Let's Get Where We're Going

  • Castiel gave a shrug of his shoulders at the mention of Chinese, figuring that the food could be no worse or stranger than the pizza he had last ate. He couldn't wrap his head around why people would be tomatoes and cheese on a piece of dead. Huffing at the thought, Castiel shook his head, turning back toward her when she returned to the bed.

"Don't worry about what your brothers will think, Kinsley. As long as you are happy, in the long run, they should be happy as well. Right?" Castiel asked, raising an eyebrow as he studied her features.

  • “You would think that theoretically that should be happy, right?” Kinsley laughed, pulling her feet up and sitting cross-legged on the bed. “But then again, they are my brothers. And I am the little sister. So they are always going to be looking out for me.”

Kinsley turned to Castiel, a wicked grin on her face. “Plus I don’t think Dean want’s me to interfere with the man who,” she cleared her throat and pulled her best imitation of the mans voice, “raised him from perdition.”

Kinsley giggle lightly. “No, but seriously. They think I don’t know how to take care of myself.”

  • Castiel scoffed, shaking his head as he gave a wave of his hand. "There's no way that I would ever hurt you so that worry isn't something that we even need to think about," he explained, reaching up to brush his fingers through her hair. He smiled a bit uneasily, only to start laughing at Kinsley spoke.

"Best imitation of your brother that I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing. I'll have to remember to tell him about it sometime," Castiel teased, tilting his head to the side. "It's not as if I would be hindered by your presence so any sort of worry he has is beyond ridiculous if you want my opinion on the matter."

Castiel straightened a bit as he studied her. "I'll teach you some things, if you would like me to."

  • Kinsley loved this version of Castiel. No, not the graceless version. The version where he didn’t have a worry in the world. The version where her brothers didn’t have him wrapped up in some type of predicament. The version where he didn’t have the highest of business to attend to in heaven. He was just Castiel.

Kinsley couldn’t help but stare at the angel. She smiled softly at him, her hand reaching out and rubbing the stubble on his face. “What kinds of things do you think you could teach me, Cas? I’m a human. I don’t have graceful powers like you, angel.”

  • Castiel looked up to Kinsley, a frown forming on his lips as he caught her watching him. He tilted his head to the side, opening and closing his mouth several times as he tried to figure out what she was thinking. He could have gone the easy route and just listened to her thoughts but he felt like that was invading her privacy on a level he didn't quite want to do.

"Yes but I could get you an angel blade. It would be hard work, sure, but it would make you safer, wouldn't it? That way your brothers wouldn't have to worry quite as much about you," Castiel reasoned, his eyes searching the room as if something on the wall would give him the answers he needed. "If you're okay carrying one, of course."

  • Kinsley bit her lip as she listened to Castiel speak. She never thought she would be in this predicament, but she was. Kinsley loved the fact that Castiel was so concerned about her wellbeing. The only other people who felt that way was her brothers and her father. Kinsley nodded her head to everything that Castiel was saying.

“I don’t see why I wouldn’t be comfortable carrying one. I already carry a plethora of guns and knives. What could it hurt to have an angel blade on me, then?” Kinsley smiled at Castiel. As she looked at him, she could tell he was finally healing. When this realization flooded her mind, she became a little uneasy. What if when Cas was finally at full force, he didn’t feel the same way about her? How stupid would she look then?

  • Relief flooded Castile as Kinsley agreed to carrying the blade. He hadn't honestly thought she would say no but he wasn't about to force her to carry one either. There was quite a bit he didn't understand about humans but it seemed that consent went a long way with them and he knew enough to know ignoring simple things like that would do no good in whatever was blossoming between the two of them.

"Good. I'll get you one as soon as we meet up with your brothers. We can wait until I return to you to tell them, if you want. Whatever works for you," Castiel spoke quietly as he ran a hand through his hair. He flexed his hair, frowning slightly as he looked over to her.

  • Kinsley shrugged her shoulders as she stared down at her hands. Would whatever this relationship was between them put a target on her head? Would other angels try to stop it? Would Castiel be in trouble? The last thing that Kinsley wanted was to make this more complicated than it needed to be. She was already dealing with her being a human dating a celestial being—an Angel of the freaking Lord.

Kinsley let out a small huff at the mention of her brothers. She was a Winchester, wasn’t she? Why couldn’t she pretend not to give a flying fuck on the outside like the others did? She smirked at her internalized thoughts. When she snapped out of it, she looked at Castiel and nodded. “Whatever works for you, Cas.”

  • Castiel scoffed, giving Kinsley a hard look as she responded to him by just repeating his words back to him. He gave a shake of his head, wondering if he should bother pointing it out. He decided against it, figuring that it wasn't worth bickering. She may take it a bit too personally and he didn't want to start them off on the wrong foot.

Reaching out, Castiel set a tentative hand on her knee. He wasn't used to this physical contact sort of thing but it seemed to be something humans liked and why not? "Can you tell me what it's like? To be human?"

  • Kinsley set her hand atop Castiel’s, enjoying the feeling of his hand on her. She smiled at him when he asked her that question. “Confusing at times. Lots of different emotions you can’t control, cravings. And then there’s thing like this.”

Kinsley motioned between the pair of them. “Feeling a bond so strong with someone you hardly know what to do with yourself.” She laughed lightly. “But sleeping is nice. It’s my favorite escape from this world. Don’t have to worry about anyone, anything… Just me and my dreams. Unless you get a nightmare, then that isn’t normally too pleasant.”
    January 26th, 2017 at 04:03am
  • Castiel's face scrunched at Kinsley's words. He gave a shake of his head, scowling a bit. "I do not imagine that any nightmare could be pleasant. I mean, is that not the very definition of what a nightmare is? An unpleasant dream? Even if it is something minor like receiving a case that you do not want to work on or something terrible like being unable to save a brother or sister."

He wasn't entirely sure what humans would deem worthy of a nightmare but Castiel was used to following orders. A case that he didn't care to deal with was the least of his worries but it was still unpleasant so it had to be classified as a nightmare... right?

  • Kinsley laughed as she watched Castiel’s face as he processed the things she had told him. Sometimes she envied Cas. He was such a literal, logical person. He had no need to dabble in emotions or pick and sift through hidden meanings.

“Yeah, nightmares aren’t a cool thing.” She mumbled. There was a knock at the door, presumably the food that she had ordered. She shrugged at Cas, ending their current conversation. She got up from her seat and walked over to the door. She got the food and brought it inside, setting it up at the small table in the corner of the room. As she pulled everything out, her thoughts were still on what if Cas changed his mind.

“Cas?” she asked quietly as she pulled out the chow mein. “What if… What if when you are back to full strength, you don’t necessarily want this anymore?”

  • Castiel stood, making his wave over to the tiny table in the corner of the room while Kinsley gathered the food. He was quiet as he watched the girl interact with the delivery driver, watching the man warily. Castiel was still weak, it would be so easy for someone to be alerted to his whereabouts and then what? What would happen?

His thoughts occupied him even as Kinsley closed the door and began pulling out their food. He looked up with a small frown when he heard her speak.

"Why would that happen? You are the first girl that I've wanted to come into a relationship with and I have no intention of ending that any time soon."

  • Kinsley knew that Castiel was a caring person, but she didn’t necessarily know if angels could feel the desire to be with someone else. She was unsure of how this whole relationship was going to play out when Cas got his grace back up to full speed. She didn’t want to say all that though, she didn’t want to offend Cas—sometimes he could get his feelings hurt quiet easily.

“I dunno, Cas.” She murmured quietly as she looked down at her food. “Angels are just a lot different than humans and I guess I am just a little nervous, ya know? I don’t wanna get hurt is all.”

  • Castiel let out a quiet sigh as he reached over, wrapping an arm around Kinsley's waist. He pulled her to him, setting his head on her shoulder. He was quiet as Kinsley spoke, shaking his head as she fell silent all over again. "We are different, yes, but isn't that part of makes us great? Isn't that what... people say?" Castiel asked quietly.

"I don't want to hurt you, Kinsley. I will never hurt you," Castiel's voice grew serious, deepening as he promised that he would never hurt her. Breaking his word was something that was absolutely out of the question for Castiel. Even with a blade to his neck, he would not hurt her. Ever.

  • Kinsley grinned at Cas, her hands finding their way to the sides of his face. She pulled him in for a kiss, her lips soft against his. The kiss only lasted a few seconds before she pulled away. Kinsley sat down in one of the small dining chairs, motioning for Castiel to sit at the other one.

“I know you aren’t up to full grace,” Kinsley pointed out as she began to eat. “Might as well try and eat some of this food that I ordered.”

Kinsley’s phone vibrated in her pocket. She dug into her jeans, pulling the phone out. She glanced at the screen, a text from Dean coming through letting her know that him and Sam were on their way. “The boys will be here ina bit,” Kinsley mentioned through a mouth full of food.

  • Castiel wasted no time in piling on food onto his plate, having never really experienced Chinese food before he was more than ecstatic to try this time around. He shoveled the food into his mouth fairly quickly, not really bothering to wait to actually taste the food before he swallowed despite his original excitement.

Looking up when Kinsley fished out her phone was enough for Castiel to pause, his attention now focused solely on the girl.

"Sounds good. I will leave promptly after they arrive since I know you won't be alone," he explained quietly, setting his plate to the side. Castiel stood, beginning to ready himself.
