When We Were Young

Ryan nodded, "Science is fine." He said. "Thats okay. i am hanging out with some friends tomorrow anyway." He said as he pulled his pen out. He looked at her, "How was your night?" He asked. He was sure she didnt do much after he dropped her off. He liked to think that anyway. Maybe she went somewhere, but she didnt seem like the type.

Santana nodded, "Yep, i'm super interesting." She said, smiling. She looked at his friends, "Planning on getting another tattoo?" She asked him, looking back at him. "We both know your mom loves that." She teased him. Santana loved all of his tattoos. They made him look even more amazing. She thought about a conversation she had with Julie earlier. Her friend had told her not to talk to her brother because he was only after one thing. Santana wasnt about to give him that either.

Claire nodded and said, "Alright. Chemistry?" She asked him knowing she was in AP chemistry.She blinked hearing him and nodded, "Be careful not to get into too much trouble." She teased softly smiling gently. "It was uneventful. I went to sleep." She shrugged. "Might do something tonight." She said, hoping to see some kind of reaction from him. She didn't mind messing with him since he had been messing with her for years. She really wanted to go swimming to be honest. She felt eyes on her and looked up to see a lot of frat guys looking at her and blushed looking back down.

Jake laughed and said, "I know." He mused for a moment and shook his head hearing her question. "Not today. I need to sketch one up first, or have an artist sketch something I like. The only place left on my torso is on my ribs." He said to her. He then frowned and said, "What does Julie say about me because I know the things she says aren't nice. Nor are they completely true. She just likes to think they are." He said before shrugging.

Ryan smirked, "Well what exactly are you doing?" He asked her. He was curious about her life and what she did. He knew they were complete opposites, but something about her made him want her. "You will probably get in more trouble than me." He teased her as they went over the work. He looked at her, "Unless you want to do something fun with me." he suggested, smirking.

Santana looked at him, "I dont think i should really tell you. Besides its not a big deal. You guys fight enough as it is and i dont want to be another reason for that." She explained. She felt him staring at her, "She just doesnt want us talking is all." She added. She figured she should be honest with him. She tool a sip of her drink, feeling his eyes move over her. She wanted to be with Jake but at the same time she didnt want to make Julie mad.

Claire raised an eyebrow hearing him and knew she had him wrapped around her finger at this point. She smiled soflty, "I dunno yet. Just something where I'm not cooped up inside." She told him shrugging. "Oh sure." She said rolling her eyes. "How much trouble do you get in on a day to day basis again?" She retorted gently. She checked his answers as he watched her and looked up catching his smirk and smiled looking back down at her paper and said, "Oh? What do you consider fun Mr. Williams?" She asked him looking up her emerald eyes shining.

Jake nodded and muttered, "For the record she always starts everything." He sighed rubbing the back of his neck as he stretched a bit leaning against the side of a building as he spoke with her. "She never wants me talking with anyone she knows." He murmured honestly. "She doesn't like the fact that her friends like me. She can't stand it." He chuckled and shrugged for a moment. "Eh, it's whatever. Just don't let her make your choices for you." He turned around lifting a hand to wave bye to her. "Catch you around." He flashed her a grin.

Ryan smiled when she asked him what he considered fun, "Anything that makes me feel like i'm not wasting my life away." He said. "I consider you fun." He added as he leaned back against his chair. Ryan thought for a moment, "So do you want to do something fun tonight or not?" He asked her as he set his pen down. "As friends..nothing more." He added. He knew that going on a date with him was a big no for her. Ryan smirked as he waited for her answer.

Santana gave him a small wave, "Bye." She said before she went on with her day.

That weekend, Santana walked up to Julie's front door and knocked. She had concert tickets to see a rock band downtown and had convinced Julie to go. That was one way they differed. She liked rock music and Julie was into pop or hip hop. She smiled as Jake answered the door, "Well hello there." She teased him, smiling. She walked inside, "Julie!" She yelled for her friend. She had never acted like a guest there anymore because she had spent so much time at their house. Julie groaned, "What!" She yelled back, standing at the top of the stairs. "I don't wanna go." She said, laughing. Santana narrowed her eyes, "But you are because you owe me for seeing that crappy pop star three months ago." She said. Julie sighed, "I hate you." She said, walking away to get her shoes. Santana looked at Jake, "Wanna go along? I have an extra ticket. Emily bailed last minute to go out of town with her skank boyfriend." She said, smiling. She waved the ticket in his face, "It's going to be fun." She sang cutely.

Claire watched him letting her chin fall on her hands and nodded and said, "I feel that." She then blinked hearing him say he considered her fun and rolled her eyes but smiled nontheless. "Cheesy." She murmured and blinked hearing his offer and considered it before sighing, "Yeah why not. I need to change first though. A quick shower would be ncie." She said shruggging. She watched him smirk and threw a pen at his face. "What are you smiling at?" She teased knowing he had gotten his wish since day once. She would actually hang out with him.

Jake heard a knock and opened the door to see Santana and whistled at her smirking. He shrugged laughing and said, "Hey." He said before stepping back allowing her to let herself in. He was dressed like normal just a pair of jeans and a tank. He stretched gently poping his back. He heard Julie and raised an eyebrow hearing them go at it and chuckled before hearing Santana and nodded saying, "Sure I have nothing better to do tonight." He said. He heard her and smirked.

Ryan laughed, "Something amazing." He teased her, "Now that was cheesy." He said, smirking as he gathered his things since they were done. He put his things in his bag, "I will pick you up in about two hours." He said. He threw his bag over his shoulder and pulled his key to his bike out of his pocket. "Bye." He said before he left. He went home and got changed into a pair of jeans, white tshirt and a leather jacket. Ryan pulled up to Claire's house, smiling as he seen her. He offered her a helmet, "Have anywhere specific you want to go?" He asked. He wanted to make sure that she had fun.

Julie walked down, frowning at the two of the, "Ugh you didn't." She said, glaring at Santana. Santana smiled, "Oh but i did." She said. She watched as her friend frowned, "Oh come on. It's gonna be great." She said, looking at the two of them. "Well for me anyways." She said, giggling. They waited for Jake then walked out of the house. Once they got to the club and got inside Santana looked at Julie who just looked miserable. Santana looked at Jake, "Thanks for coming." She said, feeling his body close to hers. "I will be back." She said, moving away from the two to go get drinks. Julie looked at Jake, "I swear to god you better leave her alone Jake." She said, glaring at him. "She doesn't need you fucking things up." She muttered. She crossed her arms, hearing him say why, "Why? She's my friend. You only like girls who fuck you and sorry Jake but Santana is not that person." She said, narrowing her eyes. Santana came back, feeling the tension between the two. "Beer?" She offered. Julie frowned, "How the hell did you?" She asked, shaking her head, "Never mind." She said, taking the one. Santana handed a beer to Jake then stood with them as the concert started.

Claire rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out at him shrugging. She nodded and said, "Alright." She watched him leave before walking home. She got home and showered quickly before eating something since she was starving because of practice. She changed before going downstairs seeing the time. She grabbed her phone off the charger and put it into her back pocket before blinking hearing a honk. She told her mom goodbye before heading outside. She saw Ryan and took the helmet gently and said, "I dunno." She told him shrugging wanting to see where he'd pick. She put the helmet on before climbing in behind him and holding onto him as he started to motorcycle. She watched the lights pass her by as they seemed to fly past everything. She knew for a fact she didn't want to get too involved with this boy. She didn't want to let herself get caught up in feeling nice that she didn't remember that he was the boy that fucked girls and just left them like they were just a simple one night stand. She wasn't interested in having her heart broken by some guy who probably couldn't care less about her.

Jake grinned at Julie and chuckled and said, "Yeah." He smiled walking out of the house and getting into the car with them. He looked around the club and blinked hearing Santana, "You're welcome." He murmured to her before looking around once more trying to figure out the band he was seeing. Hearing Julie he sighed and finally snapped, "If you haven't fucking noticed Julie, she's been talking to me not vice versa so kindly get the fuck out of my business. Sorry that I'm not good enough for your fucking standards sis." He hissed unable to control himself. He was shaking by the time she got done talking. He laughed before seeing Santana come back, "No thanks." He told her before pushing his way into the crowd wanting to get as far away from his sister as he possibly could.

Ryan grinned to himself as they drove and he brought her to the beach parking lot. He parked and got off after her. He took her helmet from her and then walked with her towards the boardwalk. "You hungry?" He asked her. He knew he certainly was. He had a surprise for her at the end of the boardwalk, but he wanted to take his time getting there. He walked with her, "You look great by the way." He said as they walked towards one of the small restaurants that was on the boardwalk. "I don't know about you, but i'm starving." He said as he held the door open for her and walked inside. When they finally got approached by the hostess he smiled, "Can we get a table outside please." He asked. He walked outside with Claire and sat on the porch they had that over looked the ocean. He ordered himself a water once she finished ordering her drink .

Santana frowned as Jake walked away from them. She looked at Julie, "What the fuck Julie?" She snapped. She didn't know why she was so pissed but part of her was mad that Julie was being so awful to Jake. "He's an asshole Santana, just let it go." She said. Santana frowned, "No, I won't. Why are you always so mean to him. In case you didn't noticed i invited him tonight. So quit being so rude. It's my life and if I want to talk to your older brother i will. The only asshole right now is you." She said, handing her friend the drinks. Julie frowned, "He's just going to hurt you and break your heart Santana! I'm trying to help you." She said. Santana frowned, "We both know after my last relationship that i have no heart to break so just let it go." She said. She went after Jake and grabbed his arm, to stop him from walking. "Jake wait." She said, looking up at him when he turned around. "Come back with us." She said softly. "I talked to Julie. It's fine." She said. "Please." She pleaded with him. She heard the music start as she watched the different lights dance off his face. She slowly slide her hand down his forearm and found his hand, taking it in hers. "She's not going to be an ass." She told him.

Claire wondered what people thought normally, but right now she just closed her eyes and felt the wind in her hair and on her skin and looked up when they stopped. She got off the bike and stretched not liking bending over very much. She smiled and shrugged, "Sure." She told him before walking with him towards one of the restaurants that was by the boardwalk. She smiled waving to someone who called her name. She heard him and chuckled. "Thank you." She said before looking up as he spoke, "Well, I am hungry, but I ate a little when I got home." She told him honestly. She smiled when he held the door open and walked in. She watched the hostess and walked with him outside before sitting down. She looked at the ocean and smiled. She was a little sad they had missed the sunset, but the stars in the sky made up for it. "What if the stars in the sky are the souls of the people on earth?" She murmured softly having not noticed she had said it out loud. She smiled widely before turning her eyes back to Ryan the lights reflecting her eyes making them seem even brighter and warmer than usual.

Jake couldn't fucking believe it. He had been invited not tagged along, he had tried to stay away from her just to make his fucking sister get off his back and even through all this she still said the shit she did? Enough was enough. He knew he was toxic for most girls but Santana was different. She didn't want him to be something he wasn't. She didn't want the bad boy he was, she just wanted Jake. He sighed blinking when he felt someone's hand on his arm. He turned around and saw Santana and looked down at her and said, "Yeah?" He blinked once more hearing her ask him to come back to them. He frowned before hearing her say please and sighed, "Alright." He murmured before feeling her hand in his own. He said, "I hope not. I don't mean to be an ass and walk away but i'm not going to deal with her just talking shit about me. I'm grateful for the ticket and all, but fuck." He told her.

Ryan looked at her when he heard her questions, "Well then i guess those are some lucky people." He said, smirking. He looked over as the waitress came and let Claire order first. He ordered some crab cakes and aside of mashed potatoes. "So where is your game tomorrow?" He asked, taking a sip of his water. He could get over how amazing she looked in the light. Hell he couldn't get over how amazing she looked all the time. Ryan looked out at the ocean. It was the one place that made him feel at peace and like nobody was judging him. Ryan looked at her and smiled.

Santana smiled, "It will be fine." She said as she walked with him. She took her drink from Julie and looked at her friend who seemed kind of pissed. Santana took a sip of her beer, knowing that maybe she had said some things that were a little mean. Julie looked at Jake, then looked at the band that was in front of them. Santana enjoyed the concert and quit worrying about all the trouble they were having in that moment. Once the concert was over she walked outside with them. She looked at Julie, "Do you want to get pizza?" She asked her, smiling. Julie looked at her, "Yea sure." She said. Sure the two of them fought on occasion, but they never fought long. Santana looked at Jake, "Are you okay with pizza?" She asked him, smiling. She really was enjoying herself even if you could cut the tension between the two siblings with a knife. Julie walked to the car, and relaxed as they headed to the restaurant. Once they got to the pizza place Santana walked in and sat at the table with the two of them. Julie ordered them a pepperoni pizza. Santana looked at the two of them, "You guys are just awful." She said, laughing. She couldn't help herself, they looked so miserable. Julie looked at her, "You are forcing us to hang out with each other and i hate him." She muttered. Santana looked at him, "Yea well you love me bitch so get over it." She said, grinning.

Claire heard him and chuckled before shrugging, "That includes you macho man." She told him before looking up and giving the waitress a smile. She ordered some crappie with fries and some hush puppies. She would split the hushpuppies with him since she couldn't eat it alll. She heard him and said, "It's here. We're playing our rivals this game." She told him and frowned gently, "Last time we played against them three of us got injuries." She bit on her lip gently before blinking feeling him staring at her and tilted her head, "Why are you staring at me? Do I have something on my face?" She asked him raising an eyebrow at him. She looked at the ocean and wondered if she could get in it tonight. She smiled and then looked back towards Ryan waiting for his response propping her head up with once of her hands as she stared at him. She had managed to get some of her hair up into a clip at the top of her head, allowing him to see of her face for since, since usually her hair covered most of her cheeks and hid her forehead and temples. Her lips were in plain view now as well and looked plump and pink.

Jake nodded gently. He still didn't drink, not really in the mood for beer at the moment. He smiled seeing the band and recognizing them. He listened to some of their music. He didn't think they were bad at all. When the concert was over he had made sure none of the big guys bumped into the girls or himself since there were a lot of drunk people. He heard Santana and nodded, "I'm good with Pizza." He smiled gently before running a hand throughout his hair. He yawned before stretching once again. He ignored his sister at all costs not saying a damn thing to her. He liked Santana but he didn't like the fact that Julie was such a bitch to him. He didn't fucking understand what he ever did to her. He sat down before hearing Julie and nodding his okay with it. He looked up hearing her and shrugged. Hearing that Julie hated him just put him in a worse mood. He sighed.

Ryan looked at her when she asked what he was staring at, "Honestly? I can't get over how beautiful you are." He admitted. He took a sip of his drink and looked away for a moment. He couldn't believe he told her that. He wanted nothing more than to kiss her for the rest of the night, but she wouldn't be okay with that. Ryan looked over as their food came and grabbed his fork before he began to eat. He had always really liked this place. Ryan looked at her, "Is your food okay?" He asked her. He knew that this place was amazing, but he wanted to make sure she got everything how she wanted it. He took a bite of his food, feeling the breeze coming off the ocean on them.

Santana looked at the two of them, smiling when the pizza finally came. When they finished eating Santana got the rest in a box to go. She walked out with them and was kind of relieved when they got back to Jake and Julie's house. She frowned as Julie stormed away from them to the house, "Okay bye!" She called, frowning as her friend slammed the door. She looked at Jake, "Sorry about tonight. I didn't think she was going to act like that." She said as she leaned against her car. She felt terrible that neither of them had a good time. "It was a bad idea." She said, shaking her head. She watched him for a moment, "Thanks for tagging along though." She said, smiling a little at him. "Hopefully Julie isn't planning my murder tonight." She joked as she pulled her keys from her pocket. She thought for a moment, "Do you um...wanna come over to my house tonight?" She asked him, figuring they could spend some time alone and see if they got along without the tension. "My mom's on some cruise with her boyfriend so i have the house to myself. Oh and some pretty awesome pizza." She said, laughing softly. "I mean if you want to." She added.

Claire blinked hearing him and blushed again looking away and muttering, "Thank you." She wasn't going to fall for it and she wasn't going to be his little pawn. It wasn't going to happen. She knew the only reason he wanted her was because no one else had ever turned him down before and she had. He couldn't stand it and she knew it. She took a sip of her own drink and smiled when the food came and poured some ketchup on a napkin and dipped her fries and her fish into it and smiled happily. "Mmhmm. Do you want some hushpuppies?" She asked him knowing she couldn't eat all of this food. She closed her eyes gently feeling the wind go through her hair and murmured, "I love the sea." She looked over towards it and smiled knowing she would come here more with a book and just enjoy the sun and the waves and even the sounds of the seagull squawking from a distance. Claire hummed and forgot he had said he was going to hang out with friends tomorrow and asked, "Are you coming to game tomorrow?"

Jake ate his fill happily and threw pieces of paper in balls towards Santana when she wasn't looking. Jake watched Julie storm away and made angry cat noises. "Damn." He said. He heard Santana and shrugged, "It wasn't your fault. It was miss pms." He promised her. He blinked hearing her, "I mean if she drags you to shit, you should be able to drag her places too." He frowned gently and then yawned softly again since he was just bored at this point. "I enjoyed it except for when she opened her mouth to be honest." He laughed and grinned, "She'll probably kill me if she's going to go homicidal." He teased. He heard her beginning to speak and turned to look down at her tilting his head as he listened. "Ya know what, yeah I'll come over. Beats this house and listening to Julie bitch for an hour." He laughed before smiling at her. "Yeah, sounds nice."

He nodded when she said she loved the sea, "Yea this is one of my favorite places along the beach. The other one is a secret for later." He said, smirking. "If you pass all the tests that is." He said before taking a sip of his drink. When she mentioned her game her shrugged, "I mean i'm suppose to hang out with my friends, but I can swing by if you want me to." He said. He wouldn't mind watching her play. If he was going to commit to this he might as well make an effort for her. She wanted someone who cared and he could give her that. Once they finished eating he paid the bill, "Ready?" He asked as he watched her looking out at the ocean.

Santana smiled, "Alright get in." She said as she walked to the driver's side. She drove them to her house, then walked to the front door and unlocked it. She walked in, turning some of the lights on. "Make yourself at home." She said as she walked into the kitchen to put the pizza away. She realized that she never actually had Jake in her house. Her living room was littered with pictures of her, friends and a few family members. She was of course her mom's pride and joy. Even if her mom wasn't there all the time. They had grown apart since her father passed away when she was younger. Santana walked out, "Do you want to watch a movie?" She asked. "I'm going to go change real quick and i will be back." She said, giving him a small smile before she went upstairs. She got dressed in her clothes for bed and stared at herself in the mirror. Maybe the shorts were a little short, but it wouldn't be the first time she dressed like that in front of Jake. She was kind of nervous to have him in her house. He was older and he made her really let her guard down for some reason. She shook the feeling and walked downstairs, "Ready?" She asked him as she opened the movie stand she had in her living room. "What kind of movie do you want to watch? I have a little of everything." She said, looking back at him.

She asked before smiling softly and shaking her head. She felt someone text her and took her phone out and said, "Sorry it's my mom." She told him and looked at the text message saying she would need to keep track of her 5 year old brother the day after tomorrow since her mother knew she had a soccer game tomorrow. Hearing him say if she passed the tests she looked up tilting her head, "I thought I already did if you've already brought me here." She told him shrugging before putting her phone back into her back pocket. She smiled softly swinging her legs gently hearing her adidas hit the ground with a light thud. She looked up hearing him and laughed, "If you came by it would give me an excuse to escape from Drew." She said honestly. "He's creepy. He just kind of follows me." She murmured frowning before sighing and looking at the ocean. Hearing his question she looked up and smiled nodding taking one last sip of her drink before standing up. She stretched lightly and smiled.

Jake nodded giving her a smile before entering the passenger side and looking over at the window. He yawned when they were there and looked around before hearing her and laughed, "Alright." He sat down on the couch and ran a hand through his hair before looking around at all the pictures. Her house was different from his. His parents were practically separated on sides. His mom was on his side and Julie had his dad wrapped around her finger practically. He nodded to her and said, "Movie sounds good." He gave her a small smile before watching her disappear. He popped his neck and waited patiently. He took his shoes off figuring he didn't want to accidentally get them on the couch or anywhere. He looked up and smiled at her letting his eyes give her a once over before nodding. "Yeah." He told her. Hearing her ask the question he blinked and said, "Usually I just watch whatever they play to be honest. Granted, I've watched enough chick flicks to ruin my life." He laughed his chest vibrating from laughing.

Ryan thought for a moment then got to his feet. "Well I guess i will be there then." He said as he walked with her out of the restuarant. Ryan walked her to the arcade, "So are you any good at skeeball?" He asked as he led her inside. He got them some tokens then handed her some. "Im pretty amazing actually." He added with a smirk. He got the game started and began to play. He smiled as he got some high points.

Santana smiled as she chose a comedy. "Well i think we will just watch something funny." She said. She sat down with him on the couch, "Did you want something to drink?" she asked him. She relaxed as the movie started and watched the tv. She was glad that he was spending time with her. "So did you decide on any tattoos yet?" She asked, turning to him. She was pretty interested in his obsession with tattoos.

Claire stood up as well and blinked at his response and smiled, "Thanks." She told him giving a small laugh. She then said, "You're not as mean as people say." She shrugged before following him to the arcade. She blinked and shook her head hearing his question, "Not really. I'm not really good with throwing things. I have terrible aim. I'm only good with my legs." She laughed softly. She gave him the tokens back and then watched him play, "I see that." She told him just watching. She didn't mind. She had done enough activities today to last her a full week. She smiled softly running a hand throughout her hair.

Jake nodded and said, "That's fine with me." He told her laughing softly as he sat down with her. He shook his head and told her, "Nah, I'm fine." He watched the television trying to understand the premise of the movie. Hearing her question, he sighed. "No and yes. I don't know. I already have a lot. It's not like I need anymore." He told her with a small laugh. He looked down at her and said, "Why?"

Ryan looked at her, "Come on. Its no fun if i cant beat you." He said as he offered her the tokens. "I swear i wont laugh at you." He said smirking. He did like spending time with her. Ryan liked how happy she was all the time. Once he finished he looked at her, "Alright i will show you my secret spot." He said. He walked with her then led her off the boardwalk and onto the sand. He walked a good way down the beach until they came to a place that was closed off from everything else. He sat on one of the rocks and looked at her, "Have a seat." he said.

Santana looked at him, "What wrong with more?" She asked, tilting her head as she listened to him. She shrugged, "I was just curious." she said, looking at the tv.
