Tristan couldn’t help but look over at Elena. He wondered who it was that convinced her to come. She stuck out a little just from her nervousness. Then there was the fact that she was beautiful that brought in attention. He looked up and saw her dancing. He worried that some guy that she didn’t want touching her would make a move on her he moved closer to the livin room, wondering why he felt the need to be protective over her.

“Who’s the girl you keeping looking at?” Lynn asked. Of course, she would notice. He told her everything because there wasn’t anything to truly hide. As much as Lynn wasn’t a good girlfriend to Tristan, she was becoming a good friend. She nodded and guessed who had to be the one to tell Elena all those lies about me.

Elena could feel the alcohol pulsing through her veins, making her feel a bit more easy going and relaxed. "That guy from earlier can't keep his eyes off you" Danny told her with a wink. Lena glanced over her shoulder with a sigh, seeing that Tristan was just outside the living room watching them. "I don't want him to be looking at me" she commented, rolling her eyes slightly. She kept dancing for a few minutes, before telling Danny and Kayla she would be back in a minute and heading towards the kitchen to get herself a drink.

Elena poured herself another Jack and Coke, she wasn't usually a drinker but she liked how relaxed it was making her feel. She took a large sip of the drink, shuddering as it slid back her throat before checking her phone. She was slowly scrolling through Twitter when she felt a tap on her shoulder.

Tristan was shocked to see Lynn turn as soon as he confirmed her immediate theory. He didn’t want Lynn to cause a scene or embarrass Elena. He looked at his friend Johnnie who just shrugged his shoulders. He glared at him for the lack of help. He followed after Lynn, hoping to see what she was going to do and interfere if need be.

Tristan followed her to the kitchen. He saw Elena and hung back. He kind of doubted that Lynn would do anything to her. Elena was the innocent in all this. “Excuse me, but what do you know about Tristan?” Lynn asked. Tristan could hear the friendliness in her voice.

Elena smiled softly at the girl, letting her eyes focus on her for a second. She realised she was the girl who was with him a couple of minutes ago. She blushed softly shaking her head. "Oh I'm sorry... I don't really know why he was looking at me like that, he's all yours" she said with a small laugh. She didn't want this girl to think she was in the way of her and Tristan getting together.

She took another sip of her drink, pulling her hair out of her face. She didn't like talking about people, but she also didn't want to see this girl get hurt. "Hey look..." She said, dropping her voice low placing her hand on the girls arm. "Look. I just wanted to let you know... A girl who knows Tristan since high school warned me off him... So just be careful, he seems a lot sweeter than he is" she told her with a kind smile. It hurt a little to think Tristan moved on to someone else that quick, but Kayla had warned her.

“Listen to me, honey. I used to date Tristan in high school. I don’t know if Kayla told you about me, but he broke up with me because I cheated on him several times. I was an idiot and wished I hadn’t messed up like I did with him knowing what I know about him now, but I’m not going to let lies spread around about the sweetest guy i have ever met,” Lynn said. “He hasn’t had luck with girls. They always hurt him, and Kayla who had to be the one to warn you off is the worst one. He forgave me when he didn’t have to. He could have went all over school saying that I was a slut, but he didn’t. Gods know I probably would have if the table was reversed. He’s faithful and the most sober guy here. And extremely kind-hearted. All I know is if you don’t be with him, that’s fine but don’t believe everything a girl who can’t accept that Tristan isn’t in love with her.”

Tristan didn’t know if he should be listening to this. He never knew that Lynn had thought that about him. He was tempted to go back to Johnnie because he didn’t want to eavesdrop. He just wanted to know her reply to Lynn’s words. He didn’t know if those words would get through to her. And Lynn was right about not wanting to be with Tristan. That was what hurt the most.

Elena stood still, staring at this girl for a second, trying to process the words that came out of her mouth. The whiskey was definitely impairing her thought process. She crossed her arms over her chest, blinking hard. "Did he put you up to this?" She asked softly, looking around the room.

Elena could feel a tightening in her chest as she stared at this girl. "Look, I don't know who you are, but if he put you up to this just tell me. I actually really liked him but I don't have time for any drama or whatever... I just-- did you really cheat on him?" She asked, running her hands in to her hair. She was too drunk for all of this.

“He wouldn’t put me up to this, trust me. He would have told himself. He isn’t the type to do that. I cheated on him a lot and it wasn’t just one person. I was young and stupid. I broke his heart, and I’m sure it took everything to get him to forgive me,” Lynn answered. “Just go talk to him. Get to know him. You’ll see what I’m talking about. And word of advice if you are trying to avoid drama, then you need to avoid Kayla. That’s her middle name.”

Tristan started to make his way back to Johnnie deciding that whatever Elena decides then it’s her decision not his. And he just needed things to be normal. He had found himself wishing that Elena would give him a chance to show her what he is really like.

Elena watched the girl, her eyes clearly filled with confusion. "Why is he friends with you if you did that..?" She asked softly but the girl had already turned way from her. She sighed gently, knocking back the drink that was in her cup and heading back out to the party.

She grabbed Kayla's shoulder "did you lie about Tristan?" She demanded, her words mildly slurred, her already short dress in need of being pulled down. "Did you?" She demanded again, but Kayla simply said she couldn't hear her over the music and turned around again. Elena sighed and headed towards the sofa, plonking herself down on it staring in to her lap. She didn't really know what to do, and she was far too drink to make any important decisions.

Tristan noticed that Elena looked like she was tired and frustrated. He sighed and when to sit next to her. “I know you don’t want anything to do with me right now, but you look like you aren’t enjoying this. Do you want me to walk you back to your dorm?” he asked her.

Tristan looked at her waiting for him to get lost or to not worry about it. He wished that Kayla hadn’t gotten to her and told her lies. “It’s late, and it’s not that safe to walk the campus by yourself. So if you wanting to go back to your dorm, I’ll be more than happy to walk you back. It won’t have to mean anything,” he assured her.

Elena glanced up drunkly after hearing a voice next to her. A small twinkle glinted I her eye when she realised it was Tristan before reality hit down again. She sighed softly, throwing her hands up. "Sure let's go" she said, standing up off the couch, taking a second to steady herself as she waited for him.

She let him walk her out to the street in silent, hiccuping softly as she pulled her hair out of her face. "Is that girl your Ex?" She asked bluntly, too drunk to even think about giving context to the situation. "Did you cheat on her?" She asked again.

Tristan looked at her wondering if she had ever been this drunk before. “Let me guess you are talking about Lynn? Yeah, she’s my ex. And no, I didn’t cheat on her. She cheated on me,” he corrected. “I had caught her in the act one day. She had forgotten that I was going to meet her at her house one morning and she had a guy in her bed when I went to wake her up.” He didn’t know why he added that last part. He wasn’t normally rambling when he only had two drinks.

He saw her sway. He grabbed her arm and steadied her. “You are gonna want to eat something and drink some water,” he said, knowing from experience how easily someone could be drunk and not have a fun experience in the morning. “What’s with the sudden interest?”

Elena held on to his arm keeping herself steady, hiccuping every now and again as she walked. "Okay... Do you sell drugs?" She asked, her tone just as blunt as before, her eyes trained on her feet as she tried to keep them going in a straight line. She should not have listened to Kayla about wearing heels. "That's pretty shit about how you found out too by the way" she added, her train of thought flitting about the place.

She ignored what he said about getting food, she wasn't hungry. "You ex, Linda or whatever she talked to me at the party" she slurred, turning her head to look up at him, stumbling even further.

Tristan shook his head. “No, I don’t sell drugs nor have I ever done them. My mom died in a car wreck the driver was high on heroin and cociane. I don’t want to do something to someone’s family that happened to mine,” he replied. He nodded in agreement to her comment about how he found out. “Yeah, but I have to give it to her. She apologized every time and told me she wasn’t asking for my forgiveness. She felt bad and tried to make it right in every possible way.”

He glanced at her as they walked across campus. Tristan had to admit that she was asking him and not just straight out assuming that whatever Kayla said was true. “Her name is Lynn,” he said, correcting her. Tristan wasn’t all that sure if it was going through or not, but he wasn’t going to bother. He only talked to Lynn when he ran into her.

Elena fell silent for a moment, chewing over what he just said, taking deep breaths to try and combat against her own drunkenness. "Tristan I'm really sorry" she said quietly. Stopping still and sitting down on the wall of one of the houses they were passing, looking up at him.

She ran her hands into her hair before letting it fall back in to her face. "God I'm such an idiot" she scolded herself, biting down on her lip as she could feel tears prickling at the back of her eyes. "I should have talked to you or I shouldve.. I don't know" she trailed off, hiccuping as she looked down at her hands, pulling at the Hem of her short dress.

Tristan sat down next to her and looked at her. “It’s fine. Honestly, I get it. You can’t be too sure sometimes. But you have to know now if you have any questions about me. Just ask them,” he said. “I won’t be afraid to answer.”

He reached out and rubbed her back. He wished that she would have just come to him about it, but Tristan couldn’t dwell on that. He was working through it with her now. He pulled her into his side and hugged her to him. “Besides, it’s alright. We’re talking now, aren’t we?”

Elena let her head rest against his shoulder, hiccuping again as she held on to him. "You're not mad at me?" She asked gently, her eyes heavy from the alcohol as tears ran down her face. "I'm sorry about your mom, it's not a nice way to go" she mumbled, running little circles over his hand with her fingers before gently slipping her hand in to hers.

She began to laugh softly, turning to look at him. "Can I tell you a secret?" She asked, her voice low and coated in soft laughter as she spoke. Her face grew closer to his as she waited to tell him her secret.

Tristan shook his head. “No, I’m not mad at you. I’m mad at Kayla for lying to you,” he admitted. He looked at her and smiled weakly. “Hey, it wasn’t your fault. But yeah it wasn’t a nice way to go.” He didn’t want to dwell too much on his mom because he knew he would cry. And he had tried to get passed that for a long time.

Tristan was curious at her words as her face came closer to his. “Of course, you can,” he said. He met her blue eyes and held them, waiting for her to say something.

Elena giggled softly as she continued to get closer to him, cupping her hand over his ear as she got ready to tell him her secret. "I really like you" she whispered, although given how drunk she was, there was nothing quiet about the whisper. She pulled away, her cheeks flushed red as she looked down in to her lap, resting her forehead against his shoulder once more, not able to look up at him.

"But that's a secret. Tomorrow, you forget I said it" she slurred pointing her finger at him, and closing her eye in a malformed wink. "And you can't tell Kayla, be ause she might smother me while I sleep" she added, quickly covering her mouth, her eyes growing wide. Lena didn't usually say mean stuff like that.

Tristan smiled. She was completely adorable. “I promise to not tell Kayla as long as you keep this a secret. I like you too,” he said. He knew that she probably wouldn’t have said that when she was sober, but he was still goin to cherish the thought of her liking him. Heck, she might even regret admitting it in the morning.

“Come on, Elena. You are tired and probably going to regret drinking so much in the morning,” Tristan said. He stood up and reached out for her hand to pull her up. “I mean I can probably try to carry you if you want.”

Elena's face brightened up some as she looked at him "you do?" She asked him excitedly, not even aware that half of her makeup was now smudged down her face.

She groaned a little as he insisted she stand up to walk home, shaking her head as he offered to carry her, not wanting to tire him out. She held his hand tightly as the walked, once again concentrating hard on every step ahead took. They had hardly made it 200 feet when Lena loosened her crib on his hand, taking a step away from him, falling very quiet. "mmm don't feel very good" she muttered softly, gently running her hand over her stomach. "Oh god no, look away please" she slurred, clamping her hand over her mouth and stumbling a couple of steps away from him.
