I have to do that a lot since all I do is write original fictions - those don't seem to be too popular around here.
But I pimp myself about once every two days. It seems to work.

I'm so incredibly lazy beyond belief.
I'll just pimp myself when I have nothing else to do. Which is rare. >_>
So I just wait and when I see review trades I do 'em.

I really only write for myself and then others. -shrug-

i still do those review swaps because usually they will give you a comment that's worth a shit.

I have to agree with that. It would be nice to know if they didn't comment because they thought your story was awful; or that there was some stuff that you needed to alter ect.
Ever the rather beige 'this is so good' ect, is better than nothing.
Though I still write even with the lack of reviews, I just haven't gotten to post them up yet.

Agreed. I got 12 readers for one of my one shots, and no one bothered to comment. I always assumed that it was bad, so I just gradually forgot about it. So sometimes the motivation to write gets lower, but you just have to keep going.

Maybe you just have to do loads of self promotion to get something. I was just always afraid people would hate me for doing that because I'd self promote a lot...

How would you self promote? Like where? At the Pimping section or would it be everywhere?

Oh I do it almost every where XD Like I comment on cool people profiles and if I see their stories are similar then I put somethign like "Uh by the way I'm writting this story that you might like, mind checkin' it out?"

Sometimes they read and comment and still don't tell you.

Sometimes, comments aren't really important in getting stars but, it's like an urge that makes you update. :tehe: What I hate is, you have to make a fanfic before they comment. :grr:

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get someone to review my story.
I've whored my standalone "Depth Perception" shamelessly, and I've even sent messages to a few people whose help I really think I could benefit from, and it has yielded no results.

^ No, you heard right. Those people are supposed to be reported. That's breaking a journal rule.

If you want to swap comments, find a club to join.
People are always willing to swap in those.
Or even the Story/Review Game.

I'd suggest looking at the post just above yours. Also, chatspeak isn't allowed on this forum.

With Default I seem to have had the formula... it's become my most commented and most popular story in a very short space of time. Trouble is, I'm not too sure what the ingredients to that formula are. :XD

It's more comedic than anything else I've written, which is a plus. And on a side note, i have one more reader on my last chapter than my second to last chapter. Something strange is afoot there.

But yeah, I agree that Frerards automatically get a lot of comments. There's a lot of absolute dross getting comments simply because it has My Chemical Romance in it, but i suppose there's not much that can be done about that. Saying that, there's some brilliant writers writing My Chem fanfics, but in a perfectworld site stories would get more positive comments based on the skill and ability of the writer. But it's not gonna happen, to be honest.
