They say one of the best things is to avoid any food after 6 or 7 pm. That way you won't have a lot of extra fatty stuff sitting in your stomach when you go to bed.

I found another pointer last week as I was searching for tips on running and stuff. It's about your metabolism and that if you do a pretty high intensity workout, it turns up your metabolism. Which in turn burns more calories.

Research has shown that the metabolism can remain at its highest level for up to 17 hours following high intensity exercise!

    From here

Other nutrition/exersize tips can be found here as well.

Don't ever drink soda or carbonated drinks.
    They make you bloat.

Be careful with the fruit too much sugar in them.
Watch how much meat you eat.

    =] Good Luck!

I weigh about 110 pounds. Which isn't that good for a person who is 5'3 tall.

But hey! You just need to learn to love the skin your in, it makes weight loss a whole lot easier.
Learn to dress your self in a way that compliments your lovely shape, along with hair styles.
You might not think so but a hair styles can really change your entire look.

    Good luck.

Story time! :) My weight always go down, then up, then down, etc. I'm bulimic, and what I do to my body is awful. I binge all the time. Concerts are, like, the only exercise I ever get. One time, I went to a concert and went crazy for four hours. My body ached for weeks, but, afterwards, I had big muscles in my arms and legs. :lmfao It was disturbingly weird.

I have a very similar problem. My biggest problem is that, once I start eating some kind of junk food (like chips or candy), I can't stop. I know if I could conquer that, I'd definitely drop some of the fat on my stomach/thighs/etc. I'm definitely going to keep some of the above strategies in mind, because I need to work on that. I wish you luck, as well as everyone in the same boat. ;]

Self control. Just say no. It's hard, but totally worth it.

Tell your family to take away all the sweets you have from your house. Another good way is to wear a shocking device or put the sweets around a shocking device, when you grab a sweet it will shock you and drop the sweet.

-interupts conversation that is going on-

I weigh about 130 and i'm 5'3". Which is bad, because even though 130 isin't a lot, i'm short so it doesn't work out very well...
I walk home from school every day for about 25-30 minutes... on weekends I ride my bike for abour half an hour to an hour every day, depends where i'm going.

I don't eat a LOT, but since my parents don't make dinner for the family, it's kind of all up to me... which completely screws me over. When i'm bored, I eat. Simple as that. (But nothing, NOTHING feels better than knowing I ate only 3 meals and no snacks in a day. I feel SO accomplished. :D)

    School messes me up too... when I get home from school, the only thing I can think about it resting, not exercising. That, and I have the worst metabolism in the world. No matter how little I eat, I ALWAYS gain weight. -_-;

But everyone in this thread should invest in DDR. It's THE best freaking video game in the world, and it's so addicting, and so much fun. x]

    This was long... o_O

Oh, and if you want to cut back on eating, do it the old fashoned way... cut out pictures from magazine of people who are around your ideal body weight, and stick them all over the pantry, fridge, ect. Or make a big sign above the kitchen reminding you about you're 'diet'. (In reality, it's not dieting. It's becoming healthy, and living a healthy lifestyle. Dieting is stupid.)

I don't know about you guys, but every single night I tell myself that tomorrow i'm going to do better, excercise more and eat right. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow... blah. Now's the time.

    Wow. D:

^ Yeah that's one of the worst things. I admit, I'm guilty too of boredom eating. >.<

I would recommend if you want to lose some weight, try different excersizes. After a while, your body gets used to the same routine. Maybe instead of biking on the weekends, go for a walk/jog.

And of course, everyone wants to rest after school, but sometimes, you do have to be strict on yourself and say. "Okay when I get home from school, i'm gonna do this instead of sitting on the couch"

I'd also recommend to try and get your metabolism up. easy ways to do that would be to try and excersize a little more, eat healthier foods, fruts/veggies, and healthy meats like fish or chicken. Also, don't go hours and hours between meals, and snaking on something small between meals keeps your metabolism up as well. between meals, eat an apple or something.

I've been having rapid weight loss lately. Not like I'll drop 5-10 pounds in a month (and I'm not even 6 pounds over weight though...), but I [now] only have to take P.E., and apparently it's enough for me. It's weird, I used to gain weight really easily, now I've been losing weight more than ever.

It's really weird, the best thing you can do though, is probably if you have a sweet tooth, try not to eat AS MUCH as you do/want to, because that's what I do, and it's working. ^.^

Or, if you're full, then you're full, don't eat anything else if you're already full, I used to have that problem. >.>

If you do excersise, and you still go to school (you probably don't- this forum is about two years old or something. >.>) but you can always take up P.E. (physical education- excersise) or sports, jazzercise, etc. Or even simply take a walk every day, it does more than you think it does! ^.^

    Best of luck!

I'm 5'2" and weigh 179. I'm trying to lose weight. In the three weeks since I started college, I lost 1 pound. I'm trying to lose 27 pounds to be in the AFROTC weight standard, but ideally I want to be about 140-135 pounds. I'm trying to exercise every day, and I'm training myself to take even a little bit of salad. It took sooooooo much effort to put down the Ben and Jerry's pint after eating a little off the top after lunch, but it's sitting in my freezer waiting for me to eat a little more after dinner =)

I dropped 50 pounds before boot camp, and in 2 years since then gained about 20-25 pounds back. >.< I'm pissed, but I'm getting serious again on getting back down to about 170. I'd love to in the long run get to about 150, but I've realized my body is not built to be skinny. I can suck in my stomach now and see ribs, at about 195 lbs. My problem areas though are my arms, lower abs, butt and thighs...

Another thing, muscle weighs more than fat too. SO just cuz the scale throws out a high number doesn't mean you're fat. Yeah we all have jiggly areas, but we also are muscular. Me: I'm in the military, for the past 2 years I've been moving around constantly, moving heavy furniture, pting a lot, but not dropping weight like I used to. My theory is that I'm replacing fat with muscle. And while I would like to be smaller, I'm content being stronger.

I'm just mad cuz the Navy has their standards for body fat, and I'm not within them, or so they wanna say. I don't agree with their methods of measuring body fat. =/

I actually have a lot of tips and information involving this area but I'm lazy so I'll just give the most important things:

Aerobic exercise not anaerobic is your friend for weight loss. Aerobic burns more anaerobic builds muscle. A combination of both is necessary for optimum weight loss

A few foods that boost your metabolism: Bananas, and green tea

A few foods that burn more calories then they provide (= wight loss): Apples, radish, celery

It's important to remember that just because you work out one area of your body ie stomach thighs doesn't mean you will lose weight in that area. All your doing is strengthening and enlarging the muscle but the areas in which you lose wight are up to your genetics. Just like it's up to genetics the areas in which your weight is stored.

And salt retains water meaning eating salty foods can make you retain water giving you water weight.

Everybody says that green tea boosts your metabolism but I drink like, three bottles of lipto green tea a day and I don't lose weight any easier than I did before I drank the green tea.

I think a lot of weight loss advice is just common sense.

Burn more calories than you eat = weight loss.

There aren't any magical pills or drinks that are going to do it for you XD
