Matt nodded then finished up his food, "Let's go." He said to Natalie. He got up and walked off with her, leading her back to his house. he walked upstairs and went to the bathroom and took a shower. He got ready for bed and laid down in his bed. He stared at the ceiling and let his arms rest over his chest. He knew that he had to figure out a way for the pack to calm down. He didn't need a revolt starting.

Abby frowned when he told her to hurry. She finished her food then stood up when he did. She walked with him in silence told his house. She heard a gunshot in the distance and looked at him. Normally people werent hunting this late at night unless it was for werewolves. Abby could tell Brian was worried about it as well.

Natalie sat in the living room, flipping through the tv when she heard the gun shot. She immediately got up and bolted to the back door that looked out over the forest behind Matts house. Of course she couldn't see anything but she knew that was the direction it came from. People didn't hurt in the pitch darkness, she knew that had to be werewolf hunters. "Matt?" She called up the stairs, knowing he had to have heard.

The sound of the gun shot had fear coursing through her whole body, making her feel on edge and panicky.

Brian had had plans to go out on a run, but it wasn't long after they got to his house that they heard the gun shot off in the distance. They were still outside even. Brian looked around, knowing they had just seen all of their own at the town hall, so he knew whatever those hunters were shooting at wasn't his pack. "Just go inside." He ushered her into the house. The only other pack near theirs was Abby's, but they weren't his problem. However he knew hunters being close was his problem.

Matt laid there, hearing a gun shot ring through the woods. He heard Natalie call for him and he got up walking to the stairs. He looked at her, "What?" He asked. He knew his pack was safe so he wasn't worried. He could tell Natalie was freaked out though, "It's okay." He assured her.

Abby walked into his house with him, taking her jacket off. She didn't like the idea of the hunters being so close. She wasn't sure how this pack dealt with hunters either. Abby walked up to the bedroom, getting her clothes out. She walked into the bathroom, stripping out of her clothes before she got in the warm shower. She closed her eyes as the water ran over her body. She just wanted this to all.be a dream and to be back with her pack. When she finished she dried off then got dressed in a pair of shorts and a tank top. She gathered her things after she cleaned up the bathroom then walked out, finding Brian getting ready for bed. She walked out of his room, knowing he didn't really want her there. She walked downstairs and sat on the couch.

Natalie frowned looking up at him and it pissed her off the way he just stood at the top of the stairs like it wasn't a big deal. She had been with her pack before when they had been attacked and she knew what it was like. "I get you don't care about anyone but your own, but do you not hear how close they are? You're not worried at all?" She frowned.

Brian would be lying if he said he wasn't the tiniest bit worried considering how close they sounded, but he knew his pack could handle a hunter or two if they decided to wander into their village. What really worried him was if one of their own decided to play hero and go after them, or if any of the younger ones thought it would be fun to investigate. He sighed and pulled on his sleep pants and rubbed the back of his neck. He walked downstairs and leaned against the stairs. "Are you going to sleep down here again?" He asked.

Matt frowned, "No I am not. I know how to take care of my pack. They don't move unless I say so. I don't know how your little pack was ran but nobody does anything without my approval." He said as he walked down the stairs. "What? Are you afraid I can't protect you?" He asked, crossing his arms.

Abby looked over at him when she head him speak. It was the first sentence he had used since she upset him. "I figured you would want me to." She replied. She didn't feel like pissing him off anymore for the day and she was trying to not think about the gunshot they heard. Abby nodded when he asked her to come up to bed with him. She bit her bottom lip lightly as she walked into his room. She hadn't slept with anyone in her life. She climbed into his bed, leaving him space so they werent touching. She closed her eyes, hearing another shot ring out.

Natalie couldn't stop her nose from wrinkling up as she glared at him, she couldn't stand his attitude. "I know you don't care to protect me, but whatever. I don't care if hunters come ransacking your little town anyway." She let her shoulders slouch as she went back to the couch. If Matt wasn't going to act all big and bad and like nothing could hurt him, she wasn't going to let him know how worried she actually was. She didn't want him to have the satisfaction. He already thought Natalie was small and weak, she wasn't going to let him add scaredy-cat to that list.

Brian led her into the bedroom, "I just want you up here in case a hunter does decide to do something stupid. I don't want you half away across the house from me." Even if he did feel like he hated her deep down, she was still under his protection and he'd be damned if he let another Eva repeat happen. He climbed into bed and tried to relax, Eva still swimming around his mind. He wished Abby hadn't been snooping and brought that necklace up.

Matt glared at her when she spoke, "Yea I'm sure you wouldn't care if they killed you." He said as he walked away. He knew he had people scattered throughout the town that were on alert for stuff like this. He laid down and tried to fall asleep in his room.

Abby could practically feel how on edge he was as he laid next to her. She rolled over to face him, seeing the moonlight hit his eyes, making the canine side show through when he looked at her. "What's wrong?" She asked. She could practically smell his worrying.

Natalie just rolled her eyes and laid down on the couch. Of course she didn't want to die, but it wouldn't really matter. Being alive she was being forced to stay with him and stay cooped up in his house. She dug her nails into a pillow, feeling so defeated. She hoped that whatever that gunshot was aimed at didn't hurt any of her family.

She laid there for what seemed like a couple of hours, tossing and turning unable to get comfortable. She kicked the pullover blanket off of her onto the floor and got up, sighing. Natalie took to the stairs, heading to the second floor and crept into Matts bedroom. "Are you still awake?"

He frowned and lifted his gaze to meet hers, wondering if she was asking because she actually cared, or just to ask. "Just thinking about a lot." He whispered. There was no point in trying to shut her out and be a dick to her if she was going to try to talk to him. "Can't seem to shut my mind off."

Matt looked over as she walked into his room, "Yes I am still awake." He replied. He sat up and watched her, "What's wrong?" He asked. He knew she was probably freaked out and just didn't want to admit it. He sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck.

Abby nodded, "What are you thinking about?" She asked. "Are you worried about those gunshots?" She asked him as her head rested in the pillow. She didn't know why but he didn't seem as intimidating when he was laying next to her in the darkness.

Natalie came and sat down on the foot of his bed and ran a hand through her hair. "Just can't sleep." She shrugged, trying to chalk it up to just the couch being to uncomfortable. She looked over towards Matts window, watching the moonlight cascade down over his bed, lighting up the room with pale blue light.

Brian shook his head, "Not really. Just a little bit, but I know we'll be fine." He told her. He had dealt with hunters before. He couldn't seem to turn off the guilt he felt and could only focus on what would happen if he failed to protect the ones he was supposed to again.

Matt watched her as he laid in the bed, "Why is that?" He asked as he watched her. He knew that she wanted to stay in his room. "You can sleep here if you want." He offered.

Abby sighed, "Do you think they will come here?" She asked him. She didn't want to relive what had happened a few years ago to her. She might not escape this time and she would be dead.

Natalie chewed on the inside of her cheek and just crawled up the bed slowly after thinking about it for a second. She pulled down a pillow and fluffed it up before laying down and looking up at Matt. "So you're really not concerned at all?" She asked.

Brian shook his head. "I don't think so. Last time we had a run in with hunters they stayed in the woods. Never even came close to our town." Of course, they could always decide to this time, but Brian wasn't going to bet on it.

Matt looked at her and shook his head. "No. I mean if they get closer then maybe, but I really think it will be okay." He said. "We have people trained for this." He said. "Plus I am going to go check it out tomorrow morning." He explained as he laid back down.

Abby watched him, "Lucky you." She whispered. She knew they probably lost people but at least they still had their town. Abby looked the tattoos that covered his chest and shoulders for a moment before she looked back at him. "I wonder why they decided to come back all of the sudden." She said.

Natalie rolled on her side and looked up at him. "Then why can't you sleep?" She asked. After all, he came to bed before she did and she was tossing and turning for at least two hours.

Brian looked back up at the ceiling, "Because that's what hunters do. They know we're here and they're whole job is to wipe us out. They'll always come back." He whispered. He glanced back over at her, looking at the way the moonlight washed over her pale skin. "Try not to worry about it."

Matt frowned, "Because I'm thinking of what I have to do tomorrow." He said. He knew that he was going to be pretty busy. Sure he was worried but he couldn't tell her that. He had to appear to be strong. He sighed as he closed his eyes. "Try to go to sleep." He said.

Abby sighed when he told her not to worry about it. She watched him as his eyes moved over her, "They almost killed me before." She whispered. It was so weird to say it out loud.

Natalie frowned and let her eyes scan over his face again before she huffed and sighed. "What do you have to do tomorrow?" She kept prying. Right now he didn't seem so intimidating and she didn't care to talk to him.

Brian opened his eyes back up and looked over at her. "You don't have to worry about that here." He said. He wasn't going to dog her down about how weak her pack was. But he refused to let her get hurt by a hunter. Whether he liked her or not, he wasn't losing another mate.

Matt looked at her, "We have to scan the area and I have to check on a few of the elders." He said. His pack always took care of the older pack members. He looked at the ceiling, "Why do you ask?" He asked her.

Abby nodded then got comfortable. She fell asleep then woke up the next morning. She was surprised when she felt Brian's arm around her waist and his breath against her skin. Abby slowly moved, feeling his grip tighten a little.

Natalie shrugged, "Just wondering." She laid down all the way and curled up under the blankets, pulling them up close to her chin. She wasn't sure if it was because she felt safer now, but sleep came easier.

She woke up in the morning and it seemed like Matt was already gone running his errands. Natalie got up and took a shower before getting dressed and walked outside in the backyard.

Brian sleepily opened his eyes, half way still asleep, when he felt Abby start to move. Tightening his grip was instinct, especially since he felt like he was still dreaming. "Where-re you going-" he slurred, his eyes slowly shutting and reopening several times.

Matt had just finished checking on the elders and was on his way to Brian's to get him so they could run the perimeter. He knocked on his friends door before he walked in the house. "Brian!" He called. He was surprised to see his friend was not awake yet.

Abby looked at him when he asked where she was going, "No where." She replied, I was just stretching." She said. She heard Matt yell from downstairs and looked at Brian. She got up when he did and stood at the bedroom door as she listened to him talk to Matt about going somewhere. She stepped back when he returned to the bedroom, looking up at him. "Where are you going?" She asked, watching him get ready. "Umm...can I go see Natalie?" She asked. She didn't feel like sitting in the house all day.

Brian forced himself out of bed to go talk to Matt about searching the area around their village, and then he hurriedly got dressed. "Sure, I guess." He didn't see the harm in it, "I'll walk you over, though." He told her and then waited for her to get dressed. He still didn't want her walking around the village by herself.

He told Matt he'd meet him by the woods and walked Abby over to Matts house. "You stay here until we get back. No wandering anywhere, around town or the woods." Brian told her with a stern look, before leading her inside and then hurrying to meet Matt.

Natalie heard the front door and quickly walked back in through the back door, expecting Matt, but more relieved when she seen Abby. "Hey." She said, surprised Brian actually brought her over here. "How are you holding up?"
