If so, does it make you a little sad inside?

I usually notice, if a bit later.
It doesn't really make me sad, just lets me know that I'm probably lagging a little in updating, or my writing wasn't the greatest. I look back over my last few chapters, try to pick out differences and bad things. I'll edit the bad chapters and try to get better in the future. Smiley

In my n00b days I used to get super upset if I lose subscribers but now I'm like, 'whatever  '
I don't care now cause like, most people read but not subscribe, and I use myself as an example for that. :con: I read so many good stories but never subscribe so I figure out other mibbians do that so yeah :con:

    I never notice.
I never notice extra readers either. I just don't hold the numbers in mind so when I go back to check I don't see a difference.

i've noticed once or twice. it was a bit "oh." but i didn't really dwell on it.

what i DO notice is that VERY often the first chappie of a story with have zillions of 'reads' but after a few chapters you get down to the number that actually ARE consistently reading, it's usually significantly less.

just shows how many people click in but then don't bother to continue.
for me, i think i's because i don't write MCR, FOB or P!ATD as they seem to be overwhelmingly popular here.

i think that happens to everyone, even if you have a successful mcr story they like. i like to think of it as the natural trickle-off. obviously everyone's not gonna stick around.

Um, sorry, but why should it matter if it's an MCR story or not?

it was mentioned that only mcr or fob stories are extremely popular. i'm saying even you are writing a popular mcr story, you will still experience the phenomenon i call "trickle down"

Honestly, yeah. I mean, if I lose one I'm all *shrug* so one person decided to leave BFD. But when I start to lose about three that's when I get the feeling something is wrong with the story.
To me subscribes are important, because I'm not a popular author anyway, and also because [generally] without subscribers there are no comments No

    I don't really notice.
    I mean, if I lost a ton, I would, but I don't if I just loose a few.
I'm really over caring about that, because I know at least people are reading what I've written, and that makes me happy

    I just like to write.

Since I don't really have more than a dozen at most on each story, yes.
Though I don’t bother. I know why; I update too irregularly and too seldom.

I have no more than 20 subscribers in each story Disgust
Naturally, a writer would be upset if the readers would be bored of the story or something :file:

It makes me feel horrible. That why I hate it when story editors subscribe to check it, but then un-sub.

I don't notice, it's kind of hard to.

I don't obsess over the amount of people who subscribe to my story.

Sure, I love it when other people read it, but I write for my friends who love frerard, now, and once they tell me their opinion on it, it's all good.

    I do. I know it's a tad pathetic, but I do.
    I don't blame them though.
I'm horrible with updating and the chapters are getting crappier.
