I have a malchi (Maltese x chihuahua) called Acetrix Houdini coz his ears used to remind us of that Astrix character from that comic strip and houdini coz he is an escape artist but hes called Ace for short. I also have a beagle called Lilly Lilac Rubynuts AKA Lilly. Her name is Lilly her colour is lilac and her mum was Ruby and her dad was Peanuts. Hence the name :3

I named my blond and white guinea pig Barney because he reminds me of Barney Stinson, circa HIMYM. And then I named my crazy-haired white guinea pig Albert, as in Albert Einstein.

I have 4 cats as of a few days ago. The oldest one who is I believe at least 6 years old is named Crybaby.
He used to meow all the time. Although I know he's still young his voice is all but gone. His meow is more of a squeak now.

I also have a 1 year old black cat name Marley. Sadly, I did not name her that, but she's a little brat. Disgust

Now I have two 6 week old kittens that stay in my room at all times. Loki and Taka. Mine is Loki and I named him that due to my recent obsession with the Norse god of mischief, Loki. Oddly enough, the little bugger fits that name perfectly. Taka is the real name of Scar and that's what my boyfriend wanted to name him.

I've had a few cats through my lifetime, as well as dogs, but when my parents named them, they always named them based on their personality. For example, I have a cat named George because he was very, very curious when he was young and still is. Then another cat named Yzma because she looked, acted like, and SOUNDED like Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove. Leo, short for Leonidas, because he was very confident in himself and constantly attacking people and other cats when he was little though they were much bigger than him and it was a total suicide mission, still does it.

My pets are always named based on their personalities, which all vary. Whenever I named a pet something I wanted to just for the hell of it, my parents always ended up changing it to something "that fit their personality." I can never just have a pet with a name I want rather than "fits."

My baby kitty is called Cecilia Margaret, after Cecilia in The Virgin Suicides.. It was my favourite book at the time tehe and after Margaret Atwood, the author.
I'm getting a lilac siamese at some point, too, and she'll probably be called Lux Joanne Kathleen... Three guesses who she's named after. File

I chose her name before I got her, but it was always just so perfect for her.

I got a little miniature dachshund when I turned 15. They're German badger hounds, so I thought she should have a cute German name. Now we have Adelle Gracelynn, more commonly referred to as "Della" or "Weiner."

Our old guinea pig was called Elvis because of his hair. I don't remember much of the naming process other then the fact that my brother wanted to name him Doctor Klo (Norwegian for claw), but thankfully we chose Elvis.

This is a really old Forum, but I might as well post. :P
I named my cat VanderCallispan because it sounds like an adventurous name, and cats are naturally curious so it fits well.
Also, he's a mixed breed and very unique looking.
We call him Vander, Calli, and Spanna sometimes.
    He's so cute. =^-^=

When I first saw my puppy Riley, I thought he looked like ice cream. So I named him Riley. Riley's is a ice cream shop where I live. We had to give him away though because he chewed up everything and it cost my parents a lot of money. :( That is how I named Riley.

I adopted my kitty from a no-kill shelter. His original name was "Munchkin" - which I cannot say, so I ditched that name. I looked at his green eyes and black fur and instantly thought Zacky Vengeance, so I named him Vengeance :3
And later that day, my mom told me my kitty was pudgy, so I thought the name was even more fitting xD He's my Prince Vengeance :3

After mythological and historical figures mostly. We had three rottweilers named Loki (Norse), Hera (Greek), and Titan (Greek). Loki and Titan lived up to their names, but Hera would've been a better Artemis.

For historical, I had a lab/German shepherd mix that I named Winston Churchill. She was actually a girl, though, so we just called her Wyn.

I have two cats, Kissie and Sophie.

Kissie, I named when I was three and had already decided on her name before we even got her. :P
Sophie, was a decision between the names Alice and Sophie. My husband and I sent about fifty people a picture of her and the two names and let them decide.

Before I got my dog. I had a list of names I thought were cute. I cut that down to two or three.
The thing was when I got my puppy. I wanted to call her Kiwi but my kept saying "She's not green! You cant name her that!" So instead I named my little girl puppy Spike. I wanted a different name for her. So thats what she got

When I got my cat I wanted to name him Morgan. I like the name Morgan and he was so little at the time I couldn't tell if he was a boy or girl (LOL) so I figured Morgan could be a boy or girls name. My stepdad said we couldn't name him the name of a person so I named him snuggles because he likes to snuggle. When I first found him he snuggled right into my arms and he snuggles with me every night still eight years later. I made Morgan his middle name even if cats aren't supposed to have middle names. His nickname is Snuggs cause my stepdad thinks it sounds manlier (haha my cat is a pansy, he's not manly at all). He's my baby <3

My Mum usually names the animals we get, but for some reason she likes to name some of them weird and some of them normal.

For normal, we have a cat called "Kit Kat" very original and a dog called "Stella".

For weird, Kit Kat's twin was called "Tickle My Whiskers" or "Ticks" for short and we have a Netherland Dwarf Rabbit called "Hob Nob" named after a the type of biscuit.

My piggie (guinea pig) reesies was named because he was a dark brown with a lighter spot on his butt so it looked like he was oozing peanut butter :'3

he passed away June 26th... I know coz that's the day the Maroon 5 album came out and I first listened to Sad. :|

I named my hamster Buttercup because she's a golden color... I just usually do things that fit to their looks.
