I only like sad endings if they're executed extremely well. I read this amazing story once, and it was so sad when one of the characters died at the end, and it was so sudden. But it didn't just end like that, there was a beautiful final chapter, and it was the perfect closure. It almost made me cry.

You can't make a sad ending without closure. It's just wrong. D:

Other than that, I like happy endings. The worlds depressing enough, I like to have something to smile about.

I like happy endings. Especially if the characters have been through some majorly tragic things. I seems only right.

I must admit that I'm a sucker for a happy ending but only if it's well written and only if the characters had to weather a lot to get to that point. If the whole story is super happy I want no part of it.

It depends. I just want a realistic ending, which is sadly usually a sad ending.

Either one works for me as long as the story is well written and progresses nicely. I definitel don't want a happy ending that's conjoured out of impossible circumstances. You know, when everything leading up to the last chapter has been a total and complete disaster and then suddenly, poof, all issues magically resolve themselves and there is a happy ending.

I'm a sucker for a happy ending. :tehe:
But I often get into overdramatic moods, in which, all I want to read is things that just make me more depressed.

But, for the most part, I'd go with happy. :cute:

One that ends with a sour note, of course. Why? I am sick of all those happy stories! I prefer an ending in which everything ends uncertain, or an ending that actually ends! Because there is something definitive about endings that end; that is why I like those.

If it's an angsty story that's put the characters through completely destructive emotional turmoil, I'd like to see a decent ending. Even if there's a hug in it, I'll be happy.

But I enjoy tear-jerker endings, as well. They're interesting.

And I'm guilty of loving cliché, happy endings, though. xDD

For me it really depends on the story, and how it progesses.
There's some stories I'll be reading and I want everything to work
out for the characters, and others I'll want everybody to be fucking
miserable. Whatever ending makes the most sense, it really irks
me when it's obvious the story should have ended up with a sad
ending but the author makes everything magically okay, and the same
when everything is going right in the story and everything fucks up
    last minute unrealisticly.

    I'd rather have happy endings.
Real life's filled with enough bad stuff. ><

Sad. I tend to kill most of the characters in my stories.

Blood and gore is my favorite way for stories to end. Sadly, there are few good stories that end like this. :grr:

    Sad endings are no fun.

Happy endings are great if they're not all fluffy and rushed and too fake.

Sad endings can be great too, because a lot of the time the author hints at the promise of a sequel, or some sort of follow up, which eventually would lead to a happier ending.

Bittersweet is one of my favorites. Nothing in life really ever turns out completely happy, and there are bound to be some conflicts. Bittersweets also sometimes have the potential for sequels, so that's a plus too.

Whichever way a story ends, as long as the story works, it really doesn't matter how it ends.

I like both. In fact, a few of the stories I'm writing have sad endings. Camp Strange somewhat has one, and A Maybe Relationship will too.

Sad endings prove that things don't always turn out okay. Real life doesn't always have a happy ending. The sad endings just seem so real.

Happy endings seem almost like fairytales, which sometimes isn't a good thing. They still are nice though.

    It depends on the plot.

But most of the stories I've liked had ended sadly.

Well, if I become attached to the characters, then what would make my day would be a happy ending. . .especially if they've been put through a lot of misery. But sad endings can be really immense and tear-jerking Cry

I actually had that problem. My "Am...?" series is already prewritten, and its sequel has an extremely sad ending. I could not bring myself to end it like that because of my attachment to the character, so I added three more stories to tell a little bit more of the story and give the series a somewhat happy ending. I did everything I could to make it as happy as I possibly could.

That's why I do like happy endings to a certain extent.
