The Vanity Thread

  • Rooke, you're like...the freakin' beauty oracle.

Anyway; recently I dyed some sections of my hair pink, but the hairdye had bleach in it, so now that the--semipermanent--pink colour has faded, it's just a light gingery-blonde. More ginger than blonde, admittedly.

To get it back to my normal colour should I choose a dye about the same colour of my natural shade or a bit darker/lighter considering the colour it is now?

Any hair straightening and eyeliner tips?
    thanks
I can help you out with the straightening tips.

Make sure your hair is brushed out and knot free before you start straightening. It's easier for you to pull the straightener through this way. If you want to keep your hair healthy, I suggest buying spray heat protector for your hair or heat protector cream. It really helps, and your hair looks shiny and silky when your done.

Depending on the thickness and way your hair natuarally styles depends on how hot you should put your straightener. For thick curly or wavy hair, make the straightener hotter. For finer hair, put it on a lower heat setting.

You should only straighten a small section at a time. If you use the spray to protect your hair from the heat, spray it on each section before you straighten that section. If you use the cream, just make sure you work it throughout all your hair so you don't have to re-apply.

Straightening smaller sections makes your hair straighter, and easier for you to pull the straightener through. Just have a clip of some sort to hold up your hair while your straightening one particular section of your hair. I suggest starting from the underside of your hair, and working towards the type.

For best results, get as close to the roots as you can, and pull the straightener all the way to the end of your hair. This reduces bumps.

Finally, if you want your hair to look shiny and feel soft, you can buy sprays for after you straighten your hair. I reccommend Citre Shine.

I hope this was helpful. Good luck.

Thank you so much! I just got my hair cut and thinned out a bit so its a hell of a lot easier to straighten.

Well, eyeliner is not a necessity. I am assuming that you are talking about black eyeliner, and if that is the case, you should try brown eyeliner. Though it takes the same skill to apply, you can smudge it a little bit, and it since it is lighter, the mistakes are less noticeable.
To apply eyeliner properly, you are supposed to:
1)Apply a small amount of water to your brush. If you are using a pencil, make sure it is sharpened.
2)Move the wet brush through the liner, hold the brush like you would hold a pen.
3)Tilt your head back slightly and close your eyes halfway.
    4) Draw a line across the upper lid just above the lashes, from the inside corner to the outside corner of the eye. If you're using liquid liner, allow it to dry before opening your eyes all the way, or the color may transfer into the crease of your eye.
    5) Gently smudge the line with a Q-tip or with your finger.
    6) Line the lower lids. Moving from the outside edge inward, draw a line on the outer two-thirds of the lid or more, depending on the look you're going for. Your line should be slightly thicker at the outside corner, becoming thinner as it moves in toward your nose. Using your brush or pencil, lightly stroke the area. If using a liquid liner, apply it in one smooth stroke.

    I hope that helps. [:
That's Rooke's eyeliner tips, if that helps you.

LAWL! That made my day, srsssly.

I'm pretty sure that you would dye your hair the same color it is naturally, the gingery parts will be the your natural color again. You might want to get a second opinion on that, though. [:

I've always wondered what yellow hair would look like on someone. Not blonde hair, like yellow. Like the color of the Simpson's skin.

First, I'd liked to say you're adorable.
I think that a nice golden brown would look supa cute in your hair, or if you wanted, you could pull off a richer, dark brown/red. Either or. [:

  • I have shoulder length hair and side bangs. Its really thick and a lot of the times, when i havent got a lot of time to do my hair or i'm just to lazy, i put it in a pony tail and I guess it looks at least half way decent.
but all the pony tail-ness has caused my hair to have a ripple in it from the hair band. My hair is ok when its straightened, but I cant straighten it everyday.
Any tips to avoid pony tails?

  • Can anyone give me some tips on how to do scene makeup? I normally just do some eyeliner and I'm good, but I'm going to see Fall Out Boy, +44, Cobra Starship, and The Academy Is... on Thursday, and I wanna do something cool with my makeup for once.

  • So this first one is me a year ago with my natural color.

And these are me now with my dyed color.

I am thinking about growing my hair so it's about halfway down my back but I'm not sure so any advice on a style (nothing too short) would be good.
Also I'm getting a bit bored of this black color and I was wondering if anyone had any other idea's (not un-natural it's gotta be natural for school).
And lastly I am allowed colored highlights for the summer holdays and I was thinking that if my hair is still black then I'd like red ones at the back, but once again I'm not sure.
So any advice on any of them is good :]]

Well I'm going to see them next tuesday, and sadly I think Paul Wall is going to be there. But scene makeup is easy to do.

For eyeshawdow, I would say take a bright color of your choice, and black. Put the black on the top of your eyelid, on the inner corner of your nose, to about half your eyelid. Then take the bright color, like electric blue, and do the other half of your eyelid. Like if you would cut your eyelid straight down the middle, and you did each side a different color.

If you want to do underneath your eye, take the colors you just used, but reverse the side you put them on. Black on the outside, bright color inside.

You can wear eyeliner or whatever with it. Thats really all I can think of to do a more scene look.

Sorry if this didn't help, but that's all I really know how to do. Good luck and have fun at the concert =]

  • Okay, so i cut my hair really short about a month ago, it's still fairly short. Too short for pigtails, only weenie weenie ones. I kept my fringe abit longer though.
And now I find it kind of boring, and want to get some colour in it.
I like the way Gerard Way had his here, I want to get that sort of thing where the back is a bright colour.
Except I have no idea what colour.
I have blue eyes, if that counts for anything?
Im thinking maybe a purple shade.
    What do you guys think?

Wow. You're gorgeous. I'm so jealoussssss.

I think that your hair would look supa good as a rich auburn, you could definetly pull it off. However, if you did dye your hair red, you'd need to limit your showers to a maximum of four days a week, seeing how red is the quick to fade.
For a cut, I would suggest getting very choppy layered style, accompanied by longer side bangs.
Redheads don't get highlights because they tend to take away from the bold color.
Good luck with the hair. [:
