Comedy Fan Fiction and Fiction Writing Help

Depending on the situation, I don't have trouble writing a comedic situation. If my character replies with a snarky comment, I try to base it off something I've said in the past that has gotten laughter. Otherwise, I like to write embarrassing situations for my characters and have someone witness it, causing laughter. I'm not sure if it makes others laugh, but imagining it in my head always makes me giggle.

I think comedy is one of the hardest genres to write, and I've rarely read books that have actually made me laugh in hysterics the way a good comedy movie does. It's a tough thing to pinpoint in writing.
