. "Hi, my name is-"
"I already know your name, son," the man said, cutting him off. "Matthew Sanders, leader of Avenged Sevenfold. I've heard things around. Good things. Which is why I called for you here today. I need to ask you a favor."
Matt's brows furrowed. A favor? What kind of favor could this man want of him? He was clearly just as capable of taking someone down as Matt, so he didn't need him for an assassination. What could he possibly want from him? Money? He could give him money. "Okay," he finally mumbled, warily.
"Good. I need you to marry my daughter," he said. When he saw the look on Matt's face and realized he was about to object, he raised his hand to silence the boy. "Let me explain. My daughter is in grave danger. I've gotten word that the men who kidnapped and killed her mother long ago are coming back for her, and I can't protect her. I couldn't protect my wife, I can't protect Aubree. You see, my powers were taken away from me. I'm a mere mortal now. The first in this land. I'm a great target, as is my daughter. I hear your gang is very good at doing your job, and you're the best in the business as of right now. I will pay you in return, until I can figure out a way to end this once and for all. Do we have a deal?"
Matt was completely taken back, speechless. He didn't know what to say. This was all very hard for him to process. Marriage? But what about his current girlfriend? What about his life? He wasn't ready to devote his life to protect someone else. "I-I'm unsure," he said.
"The payout will be very good, trust me," the man said. "Please, Matthew. I'm begging you, and I don't do this. I need someone like your gang to protect my daughter."
Matt bit his lip hard, wanting to ask if it was necessary that he had to marry the girl, but he had a feeling there was something more to the story about these men that played into that. "I guess," he mumbled. "We have a deal."
