Ezra smirked, “thanks baby,” he planted a soft kiss in her lips. Not smudging her lipstick. He nodded and took the jacket and tie off, fixing his buttons and looking at Evie “how about now? Also I don’t have lipstick on my lips right?” He asked with a chuckle. He hope the evening would go okay, after the whole Ella and Evie thing l, things were really awkward. Did Ezra feel bad for breaking a friendship, a little. He didn’t regret dating Evie though.

Ezra grabbed his keys before looking st Evie who was in deep thought, “babe are you okay? You seem like you’re spacing out?” He walked over to her and touched her face, “what’s uo?”

"You look perfect" Evie told him honestly, "and no you don't have lipstick" she added with a soft laugh, nervously smoothing out the fabric on her dress. Evie shook her head softly as he touched her face, about to act hard and shrug it off like nothing when she quickly reminded herself that he was who she was meant to share everything with now.

She sighed softly and looked up at him. "I guess I'm just a little nervous, I know that people are gonna be there from that night where we um... Got together and I just... I don't want this to be defined by the fact that you cheated on Ella with me" she said gently, her eyes dropping to her shoes.

Ezra smirked, “great, I want to look decent for you.” He dropped the hands as he noticed her shake her head. Almost like she didn’t want his affection, she was hard to please sometimes. Ever since the break up with Ella things had been a little different, he knew they would be. He just wasn’t quite himself though he was with Evie, but he was sure people talked shit about him and Evie and Ezra didn’t care.

Ezra sighed and looked st Evie, “these people are going to have to get over it, we’re together I was obviously not happy with Ella like I am with you.” He night have been stretching that a little. “Then don’t let it define you, you’re more than my girlfriend..” was she though? How did he know she wasn’t going to do this again? Paranoid was he? Ezra looked at Evie “let’s go, we’re goinf to be late.”

Evie offered him a half there smile and nodded "I'm happy with you too" she told him softly, slipping her hand in to his as he rushed them out the door. She was a little surprised by his rush to get to the party but she knew he was right, the party was starting In 5 minutes.

She sat in to the passenger seat of his car and pulled down the sun visor to look at herself in the mirror again, wanting to double check she hadn't smudged anything when they kissed. "So uh.. my mom's in town next week" she told him as they drove. "Do you think you'd like to maybe come to lunch with us some day?" She asked

Ezra got into the driver’s seat and put his seat belt on, he looked over stab Evie, she was gorgeous. He had to wonder though if she’d ever cheat on him? Would she feel guilty? They both had no regard for Ella’s feelings so it said a lot about both of them. Maybe his conscious was finally starting to kick in?

As he pulled out of the driver way he could hear the nervousness in Evie’s tone and he almost wanted to ask her to spit it out. He wasn’t going to be rude about it. He was surprised by what Evie asked him, he couldn’t believe . “Yeah.. sure. If you really want me to go I will baby.”

Evie's eyebrows furrowed together softly as she felt his gaze fall on her for just a little too long before they pulled out. "what? Have I got something in my teeth?" She asked him, her cheeks flushing a little. Something about being with him, actually with him not just his piece on the side made her feel so much more vulnerable. Evie had always been a girl who knew her own mind and made that obvious to everyone else.. but the last month she had just felt so worried about what Ezra thought of her.

"Nevermind it fine." She responded quickly, clenching her hands together. "you don't want to, it's fine.. I knew it was too soon I'm sorry" she told him with a soft sigh.

Ezra could see how much beauty this girl radiated, all he wanted to do was kiss her. He smiled softly “no you’re fine baby, just staring st how beautiful you are and how lucky I am to have you.” He wondered why she was kind of jittery, she hadn’t been like this when he was still with Ella and he wondered if it had anything to do with her being his girlfriend now.

Ezra reaches for her hand and shook his head “babe I do want to, it’s okay just tell me when. I always get nervous meeting parents.”

Evie smiled at him gently and nodded "okay great. Thank you" she told him sweetly before she began fiddling with the controls of the radio looking for a song to play.

She gave his hand a little squeeze as they drove, pushing her nervousness to the back of her mind as they pulled up outside the bar that her friend's we're hosting the party in. She got out of the car gathering up her jacket, before making her way over to Ezra and slipping her hand in to his as they walked inside.

Ezra got out of the car and followed Evie holding her hand as they walked into the party. “You all right baby?” He noticed how nervous she seemed, he looked at Evie pulling her close and kissing the side of her head, “we’re going to have a great time.”

Evie looked at him and nodded "I'm fine Ez, don't worry about me" she reassured him, giggling as he kissed her. "Ezrraaaaa, you'll mess up my hair" she teased softly. "Of course we will" she added, leaving her arm wrapped around his back as she waved to a girl standing outside the bar. "This is Jess, she's a bit of a pain but a great contact to have for work" she whispered to him as they got closer.

"Jess hello! You look gorgeous" she drawled, engulfing the woman in a hug. "Have you met my boyfriend Ezra?" She asked. Jess extended a hand to Ezra, clearly looking him up and down and judging. "Well you must be special to reel in Evie's wild spirit" she teased.

Ezra shrugged, “okay.” He was simply looking out for her but he should have known better than to ask her if she was okay. He looked down at Evie, then back st the young woman that was walking towards them. He watched as the girls exchanged hellos.

Ezra raised an eyebrow as he watched Jess look him up and down “I’d like to think I’m special.. “ he chuckled. He looked at a Evie and grinned “oh you know I was willing to do what I just to feel her in.”

Evie's smile faltered slightly when she felt the tone of his okay. She sighed softly and pushed the thought away thinking she was just overthinking things. When she heard him joking about doing what he had to to reel her in her face brightened again. She hugged him close, placing her hand on his chest as she laughed.

"Oh he's very special alright" She said with a wink, and continued to speak with Jess for a few minutes before giving excuses and heading in to the bar. "Want to go get us drinks?" She asked softly.

Ezra had his arm around Evie as he watched her friend talk, he smiled when Evie smacked his chest playfully. He let out another laugh when she made that comment, Ezra kissed the side of Evie’s head. He wasn’t planning on being so affectionate but he hoped she liked it.

Ezra stared st her and nodded, “what do you want? I think they have beer and wine..” he dropped his arms as he looked st the table of refreshments.

Evie thought for a second "A white wine would be great babe thank you" she told him with a smile, glancing around the room. She could feel eyes on them, and usually that sense of noticeability would fuel her on, assuming the were all thinking about how food she looked, and now that they we're looking at her as half of a couple? It still made her feel great but a little bit more scrutinised.

Not letting it get to her, she flashed some confident smiled around as she looked for a familiar face. "no way.." she muttered under her breath softly as a smile spread across her lips. "Jamie!" She said excitedly, before moving towards the tall guy, wrapping her arms around him, letting him pick her up off the ground. "Nobody told me you were coming, it's been too long!" She exlclaimed. After a moment or so she looked around for Ezra, motioning him over.

Ezra nodded as he walked over to the table filled with cups and bottles of alcohol. There were so many choices, he wondered which white wine Evie would like, he didn’t think too much as he grabbed the first cup he found, while he was making small talk he could feel people looking at him. Some of these people were friends of Ella and Ezra could feel the judgement. He simply shrugged his shoulders not caring what these people thought.

As he turned around he noticed some guy talking to Evie and he felt his blood boil. He knew what kind of girl she was and Ezra kind of wanted to punch the guy, even thiugh he didn’t know him. He was going to start a scene so he just walked over, handing Evie her drink. “Hi..” he greeted the strange man.

Evie took the drink from him. "Thanks babe. Ezra, this is Jamie- Jamie,Ezra" she introduce them before taking a sip of her drink. "Jamie and I went to college together... He's basically the only reason I survived my degree" she said with a laugh smiling at the two guys. It had been so long since she had seen him, they used to be so close.

Ezra shook hands with the dude, feeling a little weird about this? He watched and listened to Evie talk about him. He was starting to think that maybe she and this Jamie guy had been more than just friends, he wasn’t going to ask and make things weird. Though Ezra noticed the way Evie was smiling and lit up when she talked to him.

Evie watched as they shook hands, feeling a bit awkward at how Extra wasn't really joining the conversation. She cleared her throat softly looking at him. "So hey J, you did some work on That Brightman case right? Ezra works for their company, don't you baby?" She asked, looking up at him, wanting him to be involved in the chat.

She slipped her hand in to Ezra's giving it a little squeeze and glancing at him, wanting to make sure nothing was up.

Ezra didn’t really want to be a part of this conversation he wasn’t interested in talking to this guy. He looked at Evie then the guy, “yeah I do.” He wasn’t really sure what he was supposed to say, he felt Evie reach for his hand and giving it a squeeze.

Ezra decided he’d excuse himself “I will be right back, in going to her s beer,” he patted her back before walking back to the refreshment table.

Evie nodded as he excused himself, glancing at the half full beer already in his hand. She finished off her conversation with Jamie before saying her goodbyes and moving to go find Ezra. She made her way to the refreshments, readjusting her dress as she walked.

"Ez, are you okay?" She asked, placing her hand on his back. She thought she was the one most nervous coming in here but maybe she was wrong. "Do you want to leave? If I just say a quick congratulations to Melissa we can get going?" She offered softly even though she would prefer to stay and party with her friends.
