Make Me Like You

Aubree didn't want to let go. It felt really good to be doing what she was doing, it was hard to stop. She grunted and put her hands down, her eyes going back to normal and the vines disappearing. She glared at the men over to the side. She wasn't crazy, at least she didn't think she was. She tilted her head to the side as she watched the other man begin to heal Matt, finding that pretty cool. Aubree shook her head, rubbing her forehead and sitting on her bed. She was feeling extremely light headed all of the sudden and she wasn't sure why. Maybe it was from all the extreme power she had just got done using? Who knows, but she was kind of irritated that she couldn't finish them off. She told them that she was capable of protecting herself, no one would listen.

  • Matt had Brian and Zacky take the men down to the basement, which was easy since they were all winded and weak from what Aubree had done. He cleared his throat as he looked over at her. "Are you okay?" he asked, reaching down to adjust his towel which had come damn near close to coming off. He walked over and sat beside her, but made sure there was some space between them. "I've never seen anything like that, you know. What you did with the plants, I mean. I've seen witches and faeries use magic to move plants, but you literally spawned vines from nowhere. That was crazy." It made him wonder if maybe she was some sort of hybrid, because even with nymphs, which were very rare, he'd never seen them be able to just spawn things like that.

Aubree furrowed her brow as she looked over at him, scratching the back of her head. "I can control pretty much anything involving nature," she murmured, biting down on her bottom lip. "I've never really done anything that intense before, though. I've never really had the chance to actually use my powers to their full potential," she said with a sigh, rubbing her eyes. She felt completely drained. At least now she knew that she was capable of a lot more than she thought she was. She was beginning to wonder if there was something more to her than just being your average nymph. Maybe that was why all these people were after her. "But anyways, I'm fine. I'm sorry you got stabbed, that looked really painful," she said, frowning. "We should um... We should probably get dressed," she said, looking back and forth between their towel clad bodies. It was a bit awkward talking to him like this while they were both covered in towels. It didn't help that he had a really nice body and she wanted to see what was underneath that towel.

  • "Oh, uh, yeah," Matt mumbled, standing up. "Sorry." He walked to the door and looked back at her. "It's not the first time I've been stabbed, and it probably won't be the last." He chuckled awkwardly before he left, shaking his head. He walked into his room and shut the door, quickly pulling some clothes on before he sat on his bed, sighing contently. Even though Brian had healed him, he still felt exhausted from the fight that had ensued, and he needed a little rest. Today had been a day from hell, and he was just hoping that now Aubree wouldn't be so cruel, and she would calm down a bit. Because if she acted the way she had a few minutes ago, he could learn to tolerate her. But if she continued being arrogant, he wasn't sure what would happen.

Aubree sighed and shook her head, getting dressed and climbing in her bed. She buried her face in her pillow, groaning. She just wanted to sleep forever. Her first day here and someone already found her and tried to kill her. Or kidnap her, she wasn't sure what they were trying to do. Aubree reached over and turned out her light, deciding she was going to turn in for the night. She had already had a really long, exhausting day and she didn't want to bother with it anymore.

    [next day]

Aubree woke up feeling a lot better than what she had last night. She got dressed before heading downstairs for some breakfast. She rummaged around the kitchen, finally deciding on some cheerios even though they were pretty bland. She was a terrible cook and definitely wasn't going to burn their nice house down trying to feed herself, so she'd settle for cereal. Aubree made herself a bowel before sitting at the table, happily eating. She began to wonder what she was going to to today, hoping there wasn't as much excitement as their was yesterday. She finished her bowl of cereal and got up, putting her bowl in the sink before going outside to the garden and trying to see how far she could go with her powers.

  • Matt woke up the next morning and yawned as he stretched out, getting out of bed. He walked down to the basement after getting dressed, frowning when he saw three empty chairs tossed over, covered in rope. He rushed upstairs, looking around before he went outside. He spotted Aubree in the distance, in the garden, cursing under his breath. How the hell did those men get away? And why hadn't they taken Aubree? Oh well, that only meant they were going to strike again in the future. But at least he could be prepared for it now. He made his way over to the garden, standing outside the fence and watching Aubree. Sometimes he wished he had magical powers, but he was happy being a wolf. Going for runs were literally the best feeling in the world, so he couldn't complain much. "Morning," he finally spoke.

  • Aubree jumped when she heard someone say something, gasping when the flower she was messing with died. "Oh," she murmured, frowning. She turned around, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked at Matt. "Good morning, Fido," she said with a small sigh. "How's your side?" Aubree couldn't help with the names, it was just who she was. She had this defense system that she made for herself. Be sarcastic and mean and then she couldn't get hurt. Only one time had she let her guard down and it definitely didn't end well on her end. She got completely screwed over, her heart broken, and half of her father's staff killed. That was a time she'd never forget.
    October 10th, 2016 at 09:09pm
  • Matt rolled his eyes when she called him Fido, tempted to just walk away. "I'm fine," he said. "And my name is Matt. I call you by your name, so I expect you to call me by mine. If you won't respect me, then I'm not going to respect you. Am I clear?" Without waiting for her answer, he walked away, back inside the house. He figured since he'd basically saved her life, she would be more grateful and appreciative of him, but clearly he was wrong. She was the same, sarcastic, annoying little brat she had been yesterday. And he wasn't going to put up with it much longer. He had no patience and a short fuse, and if he got angry enough, he would seriously end up killing someone. And that someone would probably be her.

Aubre raised a brow, following him. "Aw, are you mad?" she asked, a bounce in her step. She scrunched up her nose, scratching her head. She really should apologize, but it was kind of a hard thing for her to do. Here goes nothing. "Look, I'm sorry. Its a habit. A sort of a defense thing, if you will. I can't help it, you just gotta throw it right back at me," she said with a small shrug, making a mental note to really work on her bad habits. Eventually she was definitely going to piss off the wrong peroson around here and that wrong person was going to be MAtt. WHo knows what he would do to do if she ended up blowing the wrong fuse. He seemed to be one with a short temper. Aubree looked over when Brian, the man from the window and the one who healed Matt, came up beside them. "Matt, we have a problem. Those guys from yesterday? Yeah, they left for reinforcements. Johnny says they're about a day or two out and there's a half a dozen of them. Either we stay in fight, or we go to the safe house," Brian said in a panic, his eyes wide. Aubree tilted her head to the side, crossing her arms over her chest. She kind of wanted to laugh. Second day here and they already had to relocate. This must be some major serious shit.
    October 11th, 2016 at 05:54am
  • Matt could sense Aubree's attitude at Brian's words and he looked at the man, shaking his head. "We're not going anywhere, Brian. They might be bringing reinforcements, but we have a whole pack. They caught us off guard yesterday, but next time we'll be prepared. Nobody runs us from our own home, do you understand me? We are Avenged Sevenfold. Nobody is breaking us." He didn't really know why Brian was panicking. He was usually the one who was the most cool about everything, and it wasn't like their home had never been invaded before. They'd seen so much shit in their days as a pack, it was unreal. And if they needed to, they could always call on the other members of the pack. It wasn't just the five of them, there were others. The others just had families, and Matt didn't follow the rules of the pack like he should. Everyone was supposed to stay together, but he allowed people freedom. He was just that kind of guy.

Brian nodded, biting down on his bottom lip as he turned and walked off, rubbing the back of his neck in a nervous fashion. It was very obvious that Brian was worried about this situation and it made Aubree wonder why Matt wasn't. "Are you Alpha?" she asked, furrowing her brow. Come to think of it, Aubree didn't know anything about anyone or this place. If someone had already told her that he was, she totally hadn't paid attention, but she was sure they hadn't. Man, if Matt was alpha, that was a huge deal. Being protected and marrying an Alpha was almost like marrying a king. At least thats how Aubree thought of it. When she was little and her mother used to read her bedtime stories, she always enjoyed the ones of the wolves. She loved the whole idea of finding your mate. She thought it was so romantic. Aubree figured that Matt's girlfriend was his mate by the way she acted. But then again, if she really was, she would have done a lot worse than scratch Aubree's face. At least if it were Aubree, and she were Matt's mate, she'd probably kill, not just scratch.
    October 13th, 2016 at 08:14am
  • Matt nodded his head at Aubree's question. "Yeah," he said. "Have been for quite some time now. Feels like a lifetime, but it's probably only been a few years. My father was alpha before me, but he was killed in an attack, so I took his place." He didn't know why he was telling her this, it was really none of her business. But he guessed since she asked so nicely, it wasn't that big of a deal. He thought for a moment and looked at her. "Do nymphs run in packs or groups? Or are they usually loners?" He didn't really know too much about nymphs. They were kind of rare nowadays since the species was dying off, so coming across one was pretty unusual. But he guessed Aubree was unusual in general.

Aubree frowned, knowing what it's like to lose a parent. It was so hard. When she lost her mom, no matter how old she had been, it still feels like yesterday and her heart breaks everyday. If she lost her dad she didn't know what she would do. That's why she absolutely hated the business that he was in. Dealing with so many dangerous people all the time terrified her. Aubree shrugged at his question, sighing softly. "Nymphs control certain aspects of the earth. They had a community within their element. Unless you're me and keep finding a new element that you can control every time you turn around. Now we just go and join other society's that'll take us in so we won't be alone I guess." Aubree never knew what it was like to live in a Nymph community. To be surrounded as the same kind as you and to feel like you weren't some weird thing that stuck out like a sore thumb.
    October 17th, 2016 at 02:29pm
  • Matt nodded his head. "I get it," he said. "You know, if you treat everyone here the way you want to be treated, you'll fit right in. Wolves have really bad tempers, but we're also very loyal. If you're one of us, we look out for you, no matter what. And we expect it to go both ways too. You never break a wolf's trust. If you do, you'll regret it." He wished she had a community she fit into, but all he could really do was try to make her feel at home here with them. Which was going to be very hard if she kept acting like a child. He just had to think of the bigger picture, which was to protect her, to keep her safe. Saving a life was more important than anything.

Aubree smirked and bit her lip, holding back the dog joke she wanted to make. She really wanted to fit in here. If she was going to get married to this man and make this her home for a while, she needed to stop putting up so many defenses and just be herself. It was going to be hard, but she knew she could do it. "Thanks," she said softly, giving him a small smile. "Why would you leave your dog outside when we're about to get attacked," The man with the green eyes said, a beautiful lab trotting along beside him. Aubree gasped, bending down and petting the dog who happily accepted the affection. "You are such a cutie!" She cooed, wondering why she hadn't met this adorable baby earlier.
    October 17th, 2016 at 03:08pm
  • Matt chuckled softly as he watched Aubree with Bella. "Her name is Bella," he said before looking up at Zacky. "I didn't know she was outside. You know how she is, she goes in and out as she pleases, just like the rest of us." Before Val came into the picture, Matt had needed a companion. Of course he'd had the guys, but he needed someone he could just sit and relax with and go on runs with. A best friend. And he'd found an ad in the paper for puppies, so he'd went, and he and Bella had clicked instantly. He bought her and took her home and he'd had her ever since. She was the perfect pet, and she was a total sweetheart to new people. He couldn't imagine his life without her now.

"We are totally going to be best buds while I'm here, yes we are, oh yes we are," Aubree cooed, giggling as Bella got more and more excited. She was just too adorable. "Oh my goodness gracious, I just love your dog," she said with wide eyes, looking up at Matt. Aubree had always wanted a pet, especially a dog. But with the ways things always were at home her father would never let her have one. He said that she didn't want her to get attached to something only to have it ripped away. Aubree completely understood in the long run. What if they had gotten invaded and they killed her pet? Aubree looked down st Bella, frowning. Where does Matt put Bella when they're under attack? Is she somewhere really safe? Aubree shook her head, her eyes widening when she heard some kind of god awful noise come from outside. "Oh god," she said, looking around and holding onto Bella.
    October 18th, 2016 at 09:25am
  • Matt raised an eyebrow at Aubree. "It's nothing," he said. "There's a lot of wild animals around here. It was just a hog." He snapped his fingers. "Come on, Bella. Inside." He watched her pull away from Aubree and run inside. He looked at her. "You coming? I think we're gonna make breakfast." He was starving, he wasn't sure about her. He walked inside, knowing that if she wanted to, she would come in as well. He still felt like they were safe here, so he wasn't going to act like they weren't. He knew if he felt any bit of uneasiness, that he would do something about it. But right now, he didn't feel that way. He felt totally fine. So he wasn't going to worry about it.

Aubree sighed and followed inside, deciding a little breakfast wouldn't hurt. She was getting nervous about the apparent attackers that were on their way, but if Matt wasn't worried about it then she shouldn't be either. Aubree walked into the kitchen and sat at the breakfast bar, totally willing to make herself her own meal but she had absolutely no idea where anything was. "Mind giving me a tour of the kitchen?" She asked Matt once he entered. Aubree wasn't the best cook in the world. She was never allowed to really use the kitchen, or really leave her room. So she's never had any practice with it. It was better late than never to get started on trying to change that though.

  • Matt nodded. He showed her where all the food was located. They were pretty stocked up. Wolves had quite an appetite, so they usually had to keep a lot of food in the house, especially since there were five of them. Matt could probably eat five steaks in one day and still be hungry. But it all worked out since they went on runs often, and worked off all the food they were eating. And they had fast metabolisms. "You don't have to cook," he said. "I know how to cook. I planned on making breakfast." He opened the fridge and grabbed out the eggs and the bacon, turning the stove on. "How do you like your eggs? Scrambled? Over easy?"
