"You wouldn't have been the first wolf to force himself on me," Quinn admitted. She wiped her tears from her face and adjusted the blanket covering her body so he could get to her arm, hoping he wouldn't question her about what she had said.

Matt handed her the pill and the glass of water. "Here, this will help with the pain," he said.

Quinn took the pill, dry swallowing it and drank the entire cup of water. "Are you the only one without a mate," she asked softly.

Matt nodded his head. "Yeah," he said. "I just haven't found the right person." He looked at the time before glancing down at her. "Feel up to going home now?"

Quinn nodded. "I was only supposed to be gone for a few hours," she stated. "If I hadn't felt so weak I would have tried to leave sooner," she admitted.

"You should have just shifted back," Matt said. "I would have taken you home." He stood up and gently lifted her into his arms, carrying her out to the car that everyone used if they needed to go out into the city or somewhere far from home. It would be faster to get her home this way.

"I haven't had very many good experiences with your kind," Quinn admitted. "I figured it would be easier to pretend I was an injured wolf and disappear into the night back home once I was better."

"I'm glad I found you," Matt said. "Your wounds would have gotten infected."

"Thank you," Quinn mumbled. "I would have never forgiven myself if Larkin had been left all alone because of some hunter trying to kill me." She leaned back into the seat of the car, gripping the blanket to make sure it covered her body as she moved. "Are you their alpha?"

Matt nodded his head. "Yeah," he said, following the path she'd mentioned earlier.

When her house came into view Quinn noticed something off about the house. "Stop the car," she exclaimed. She barely waited for Matt to before she ran off towards her house, slightly limping as she did. She rushed to the front door, her body tensing when the front door was slightly open.

"Larkin," she called out.

Quinn felt a huge wash of relieve when her son ran to her and crashed into her legs. He looked safe but extremely scared. "Thank god," she sniffled. "I'm so sorry baby. I'm home now."

"We were scared you'd never come home mama," Larkin sniffled.

Quinn opened her mouth to ask who Larkin was talking about when a shifted werewolf form she hadn't seen in almost six years began walking towards the house from he woods. Larkin's father, Corey Taylor had found her.

Matt got out of the car and followed Quinn, following her gaze to the other wolf. He knew instantly who it was. He glanced back at Quinn. "Is he the one?" he asked.

Quinn felt tears fall down her eyes, nodding her head as she picked her son up and carried him inside. She needed to pack as much of their stuff as she could and run. She would be damned if Corey tried to worm his way into her life again, especially since Larkin was now involved. "Stay right here while mommy gets dressed," she ordered. Quinn got dressed quickly and had Larkin help her pack up his clothes while she did the same with her own. She knew she only had a little bit of time thanks to Matt being there.

Matt growled lowly, glaring at the other wolf. He watched as the other wolf backed away and stalked off into the woods. He might be gone for now, but he would certainly come back. Matt walked inside. "Why don't you come stay with us?" he suggested. "There are more of us and it's better to be surrounded by people than to be on your own."

"We need to get far away from here," Quinn stated. "If I stay with your pack bad things will happen and I don't think I can handle that on my conscience." She finished packing up her clothes and Larkin, shoving the two duffle bags in her car before she began grabbing some food and her hidden stash of money and personal documents she needed.

"We can protect you," Matt said. "There's five of us and one of him. Is a life on the run really what your son deserves?"

"You don't even know me," Quinn stated. "Why would you risk the lives of your pack and their mates for me and my son."

Larkin watched his mother and the werewolf talk, his blue eyes flickering back and forth between them before he tugged on the wolf' shirt to get his attention. "Can you carry me," he asked. "Daddy had me run around with him all night looking for mama."

Matt looked down at the little boy. "Me?" he questioned. He'd always been kind of awkward around children, since he wasn't used to being around them.

Larkin nodded. "Momma has to get things in the car and I'm tired."

Quinn watched her son interact with Matt and sighed softly. "Baby go take a nap in your room," she stated. "We'll come grab you when we're ready."

Larkin shook his head. "Daddy broke the lock on my window and now it won't close."

Matt bit his lip gently and reached down, picking the boy up. "I don't mind," he said. He looked at Quinn. "Please just come stay with us."
