Zoey laughed shaking her head. "Probably but it's not your business." She told him before sighing hearing him. "No if you don't help me i'm literally going to make your life hell, and you out of anyone should know I mean it. We aren't going to fail. You are just going to put work in." She told him. "Plus, the project calls for artsy stuff." She said knowing she would suck him in one way or another. "By the way, the school is having an art show down. You should join." She said casually as she looked over the project details humming softly to herself. "Volleyball next and then home." She smiled happily.

Taven nodded and said, "Good, I'm glad." He gave her a smile before looking back at the project and beginning to try his best to work on it. Occasionally he would ask her questions pertaining to it and once he got his answer he would work on that question. The tattoos covering his body were interesting to look at, and most were designed by James. His eyebrow was pierced, but he wanted to take it out since he didn't think it looked all that good. Hearing his name, he looked up surprised glancing at Meilani and said, "Well, I don't want to intrude." He murmured politely. He really didn't. He hated intruding on people's stuff and didn't really want to be a bother, especially not to Meilani.

James shook his head when she mentioned the art show. "Nope. I have already been asked and i declined then." He said. He thought for a moment, "When did you want to start working on this project?" He asked. James liked the idea of spending time with her. He looked at the time, seeing it was almost time to go. "You only have five minutes." he said, knowing she was excited for class to be over.

Meilani's dad shook his head, "It's not intruding if you are invited." He said, "We are having steak and I'm going to start it now." He said, not giving Taven room to argue. Meilani looked at Taven, "Since when are you shy?" She teased him. Maybe it was because her dad intimidated him. Though her dad didn't seem like that kind of person. Once they finished working for the day she cleaned up her stuff and went to the kitchen to get stuff to set the table.

Zoey tilted her head and asked, "Why though?" She was confused since she knew he adored art and was all the time doodling. She shrugged and said, "After volleyball practice is fine with me. You?" He asked him tilting her head once more her glasses adding the green in her hazel eyes. She heard him and said, "Yes! Time to go hit girls with volleyballs." She sighed happily. She then looked back at him, "Although, my knees are always purple from landing on the ground to spike the ball." She chuckled.

Taven blinked watching as he left and sighed, "Alrighty then." He looked at Meilani and chuckled. "As I recall from earlier you said you didn't know me." He teased before getting somber, "It's because I don't normally like being at other's people's homes." He explained to her before he packed all of his stuff into his backpack and took it to the front door so it wouldn't be in the way of people. He came back and said, "Would you like any help?" He tilted his head.

James looked at her, "The people in this school are constantly judging people. I prefer my artwork to not be another thing on the list. Besides its not like my art isn't out that. All of Tavens tattoos are my design." He said. He heard the bell ring, getting to his feet. "I will come by your place later. Text me when you are home." He said, giving her his number.

Meilani shook her head, "No, I got it, but thanks." She said. She couldn't explain the feeling she got when Taven was standing near her. She had never felt that connection with anyone. She looked over as her dad brought the food out, then sat at the table with them. Meilani bit her bottom lip lightly as her dad went to pray, taking her hand and offering his other one to Taven. Meilani let her hand slip into Taven's feeling the warmth of it as his fingers wrapped around her hand. She pulled away when her dad finished and started to get some food. She avoided the steak because she didnt eat meat. Though her dad made sure to make stuff for her as well.

Zoey heard him before shaking her head, "They're going to judge no matter what, James." She said using his actual name for once. "I know they are. He told me one day." She said shrugging. Hearing the bell ring, she stood up dusting herself off before nodding, "Alright." She told him putting his phone into her number and heading for the locker room. She got inside and changed into a pair of skin tight shorts and a tank top before making her way into the gym. She got through with volleyball and hurried home before texting James that she was done with practice giving him her address. She didn't care about her clothes and just kept them on before going downstairs and getting her stuff on the table.

Taven nodded giving her a smile. He sat down with them all and took Meilani's hand in his own larger one and smiled softly at her warmth before lowering his head and showing his respect for their religion. He may not believe, but this was their house and it was his place to respect them. He felt her pull away and started to eat noticing that Meilani didn't eat the meat any and figured she must've been a vegetarian. He popped his neck gently and then continued to eat telling her father that it was a good meal. "Thank you for the meal." He told him before finishing up.

James seen Zoey's name appear on his phone then headed over to her house. He knocked the the door, smirking as she opened it. "You ready?" He asked. He really just wanted to get the project over with. He didnt want to do it, but he was going to try for her. James liked the idea of spending more time with her though. He walked inside with her, setting his stuff down as they sat.

Meilani finished her food, listening to her dad talk. Once her dad finished he got up and started putting stuff away. Meilani looked at Taven, "So I figure we can work on the project tomorrow as well if you want to." She said. She wanted to try to get it done as quickly as possible. Though a part of her wanted to drag it out so she could spend more time with Taven.

Zoey heard a knock at the door and went over opening the door having taken her glasses off for practice and said, "I suppose." She let him in before asking, "Want anything to drink?" She walked off into the kitchen her hips having a natural sway to them as well as her shorts being almost booty shorts and skin tight. She got a bottle of water for herself as well as him and sat down getting her binder out taking a sip of her water. She hummed softly getting her binder out. Looking up as she felt someone staring at her, "What?" She asked blinking before realizing she didn't have her glasses on. "Oh!" She exclaimed before taking them out and letting them rest on the bridge of her nose. "I take them off during volleyball." She explained smiling before looking at the paper again and sighing.

Taven spoke with her father quietly knowing he must be curious about him. He looked over at her and nodded, "If you want to, though I can't stay for dinner tomorrow, James and I have something to do." He told her biting down on his lip knowing he was never going to tell her about his gang related shit. He was not going to bring her into that world. James and him already had a tough enough time trying to deal with it on their own, but they needed the money really badly. They were going to try and quit soon, but Taven didn't see that happening really.

James watched her as she walked to the kitchen, he took the water from her, "Thanks." He said, sitting down. He watched het, taking in her features. He shook his head, "You playing without your glasses has to be interesting." He teased her. He looked at his phone texting Taven to make sure he was still down for the job they had to do tomorrow. He looked back at Zoey, "So where do we start?" he asked.

Meilani nodded, "Okay no dinner tomorrow." She said, smiling at him. She got up, walking out with him when he was ready to leave. She looked at his car from her porch. She looked at him, "I guess I will see you tomorrow." She said, holding the book in her hand she planned on reading on the porch once he left. She couldnt quit getting lost in his eyes when he spoke.

Zoey nodded hearing his response. "You're welcome." She said. "I can see without my glasses, they're more or so reading glasses, I just wear them all the time to get used to them." She explained popping her neck and back gently groaning a little bit from the bruises forming on her knees and legs. "Well, we should probably get the information stuff out of the way before we do the other fun half." She smiled before pulling out her textbook and said, "I'll do 1-10 and you can do 10-20. Unless you need help, then just ask me." She promised him before looking down at her book. She groaned halfway through, "What the hell is this?! It doesn't make any sense!" she complained frowning down at it knowing she was going to have a thorough discussion with the teacher tomorrow.

Taven smiled, "Sorry." He told her before walking out grabbing his bag as he did so. "I'll see you tomorrow, Meilani." He gave her a sweet smile before turning around and getting into his car. He started it waving as he drove away and getting back to his shitty ass apartment. He sighed closing the door to it before texting James back asking when they were going to get out of doing this shit. He knew he needed the money, but he didn't want to be involved with this gang considering they were killing people and shit.

James nodded, "Alright, I will do my best." He told her. He worked on the problems, then looked at her. "So does that mean we can stop doing this shit?" He teased her. He looked at his phone answering it. He knew Taven wanted out, but they both needed the money. One night with virgin mary and you are trying to be good? he texted his friend. He was only joking with him, but he understood his friends concern.

Meilani smiled, "Goodnight Taven." She said. She watched as he left then sat down on the porch swing, opening her book. She bit her bottom lip lightly an hour later, thinking about Taven. She decided to text him, knowing it was not something she would normally do. You are suppose to text people to let them know you made it home safely you know. She sent the text then went upstairs to get ready for bed.

Zoey nodded and smiled. She was so angry that it wasn't working. There was no way she wasn't getting the right answers. "Yes. Yes it does. I'm going to freaking talk to Mrs. Polt tomorrow and clear this up because it doesn't make any sense whatsoever!" She exclaimed very much irritated. "I mean how can this even begin to make sense to her?" She asked frowning before throwing her papers across the room. "Argh." She said sighing. "Okay, I feel better, but I refuse to look at it anymore tonight." She said frowning before looking up at James.

Taven laughed knowing what he meant and texted back You're just jealous that in the two years you've known Zoey you STILL haven't made a move. But on a real note, I'm fine with doing illegal shit, I'm not into killing people, dude. He laughed seeing another text and saw it was Meilani and smiled sending back I thought you said I wasn't allowed to text unless it was school related? Though, I don't mind texting you. He smiled before laying down on his couch and just waiting for text messages, something he rarely ever did.

James chuckled at Zoey's reaction, "You are just secretly angry aren't you?" He teased her. He looked at his phone, Dude, i am at her place now thank you very much. We will get out soon alright then you can marry your little girlfriend and have all those church babies. He turned his attention back to Zoey, "So are we done then?" He asked, not wanting to leave just yet.

Meilani laid down in her bed, smiling when she seen the text from him. Technically, you left my house from studying so it is school work related. So that means you text me once you make it home alive. She sent the message, smiling to herself. She felt butterflies in her stomach as she stared at his name in her phone. She didn't know how he had such a strong pull on her.

"It's not a secret if I'm throwing shit across the room." Zoey pointed out laughnig softly. "I just don't understand how you can give an assignment expecting it to be done, but it doesn't make any freaking sense." She told him shrugging. "Tell Taven hi for me." She said as she sighed standing up and stretching her shirt pulling up and showing her flat stomach. She yawned and sighed, "I don't know. IF you want to work on it some more, that's your perogative. I say we play a game or something. Or you can go home." She shrugged. "My mom is working all night at the hospital so i'm going to be stuck alone tonight."

Taven laughed seeing it smirking as he responded Yeah but it's been 2 years, dude. You'd have to meet her to understand. He knew his friend meant well and didn't mean it in a bad way and read Meilani's text message and laughed out loud again before writing back Hey, like I said, I don't mind at all. How do you know I'm alive? I could be a ghost. He got up stretching and and got into the bath taking his phone with him so he could relax and text as he pleased.

James smiled at Taven's text, Zoey says hi He sent it before turning his attention to her, "I will stick around if you want me to." He said. It wasnt like he really had any plans. He would just be sitting around his house doing nothing. Hell half the time he went to Taven's just to do something other than watch tv. He put his stuff in his back, then stood up.

Meilani smiled at his text, If you were a ghost and had those abilities why would you waste your time texting me? She sent it then turned her tv on, turning the volume down low so it wouldn't wake up her dad. She held her phone in her hand, waiting for Taven to text back.

Zoey laughed and said, "Sure, honestly, don't have anything else to do. Granted, I have to cook dinner now. Unless you want pizza." She said knowing her mom left her some stuff to get food with if she wanted to have it delivered. She watched as he stood up and muttered, "God how tall are you?" She stared up at him frowning. She crossed her arms over her chest. She was a solid 5"1. She wasn't afraid of her height or to admit it. She just knew she would never be good at basketball.

Taven laughed seeing James' text. Hey Zoe! He texted back knowing Zoey was pretty nice. They got along pretty alright. James just irritated her all the damn time making it hard for her to like his best friend sometimes. He laughed see Meilani's text. Well, because I find it far more interesting and a far better use of my time by talking to you. He texted back knowing he meant it to.

James looked at her, "Im fine with whatever you want." He said. He smiled when she asked how tall he was. "6'1." He replied. He looked down at her, "You really are short arent you?" He teased her. James was glad she invited him to hang out with her. It meant he may actually have a chance to get with her.

Meilani bit her bottom lip lightly as she read his text, How do you know that? i could be a bad person...you don't know. She texted him, knowing it was a complete lie. Meilani never tried to hurt anyone on purpose. She couldn't even imagine doing that.

"I don't really know." Zoey said biting down on her lip as she did so. Hearing his response she groaned. "You're a whole foot taller than me." She muttered and growled at him. "I may be short, but I will hurt you." She threatened. She smiled before stretching again. She looked at him before thinking to herself. "Well," She started, before continuing "we could always play a card game or something. I don't know. What do normal people do?" She asked raising an eyebrow at him.

Taven laughed shaking his head replying, You could be, but you aren't. I can already tell. He sent back smiling to himself before finishing up getting washed up and heading to his room as he waited for a response. Besides, I'm sure i'd still like you even if you were "bad" He stared up at his ceiling wondering what this feeling was. It felt just so natural to be talking to her like this.

James looked at her, "Are you really asking me of all people what normal people do?" He asked, laughing. He shrugged, "Why don't we play a board game or something." He suggested. He liked the idea of spending some alone time with her. Usually he didn't hang out with girls like this. usually he was hooking up with them an leaving. He didn't see Zoey that way though.

Meilani smiled at his words, he liked her. Meilani texted him back, Yea I guess I really don't give off a bad person vibe. She thought for a moment, Why are you interested in me again? I'm not that interesting. She sent the message and thought about Taven. She had never even considered dating anyone really. She just wanted to get out of school, but Taven would definitely be a leap out of her comfort zone.

Zoey listened and then laughed, "You're right. Why am I asking you of all people?" She shook her head. "Bad idea on my part." She said shrugging before pulling her hair down from the pony tail letting all of her ombred hair fall down her shoulders and down her face, as it surrounded her face. She nodded and said, "Honestly, the only board games I have are Life and Monopoly." She laughed before looking around and finding the game, coming back and setting it down on the table in front of them. "The only other games I have are phase ten and uno." She admitted. "Usually I read a book." She told him. She picked up her phone before ordering pizza. "I ordered pizza since i'm starving."

Taven saw her message his smile fading before responding You seem sincere and real. You aren't like the other girls in the school where they just pretend to be something to get someone to like them. I like that. I think you're interesting. You're much more than you give yourself credit for, I'm sure. He sent back before looking up at his ceiling hoping he made her smile. The thought brought a smile to his own face and he just knew most girls wouldn't date him because of the rumors. Some of them had credit, but most of them were bullshit.

James looked at the games, "I'm pretty sure I can beat you at life." He said. He started to take the stuff out. He nodded when she mentioned ordering pizza. "What kind of pizza did you order?" He asked. He really didn't have a preference on what they ate because he ate pretty much anything. James looked at her, "What color do you want to be?" He asked, showing her the little game piece cars.

Meiliani grinned as she looked at the text. She thought about what to say next, I think you are nicer than you appear to be. You are a lot nicer than most of the people at school. She sent the message and smiled, I'm glad you think of me that way. She couldn't believe someone like Taven was interested in her.
