I only notice because on my one chaptered story it keeps going from 13 to 14 back to 13..i'm just sitting there like is this the same person and they're VERY indecisive or something? lol.
I check the 'info' tab of my story to keep check of when I've updated and to be honest, to check how it's getting on. I know I wrote it for myself, but there's no harm in checking so I do notice. At first I'll go, "oh, what did I do wrong?" but then I go, "nothing, 'cause it's your story, Ellie." So yeah.

I do that too, especially when I've just updated or am about to upload a new update.
Not really, but I write mostly oneshots, so I don't expect people to subscribe to them anyway. With chaptered fics, I go so far between updates that I don't really pay attention to the amount of subscribers because I don't care. Just because a few people decided to unsubscribe doesn't mean my schedule's going to magically clear and allow me to update
Sometimes, if it's a story I've just started and once the second or third chapter is posted I begin to notice. I try not to though, because it's perfectly understandable if I haven't updated in a few weeks
