Music, mainly, but sometimes I get inspired by simply sitting on my balcony or being outside with my dogs... that clears my mind and gives me a lot of ideas.

this may sounds strange, but when i'm just out with my friends or watching a movie or doing anything, really, my mind will begin to wander. And when it does this, it starts looking and seeing things as if it were a movie, like little snippits of a film. not from a real movie, but if we're talking about something, i may be watching a little film in my head of what it would look like, and that's where it turns into a story. that's how i get my ideas to write, if that made any sense whatsoever
That happens to me all the time. I'm out and I'll suddenly see something and think of a story idea. Or, I'll think, "That would be an awesome story."

I mostly write about things that have happened to me, except with an alter ego.

The ideas come from when I'm depressed, and I say stuff like 'If only I was braver, I would've done this instead", or "If only I was smarter", or "If only I wasn't in love with him".

Then I realise when I'm writing out the scenes that they'd probably have sad endings, anyway. So it's all good. :tehe:

Anything really, a leaf blowing in front of me, a cat making a suicidal leap for fish, anything can spark an idea with me.

    I...um...

mostly conversations with myself. Thinking about stuff and a cool phrase tumbles out. Or when other people say nice phrases. Snatches of conversation, and turning it into something meaningful. Wondering "why would they say that? what happens next?"

    daydreams.

And sometimes, I write things but I don't know where they came from.

^^ I sometimes do that with songs, like here a line, and turn it into some good dialog, or even distributive piece.

Anything. Some of the best ideas I've had have come to me by total accident, at the most unlikely of times.

I once got the idea to write a Dani Filth fanfiction while walking my dog. I saw a dead bird on the road, and I just got this idea to write Dani Filth as a murderous psychopath. :coffee:

The most common things would be music and movies though.

My newest story, yet to be posted (or finished. I'm tossing up on whether it should be a one shot or a chaptered fic.), is inspired lightly by The Great Gatsby.
Poor boy loves rich boy, set in the 20's (only in England.) and all that. I'm really loving the way it's shaping up, so far, to be honest. :tehe:

    Gerard Way makes me write...
everytime I just think of him, all of these ideas appear.
Though, once, I'd like to write a really long, and decent story that wasn't fanfic.

The idea for my merman Frerard came to me while I was watching Scrubs. x]
It was one of the episodes where the Janitor and Lady were getting married and Turk kept saying that he saw a mermaid.

So...I get inspired by TV sometimes, and movies and music.

The oneshot I'm working on now was initially inspired by an RP of a different pairing I did with Kristen and then it spun off until I could see myself in Ryan.

The plot for When No One Was Looking, The World Heard Everything original came from an RP my friend Kristen and I did for another couple. So I started the story with the intention of following the same basic plot.

But then the whole sleeping thing came into play. And when Brendon had to calm Ryan down, I realized I was writing myself as Ryan. As I told Kristen, I get "wound" and if I wind too tightly I "break". Ryan began to resemble me. It was interesting.

My story Wayward was inspired by the popular kids at my old school, along with these two kids that everyone knew of, but never talked to them.
Everyone would always go on about which girl was pregnant and we always looked them down.
And one day I thought about what those kids are actually like, and what happens to them that no one notices or cares about?

I get most of my ideas from just watching people and making up stories about what their lives are like.
It's very weird, to me at least. :XD

For We're Just Two Boys (and there's nothing boring about the ordinary) it was simply listening a song ("Believe!" by Empires) and it made me want to write, so I did.

I think a lot of people do this, but I have a ton on my mind most of the time. When I really get a good idea, it's all I care about. All I think about. And, until it's finished, my mind races with dialouge from fake people. *snort* But yeah. Random thinks inspire me. Like titles! I came up with one the other day "Dirt Tracks" and I'm starting a story. Things happen.

My dreams. I have weird, vivid dreams and I just want to get them onto paper. Songs sometimes but music distracts me from the words because I get to involved in the music while I listen to it. :XD
