When We Were Young

Ryan pulled into the diner parking lot and parked his car He turned the bike off then waited for Claire to get off before he did. "Alright lets eat." He said walking inside with her. He sat down at the table, grabbing a menu. He smiled as an older lady came to the table, "Hey Ryan. What can i get you to drink sweetie." She asked. Ryan smiled, "Just a coke please." he looked at Claire as she ordered her drink, then looked over the menu.

Santana smiled as Julie got in the water, "Now we are having fun." She said smiling as she hugged her best friend. She let go of her and looked over at Jake and Mike. She was happy about how the night turned out. Santana climbed out and sat on the edge of the pool.

Claire sighed when the bike was shut off and got off of the bike, her converse making a light thud when they hit the ground. She looked at the Diner and smile dsoftly. She followed him into the diner before sitting across from him. She looked at the lady and just gave a small smile to her. She hummed as she pondered over what she was going to order. She settled on ordering a tea and then commenced to looking over the menu. She set it down when she found what she wanted. She was just gtoing to get a burger and some fries.

Jake rolled his eyes at the girls before continuing to wrestle with Mike. He took a swig of beer before just looking up at the sky. He was suddenly attacked from behind and laughed before dunking his ass underwater. "Man you know I'm stronger than you@" He laughed as he did so. He felt his legs go out from under him and came back up and tackked him.

Ryan looked at her, "So what are you going to eat?" He asked. He decided to get the fried chicken and french fries. He watched as the drinks were set im front of him. He let her order, then ordered his food. He looked at Claire and smiled, "Im glad you came with me." He said, smirking.

Julie looked at him, "You guys are so dumb." She said, shaking her head. Santana laughed as shw watched the guys. She finished her beer and set the empty can down. Santana watched as Mike stared at Julie. She thought it was cute that he liked her.

Claire blinked looking up at him and meeting his gaze with ease, "A burger, I think." She told him with a small smile. She beamed at the tea and sipped it happily before ordering her food. She listened to Ryan order and hummed softly looking out a window gently. She heard him and turned to see his smirk and raised an eyebrow, "Why is that?" She mused softly figuring she might as well mess with him. She let her chin fall into her hands as she looked up at him through her thick lashes.

Jake shrugged hearing her and said, "I mean. Maybe." He laughed and just messed around with Mike for a bit. After a bit he noticed Mike just staring at Julie and he chuckled shaking his head at him before taking his shirt off since it was just weighing him down in the water. He set it to the side before getting the great idea to light a firework right beside them and watch it go into the sky.

Ryan smiled, "Well you have been avoiding me for almost two years now." He said, as he took a sip of his drink. He watched her, "How was your practice?" He asked. Ryan had never been one for sports. He mostly got drunk and hung out with his friends. Ryan liked to keep to himself. He looked around them, then looked at her. She was so beautiful and he couldn't get enough of her.

Santana watched as he started to get another firework ready. She watched as it went of, loving the sight of it. After a bit of drinking Santana was surprised to see Julie drunk. Santana looked over, her eyes widening when she seen Julie making out with Mike. "Dear god." She said, laughing. She got to her feet, "I think we need to get Julie home." She said, looking at Jake who was not happy. Though she could tell that he understood the two were drunk.

Claire shrugged and said, "And you've been asking me out constantly for two years." She watched him for a moment before turning to look at the night sky a small smile filling her features. "Tiring. My legs are killing me." She confessed. "Not only were we doing a whole bunch of runs and plays, but afterwards coach makes us run 2 miles." She sighed shaking her head. "I understand the whole endurance thing, but 2 miles is kind of unnecessary." She complained. She had never gotten drunk and didn't really hang out with people except for at her soccer games and whenever she got asked to a dance or somewhere with someone who didn't just want her for her body. She met his eyes for a moment moving her short brown hair away from her face gently.

Jake laughed seeing Julie drunk but was not happy when he saw Mike making out with his baby sister. He grumbled under his breath rolling his eyes. He sighed hearing Santana and nodded. He got Mike and said, "I'll take you home, man." He said with a tone of voice that meant he wasn't arguing. "You go ahead and take Jules home, I've gotta drive this shit home." He nodded his head before helping Mike out and getting him into his car. He drove to his place before catching a ride home. He sighed as he walked through the door and up to his bedroom.

Ryan looked at her, "You choose this for fun?" He asked laughing. He was glad when their food arrived. He took a sip of his drink and began to eat. Once they finished he relaxed against his seat. "Well I guess i should take you home." He said as he paid the bill.

Santana nodded and helped Julie to the house. Once her friened was in bed she got changed into something dry. She walked into the bathroom, brushing her teeth and getting ready for bed. She walked out, smiling when she seen Jake, "Get him home okay?" She asked.

Claire shrugged and said, "Besides the running it is fun, well for me anyways. Getting to just not think for a bit is bliss." She murmured looking out the window. She ate her food slowly wanting to savor the flavor. Once she was done, she wiped her mouth off with a napkin and took a last sip of her drink. She was about to pay for her meal when he paid for both of theirs and blinked. She shrugged and said, "Do you even know where I live?" She teased. She checked her phone seeing that her friend had texted her and she ignored it for the time being. She thought it rude to text while speaking to someone.

Jake yawned once inside and looked up hearing Santana, "Yeah. I didn't drink much knowing he'd get drunk. And there's no way he's staying in our house for the night while drunk." He told her before popping his neck and leaning against the wall crossing his arms over his chest smirking as he towered over her. "You're so short." He snickered.

Ryan shook his head, "No, but you can tell me." He said as they walked out. He walked to the bike and offered her the helmet again. "Where to?" He asked. He felt better kmowing she wasnt walking home.

Santana smiled as she looked up at him, "That may be true, but i can still kick your ass." She said, crossing her arms. She looked at his tattoos, then looked back at his eyes. She couldnt get over how hot he was.

Claire nodded and said, "Alright, then. Beats walking." She told him. She walked outside to his bike with him and told him her address. She put the helmet on again and got onto the bike after him and closed her eyes liking the feeling of the wind in her face. When she felt the bike stop, she got off once more and handed him his helmet again and said, "Thanks for the ride home. Same time tomorrow?" She questioned setting a hand on her hip. She was whopping 4'9". She ran a hand throughout her hair to smooth it out.

Jake snickered and said, "I doubt it." He winked at her before shrugging. "I did boxing for years." He told her. He then saw the time and yawned but looked back down at her. He had noticed her eyes wandering across his body and couldn't help the smirk that crossed his features once more. "See something you like?" He asked raising an eyebrow at her.

Ryan smiled as he took his helmet from her, "Yea i will see you tomorrow." He said before he put his helmet on. He waited for her to get inside before he headed over to a friends to party. The next day Ryan showed up late to school, hungover. He sighed as he sat in his seat, crossing his arms. He looked over as Claire sat im the seat next to him.

Santana smiled, "Maybe." She teased him. She could tell he was tired, "I can tell you are tired though, so maybe another time." She said, patting him on the arm. She squeezed by him and walked towards Julie's room. "Goodnight Jake." She said. She waited til he went to walk by before she grabbed his arm and pulled him to her. She leaned up and kissed him leaning against the bedroom door. She pulled away, looking up at him.

Claire waved and murmured, "Goodnight, Ryan." She went into her house and closed the door before heading up to her room. She sighed laying on her bed and checking her text messages. She went to bed and woke up and got dressed. She grabbed her bag before leaving her house and walking to school. She made it to first block and sat down at her seat before letting her bag fall to the floor. She noticed Ryan looked hungover and turned to look out the window lightly.

Jake smirked hearing her. He nodded shrugging. "Alright. Night." He told her and started towards his room. He felt her grab his arm and blinked looking down at her before feeling her kiss. He raised an eyebrow and then smirked before saying, "Can I say I win yet?" He asked before shrugging and heading into his room and shutting the door. He smirekd to himself happily. He was getting closer.

Ryan rested his arms om his desk, then put his head down to try to sleep. He really shouldnt have gone out last night. He hoped it passed by the time he had to go study with Claire. She would not want to deal with that. As the bell.rang he got to his feet and walked out. He got to his locker and talked with his one friend.

Santana flipped him off, "You will never win." She teased him. She went to Julie's room and laid down, slowly falling asleep. She woke up the next morning when she heard Julie moving around. She got dressed then walked downstairs. She got a bottle of water, smiling as she heard Julie say something smart to Jake about being a dumbass. Santana sat at the kitchen table and ran her fingers through her hair.

Claire saw him from the corner of her eye and almost giggled but controlled it knowing he was probably in severe pain from his head. She was cute today and super glad that she had gotten up early enough to dress like this. She hummed softly and ran a hand throughout her hair. She heard the bell ring and stood up before making her way into the hallway. She stopped by her locker to get some books and looked up hearing someone say hi to her. She almost groaned seeing it was Drew from the lacrosse team. He leaned against her locker trying to get her to go on a date with him. She held her books to her chest and just politely spoke to him, looking like she just wanted to escape at that moment in time.

Jake snickered shrugging. "I just did if you kissed me, San." He waved before going to bed. He woke in the morning and snickered even harder hearing Julie downstairs trying to find some advil. He came downstairs and rolled his eyes when she started to just fuss at him and saw Santana from the corner of his vision and just focused on Julie as she called him a dumbass. "You know for a fact i'm not stupid." He told her his body going rigid as he looked down at his sister his eyes suddenly turning cold. He shook his head and shouldered his way out of the kitchen and towards the living room.

Ryan frowned when he seen Claire talking to Drew. He could tell she was uncomfortable so he decided to help her out. He walked over to her, "Can i talk to you?" He asked, watching as Drew backed off. Everyone was scared of him on the school. He walked with her, "You like that guy?" He asked as they walked. He couldnt help but feel kind of jealous. He hated that she had that power over him.

Santana watched as the two argued and sighed. Julie looked at Jake, "You dumb mistakes say differently!" She called after him. Santana got to her feet, "Alright lets go." she said. They were going to get breakfast at the place in town. Santana stood near the door waiting for Julie to get her stuff. She looked at Jake when she felt him look at her.

Claire looked up seeing Ryan and almost sighed with relief. She was probably the only person in the school that stood up to him or wasn't scared of him. She didn't see any reason to be scared. She nodded gently hearing his question. She waved to Drew politely before quickly hurrying to catch up with him. She walked with him and shook her head gently, "No. He just likes me." She sighed shaking her head. "He makes me uncomfortable." She mumbled softly frowning to herself as she walked with him. She had to look up at him to meet his eyes.

Jake sighed before shaking his head and just ignoring her. He hated the fact that people thought he was stupid. He wasn't exactly just a genius, but he wasn't dumn in school or in stret smarts. He just didn't care about his grades to be honest. They didn't matter to him. He slammed the front door and headed to his impala and got in shutting the door and driving off. "Fucking asshole." He mumbled under his breath.

Ryan nodded, "Dont worry i think i scared him off." He said smirking. He walked her to her next class and looked at her. "I guess i will see you later." He said. He headed to his next class, thinking about Claire. After school he went home and got ready to go study with Claire. He showed up at the library when it was time to meet Claire. He sat down at the table and waited for her.

Santana spent the day with Julie, then went their separate ways. She stopped at the local coffee shop and got a latte before walking it. She was surprised to see Jake and his friends leaning against his car down the street. She sighed and started walking towards her house. She knew Julie was mad at Jake but she didnt understand the fighting.

Claire nodded and murmured, "Thanks." She told him sincerely. Drew really did make her uncomfortable. LIke if he didn't get his way, he'd force it. She looked up once she was at her class and waved and said, "See you tonight." She then went into her class. She sighed going to practice afterwards and saw the time and saw that it had run late. She managed to get to the library in a pair of nike shorts that stopped short of her butt and a crop top because those were her work out clothes. She had her bag with her and rushed in and said, "I'm sorry, practice went on extremely late." She told him sitting down across from him.

Jake laughed with his friends outside of a tattoo parlor while one of his friends got a tat. He looked up seeing Santana and smirked before walking over to now being walking beside her. "Hey there." He said. He had watched his friends smoke, but decided he didn't want to no matter what effect it gave him. He didn't want lung or gum cancer. Fuck that. He looked down at her and said, "Whatcha been doing all day?" He raised an eyebrow at her.

Ryan shook his head, "Its alright." He said, smiling at her. "So what did you want to start with?" He asked. He couldnt get over how amazing she looked. Even if she just got done practice. He had it bad for her and he couldnt help himself. Ryan pulled his eyes away from her and looked at his books, opening them up.

Santana was surprised when she heard Jake's voice. She looked at him, "Nothing really just ate breakfast with Julie and did some shopping. Now im going to go get some take out chinese and go home." She said, shrugging. "What have you been up to?" She asked, feeling his friends staring at them. Santana took a sip of her latte as she looked up at him and listened to him talk.

Claire nodded and stretched before humming hearing his question, "I dunno. That's really your choice since you're the one who knows your best." She told him looking up as she wiped away some sweat from her forehead and put her hair up into a tiny bun at the top of her head and took her own book out opening it. "Science today?" She asked him blinking. "I have a game tomorrow, by the way so I can't come." She bit her lip.

Jake noticed her surprised features and smirked a bit. "Take out chinese? Hmm. Sounds fun." He shrugged before blinking hearing her question. He felt his friends staring at them and tilted his head at her, "My bud is getting a tattoo right now. We're just waiting for him. My other friend's dad owns the shop and gets us free tats whenever we want. My mom hates it." He laughed running a hand throughout his hair.
