Abby looked at Carter confused. She looked up at him. He wanted her to come with him and it would be protecting Alex. How could she say no to that? Abby nodded and looked at Alex placing a kiss on his cheek. "You will be safer this way. It's time to retire old man." she whispered to him even if he was passed out she choose to believe he could hear her. Abby stood and turned just in time to see Carter punching Logan. "Carter!" she bit her lip stepping back. She only remembered one other time he had been like this and it set her body to shake. She wrapped her arms around her hands trying to get herself to calm down. Luckily Harper was handling it. When Carter stepped back she stepped forward taking his hand in hers looking up at him. "Carter?" she whispered sounding scared. She had never been away from Alex and out from under her parents before. she was scared to go off like this.

Logan wasn't about to complain about the pain when Harper's lips met his. He smiled softly and brushed a tear back. "Of course. You did nothing wrong anyways." he trailed his hand down her arm and took her hand. "But now you have to go because when the cops get here they will fid out who the metas are here and I don't want them to get the wrong idea. You'll be safer for now if you left." he whispered and closed his eyes. "I will miss you Harper and if you are ever in trouble and need me all you have to do is call and I will come. Promise me if you need help you will call." he pleaded and looked up into her eyes. Logan was more in pain letting Harper go than he was from the beating he had deserved. Some where inside he hoped Carter would see he could easily plead Harper to stay and she would but he pushed her to go not only for her own safety but for her happiness too.

Carter growled at Harper as she stopped him, he wanted to pummel him some more. But he knew that he couldn't or her wouldn't stop. And he could let her see what he did. Turning to face Abby, he noticed the way she was slowly falling apart. Pulling her into his arms. "It's going to be fine." He told her, placing his head on top of her head. "You'll see him again I promise." He told her, knowing that she'd made it possible for him to get Harper away from Logan and he'd repay that.

Harper lip trembled as he spoke to her, "I'm leaving." She told him, know that it was enough to be sorry for. After all the kindness he'd shown her she was throwing it back in his face as she fled from him. "I'll miss you too," she admitted, finally coming to terms with her feelings. "I promise." She told him, before leaning in and kissing him again. Her hand gently cupping his cheek, pulling back she rubbed it before standing. "Good bye." She said before moving to his brother and Abby, both of them quickly leading her out of the area. She threw a look back at him feeling her heart sinking. But she had to go, she couldn't stay any longer. "Where are we going?" She asked as they headed back towards the cafe they were at. "I snatched Alex's keys, we'll get as far out as we can with it then ditch it." He was already planning the next three steps. Nibbling on her lip she slid into the back seat of the car once they reached it. Once the car pulled away she let her tears loose, she couldn't explain the pain she was feeling. Relaxing into the seat she dropped the purse Logan had given her, having completely forgotten it was there. But with all the excitement there was an indention still left in her hand.

Abby melted into Carter as he put his arms around her. She nodded and leaned her head on his chest. When Harper joined them they all went back to the car skittish and a little beaten up. Abby sank into the passenger seat beside Carter to give Harper her privacy. Abby closed her eyes after buckling up. She knew Carter would want to talk about what he saw sooner or later and she hoped it was when they had some time alone. After all she had just meet Harper. Abby could feel her body starting to heal but she yawned and leaned her head against the window and slowly falling asleep. She needed the rest and with Carter she knew she would be safe.

Logan laid there as he heard the sound of sirens. He hoped Harper got away alright but knowing Carter she would be safe. He would take care of both those girls and they would be better for it. If ever they met again he expected Abagail and Harper to be different then the women that left here today. He was put in a gurney and taken tot he hospital where they healed him up and cleaned him up. The police took his statement and then he was allowed to go home. When he arrived to the house it felt... empty. More than he had ever experienced before. Logan sighed and went to his students and sat down his throat tight as he looked at the door remembering Harper having come through it just that morning.

Carter watched the road as Abby slowly fell asleep, his eyes would flicker between the road and her, then to Harper. He hated seeing her so broken and he knew it was his fault. "You said you didn't love him." He said, watching as Harper's blood shot eyes meet his in the mirror. "I don't know any more." She told him, "after everything that's happened I just don't know." She said her voice horse. "I'm sorry I made you choose me." He told her his eyes returning to the road. He hated knowing he'd cause her pain. "Tell me about him." He said to her hoping to understand how her sister could have feeling for the man. But as she started launching into her story he knew that the man had treated her better than he had. He'd given her things that they'd never had. And it hurt to know he was taking her away from that. "He really did that?" He asked his eyes shot back to hers in the mirror. "Yes, he was very kind and sweet. I can't even begin to tell you what all he's done." She shook her head. "He told me to go though." She felt her heart hurt, "instead of asking me to stay." She felt more tears slip down her face. "It sound like love, if you ask me." Carter said to her, before looking over at the woman sleeping next to him. "You should get some sleep, I'll wake you once it's time." He told her. She just nodded before cuddling up in the seat and drifting off.

Abby woke and it was dark. They where still driving and her belly grumbled again. She frowned and rubbed her eyes. "Where are we?" she asked sleep still clear in her voice. Abby looked over at Carter illuminated by the controls on the car. She sat up slowly and bit her lip. "You alright? I could drive for a while if you need a break." she said. Abby had never been out this late before. They had always gotten where they where going or stopped somewhere for her to rest. Abby saw some water and leaned forward taking a long drink from it then sighed and sat back feeling a little better. "How long was I asleep?" she asked and looked out the window seeing as easily as she had in the day. She knew it wasn't normal but it was weird to be in the car at night seeing things she had not seen rom out her windows at night, or out on walks at night. Abby looked at Carter again wondering if he would say anything and she looked back at Harper wondering if she was okay. It had been a very big day for all of them.

Carter looked over at her offering her a small smile. "Some where north." He told her, before signalling to get off the road they were on. "I'm fine." He would be fine until they stopped to get another vehicle. He felt a bit awkward talking to her. Knowing their was something hanging in the air between them. "About seven hours, give or take." He told her. Knowing that they'd been faced with a lot and they needed their rest. He pulled into a rest stop. "If you need to go to the bathroom, now would be the time." He told her. Before leaning between the seat, shaking Harper. "Wake up." He told her, knowing he'd need help stealing a vehicle and getting their stuff loaded. But judging by the looks of things they'd have to find a different place to snatch a car.

Harper yawned as Carter shook her. She sat up slowly noticing where they were. She got out of the car, before stretching. It had been a while since she'd slept in a car. Nibbling on her lip she thought over Logan and if he was going to be okay. She didn't want to hear he'd passed. She wouldn't be able to deal with it. She took off towards the bathroom, needed to use it before they got back on the road.

Abby nodded and got out of the car stretching. She would need to change into more street cloths anyways. She went into the trunk getting a change of cloths and a toiletry bag. She would have grabbed a change of cloths for Harper too but Harper was much smaller than her. Abby had that amazonian build and Harper could nearly be a fairy. Abby headed into he rest stop bathroom. She went to the bathroom, changed then stood in front of the mirror and cleaned herself up trying to cover up the black eyes she was getting. Her head was throbbing so she took some medicine and then sighed hoping there was a vending machine around here somewhere. Abby smiled and pulled out her wallet seeing the vending machine. She got some food and sodas for all of them. Once she slipped back into the car she felt better. She waited till everyone was back in the car offering the refreshments to them. She tried a s mile at Carter but it was really odd now. She knew they sooner they talked about it the sooner things the tension would ease.

Harper exited the washroom, before heading back to the car. "I'll drive." She told him, as he tried to get in the drivers seat. They would need to ditch the car soon or Alex would find them. Harper could tell by how antsy her brother was it would mean the man would stop at nothing to get Abby back. She slid into the driver seat, before smiling at Abby. "Ready for some fun?" She teased, boosting cars was her favorite thing to do. After all her brother taught her well. And with her ability it made starting them a breeze. Starting the car up she pulled out, before heading down the road. Her eyes lit up when she noticed a sign stating the nearest town was seven miles away. She followed the sign to the town.

Carter thanked Abby for the food, he smiled at her. He could tell that it was bugging her, and she wanted to talk about it. So he'd send Harper to get a car and they'd get a chance to talk. He needed her to be okay, or this was all for nothing.

Abby smiled as Harper got into the front seat. She was like a ball of sunlight. Abby nodded. "How are we going to do that hough?" she asked cluelessly making them all snicker. Abby looked back at Carter blushing as she handed him some food and a drink. They drove through the dark and Abby couldn't help herself she had to know about Harper. "So you're gifted like your brother?" she asked curling her feet into the seat as she watched Harper drive and the emotions that played over her face. "When did your gifts show up?" she asked. Abby sipped her sprite and held it between her hands grateful for the food in her belly. She had so many questions but a lot of them she was afraid would make Harper and Carter sad. She knew their parents where killed so asking about their past was difficult but Abby was still curious. She blushed again pausing to actually let Harper answer her questions.

Harper smiled at her, letting out a chuckle as she asked how they were going to have fun. "We'll play I spy." She teased. It was to dark out for anyone to see actually colors. Though she wasn't aware of Abby's gift. Though she was thankful when the conversation started up. "You can say that," she smiled as she focused on the road. She chuckled before looking over at Abby. "I don't remember honestly." She let her smile falter as she turned her eyes back to the road. "I was so young when they appeared, all I can remember was the look of dread on my mothers face. She never wanted this life for her children." She shook her head. "But it's a blessing yet a curse." She told her truthfully. She shrugged not liking the direction the conversation was taking. "What exactly do you see in my brother, by the way?" She asked, teasing yet she was curious.

Carter sat in the back of the car munching on his chips. His eyes focused out the window. Though her was very much aware of the conversation going on in the front seat. He raise a brow at his sister question about him. He knew that they would get along, he was just waiting for the moment Harper pushed the wrong button and made Abby clam up. He knew that Harper fooled people well in thinking she was innocent. But she was a force to be reckoned with. And being able to manipulate people emotions she normally was able to get them to trust her quickly and make them spill their guts. It was one of the reason why she was such a good bartender. Though her powers were still under developed, as Carter hadn't had a lot of time working with her to tune them.

Abby frowned and bit her lip. She didn't want to go down the past and looked out at the road. When Harper asked her question Abby turned bright red. "Oh uhh." she glanced back at Carter looking out the window and then back at Harper. "I-I don't know what you mean exactly." she said then bit her lip. "But I guess I think he is kind, and honest, and I like the way he sees through people's crap." she laughed at that part herself. "It's easier to be yourself when someone can see when you're not being yourself and call you out on it." she shrugged not sure what else to say. She could go on more but the more she thought of it the more complexed her feelings got about Carter. "So what exactly are your gifts? I know you influence emotions you did it earlier to me but whether you meant to or not I am not sure, I was seeking comfort." she admitted with a blush. "But you are more than just that aren't you?" she asked and sipped her drink. She was probably being rude but she was no longer in a place of power over anyone and she finally felt free to ask these questions and fully expected people to tell her to shove it if she went to far.

Harper chuckled, before shaking her head. "He's like that we new people, you'll get to see he's an ass hat in no time." She smiled before taking an exit that lead them toward town. She shrugged hearing her question about her gift. "I only have one gift," she corrected. "Though it seems like more, because the mind is a vast thing that controls everything." She knew that she wasn't able to explain it. But she would try. "The emotions is an easy thing for me, when I was little hugging people that were upset I just thought hey hugs make people happy. But it was me. But it wasn't until I got older that I realized it was my gift." She chuckled knowing it sounded stupid, but it wasn't until after they'd left their family that Carter had made her aware of it. He pushed her away when she tried to hug him for being sad. 'No I don't want you to change my mood.' He yelled at her. She sighed, hating thinking back. "But I'm still learning to develop it. I've got the touch thing sort of under control, I was a bit of a mess back there and I didn't realize I had done it to you." She chuckled. "But sorry getting side tracked." She laughed. "My gift, is like being able to use all five senses in myself and others, I can make someone see something that's not there, usually a mouse." She heard Carter laugh from the back seat. "It's really hard to explain because when you tap into your brain and unlock all of it, the possibilities of what you can do are endless."

Abby listened interested. She smiled. "I didn't mind at the time." She soothed sensing that Harper had some emotions about unknowingly changing moods. Abby turned to Carter as he laughed and smiled. She loved to hear his laugh. "You trained her didn't you?" she asked. It seemed like something Carter would do. She wondered now that he knew if he would train her to. She bit her lip. Abby really was glad she got to see the relationship and love between Carter and his sister. She knew they would be spending a lot of time together the three of them. They pulled into the city and Abby turned looking out the window wishing she could roll down the window and stick her head out. "You know I have only beed out of the city once." she said and turned looking at Carter knowing he knew which one time she was talking about.

Harper let out a laugh at Abby question. "You can say that." She told her, before looking at her brother though the mirror. "Carter's got a fear of mice." She teased him, knowing she was giving Abby ammo. She smiled when he glared at her. "Don't you even start." He warned, knowing that Harper could embarrass him easily. "She's always been a pain in my ass." He told Abby. They sat in silence for a bit, before noticing the lights of an on coming town. He listened to Abby as she mentioned them leaving the City. Smiling at her, he then looked down at his hands in his lap. "That was fun." He told her, loving their time together. Harper noticed her brother getting sky, shaking her head she scoff. "Typically I leave you along and you start breaking rules." She rolled her eyes teasing her brother.

Abby giggled as she listened to them. She watched Carter get shy and smiled softly her face taking on a soft glow of adoration as she looked at him. She really cared for Carter. Abby blushed and looked away. She bit her lip as they drove in silence. Abby sighed as they pulled over and it had finally sunk in. They where about to steal a car. She wasn't sure how that was going to keep them off the radar but then she had never done this before. Abby looked at Carter as they gathered their things out of the car. She leaned against the car her things beside her. She watched Harper's retreating form into the darkness. Abby was silent for a while watching Carter as he moved finishing his task. "I didn't know how to tell you." she said finally and looked down at her feet. "It wasn't like it was easy to just pop up in conversation. Besides I wasn't sure if you would be around long. I knew you wanted to get your sister back and get back to your old life. I knew you weren't happy with me no matter how I tried to make it work for you." she said and bit her lip and shoved her hands in her pockets finally looking up at him again. "I'm sorry Carter..." She said searching his eyes trying to figure out how he was going to react. She had never told anyone and was received with anything less than fear before but Carte was gifted he wouldn't be afraid of her right?

Harper pulled the car over onto a little beaten off path, something that was close to town. Once out of the car she hugged Carter, before takening off into the dark. She didn't bother to hide seeing as she was alone on the road. Running down the road, she entered a small neighbor. Her eyes had already adjusted to the dark so spotting a car was rather easy. Though finding on that didn't have a tracker on it was, a bit more difficutlt. Crouching closer to the ground she snuck through the neighborhod. Moving through the darken streets, she stopped when she noticed a Tahoe. Moving up to the car, she touched it, sighing happily when the alarm didn't sound. Sneaking up to the driver side door, she tried the handle. Surprised when the light from inside kicked on. Pulling the door open the rest of the way she jumped in. Reaching her hand out touching the dash off the car. She sent a vibration toward the started. A smile appearing on her face once the vehicle roared to life. Quickly putting the car in drive she took off driving towards where she left her brother and Abby.

Carter listened to Abby as she spoke, he pulled the luggage out of the trunk pilling it up. Letting her finish talking closing the trunk. "You've got nothing to be sorry for," he said taking a step towards her, before placing his hands on her hips. "I don't care if you have a gift, and that you didn't tell me." He smiled before brushing his hand against her jaw. "As far as I see it was a need to know basis." He stroked her cheek. "And you're right we don't know each other all that well. But now we've got to trust each other, more than ever." He pulled her into his arms holding her to his chest. "So promise me, we're past secrets okay." He pleaded with her, knowing that if they didn't trust each other then everything would fall apart.

Abby looked up at him his touch comforting. She closed her eyes tilting her head into his hand. She looked up at him and nodded. "No more secretes." she promised and leaned into him closing her eyes as her hands ran up his back. She sighed. "I want to tell you of my powers but now is not the time. When we are settled I will show you." she said and looked up at him. "For now all you need to know is that anything a normal person can do I can do better." she leaned up on her toes and kissed his temple then looked over as headlights came down the road. "Times up." she said and sighed looking at the last of her connection to her old life. "Also we should think about how to find or get Harper some new cloths. Trying to move stealthy or blend in while you are in a dress is hard." she said and smiled at him. Once Harper pulled up Any helped Carter load the car then slipped into the back letting Carter sit in the front with his sister. She knew they must have missed each other. Abby took out her mp3 player and put it in her ears as they started down the road. She turned the music up until they could hear it like a chipper of crickets. She wanted to give them time to talk too. Abby laid back and looked out the window in the back.

Carter smiled at Abby as she suggested they buy his sister clothes. "Will figure this out." He told her, before moving to start loading items into the back of the vehicle. He walked with Abby towards the front of the car, surprised when she jumped into the back. Carter sighed knowing that he and Harper needed to talk a bit. But he really didn't want to right now. Sliding into the seat next to his sister he chuckled watching as she fidgeted. "What's up with you?" He asked, then a boot landed in between their seats. Shaking his head he lifted it. "Really?" He asked before placing it down in the back floor board. He shook his head before letting her take control of the vehicle and drive them back towards the city they just left. It was their hmo. Leading them anyone following them in circles, they'd give up before they found them.

Once back to her brother she watched as they loaded up their stuff into the back of the car. Nibbling on her lip she sighed, her feet started hurting back in town. And it wasn't until now that she remember she was wearing her boots. Leaning down she started to take them off, hearing the doors close. She looked over at her brother as he laughed at her she rolled her eye before throwing her boot at him. Then removed the next one. Once she was comfortable she sat back and started to drive. "Logan has a thing for high fashion, or maybe it just me in it, I don't know which." She teased her brother knowing he didn't like her talking about Logan. "But I'd rather talk about the two of you." She threw a look over at him. She could hear the soft lull of music coming out of the back seat. She smiled at him, "you took her out of town for the first time."

Carter threw a look in the backseat noticing Abby looking out the window. "Well you know I was sent to protect her." He sighed, "but I didn't think it'd be like it has, her own aunt tried to kill her, and a so called friend of hers tried to rape her, drugged us." He shook his head trying to keep his anger at bay. "We laid low after I killed him, we got to know each other." He smiled, "she said she'd never been to a carnival, so I took her to one." He beamed to himself remembering the great time they had.

Abby drifted in and out of sleep as the night went on. She had never felt so relaxed. Maybe it was being around Harper or knowing Carter was in control. Or maybe it was that for the first time in her life she was actually free. She could be whatever she wanted, do what ever she wanted and when they found a place to settle into for a while she wanted to show Carter what she could really do. She knew it was kind childish wanting to show off but she had never been able to before. She was always told to keep her gifts a secret and under control. But if she really let herself explore what she was able to do maybe she would learn something. Abby had always learned about her gifts by mistake except for one. She had searched once for her powers when she was alone in the woods taking a walk. It had made her afraid to ever try it again. She bit her lip now as she thought about it in a moment of being awake looking out at the stars. Abby wondered how she would fit in with Carter and Harper. She was sure that it would be weird being in their pattern and trying to figure out where her piece fit in but she still felt like if there was anywhere she belonged that it was with them.
