I have been thinking about making this thread for a while now. I think it's important because I think a lot of people may excell in it...but of course a lot of people have a problem writing it and need help with it.

Of course with Comedy it's easy to get Writer's Block (at least for me anyways) because there isn't really any fan fiction..or fiction in general to look up to when writing it. Not a lot of people attempt to write it because they think it's silly (it's supposed to be.)

Well this is a place where you can get help on that...and just post jokes you think may be funny for other people to check and be sure it is funny...because when your story revolves around Jokes and punch lines...you can't really have flat jokes.

So come here to get help with jokes...even if your story doesn't revolve around comedy but you want to add a joke to make it a little funny come here to see if the joke is funny. Come here to get reviews on comedy chapters (Comedy writers usually don't get reviews maybe a smiley that’s rolling on the floor laughing, but not a review)...help on comedy chapters. Anything that has to do with making your comedy writing better.

And if this thread is not needed lock it...I won't mind.

    Government Aliens!:
it's an easy genre to excell in
That's so incorrect that I'm not even going to bother explaining why.

    Extremely true.
It's a lot harder to write comedy that angst/drama.
Because you have to funny when you right comedy.
You have to have the right balance to your jokes.
    Drama and angst are easy.
You just have to make it really depressing or have lots of problems.
    Comedy's harder.

^Well, to me it's the other way around...
Writing drama is EXTREMELY hard for me, where comedy comes naturally.
It's not easy, but it's easier than drama to me.

    Um....okay...
To what snow job said..when I first started writing the genre of Comedy..It was hard for me..but as I practiced and random people helped me with my first comedy Drawing Reality, I got better and better at writing comedy stories.

I like writing drama like stories. When I write them it is good to put people in dramatic situations...but nothing is better than making people laugh to me anyway. I get a lot more help with comedy writing to. There is this one girl who helped me twice with the story and I did not even ask her to help me..she was really sweet.

The most comedy I really bother with is the snarky satire I use in my everyday life...

I don't think I could ever bring myself to write comedy. It'd be a GIGANTIC challenge for me. I have a sense of humor in real life, but putting it on paper and having it actually be funny is extremely hard. Sometimes, I incorporate jokes into my angsty stories but that's about it.

I have pretty tragic stories most of the time but I love inserting my one-liners and such. Pulling off one huge comedy could be a challenge, but I think I could do it.

Before I say anything, skittles is in no way comedic thing to write about. To me.

Comedy is really difficult to write.
For me anyways. I could never do it.

For me it is way easier to be funny in writing than it is to be funny aloud.
Mainly because I have the option to think about a joke before I post it. Instead of just saying it where I have no option to backspace. If I was to talk to you in real life I would not sound very funny..but according to some of my readers I am funny in my writings.
So I would say go for it if you are afraid to write it. It is a lot easier because you have that time to think..and if you need to backspace because the line is stupid then use the backspace key.
I also like to use journals to post jokes there. Or talk to a friend on Instant message that you trust will tell you the truth about the joke..or use this thread..:D

I think comedy is so, so hard.

I write it, but not well.

But I think it needs description.
    Especially dry humor.
Which is my favorite type of humor.

I like comedy. I dunno...making people laugh is important to me. Someone told me I was the funniest person they'd ever met and that was huge for me.

I tried a few comedy stories. But they were only funny to me. Except for Oopsie!, that was my one successful comedy. But there's a lot t obe desired on this site in terms of comedy.

Drama is my forte, but sometimes I come up with funny stuff that just seems natural. Especially when I have tons of fun doing it. My Frerard collection is pure comedy, and my parody of some song lyrics. :lmfao

Lately, I do a lot of "underlying comedy".
    That's what I call it.
My stories aren't necessarily "comedies" but they do contain humor.
It's very apparent in narration and conversations.
It sort of . . . makes it all more real, I think.

That's very true. Because life doesn't always suck. There's a funny side to practically everything.
