That would be because mcdonalds is the lowest quality food.

    Simply disgusting.

Yes, it is. My friend works there, so whenever we hang out she has to stop at McDonald's for food because she's borderline addicted to it now, and when she squeezed the double cheeseburger.... *cringes* It was gross.

I eat fast food sometimes, but I don't really like it much...I'd rather cook at home.

I only like McDonalds (or, Mickie Ds as I prefer to call it) for their french fries.
    Seriously, people, they're delicious!
...Other than that, most of their food is wicked gross.

Maccas here isn't that bad as it was before though. I can say that ever since they enforced those Dietary intake charts or something on the packets.

I cannot eat Hungry Jacks...I literally throw up. Maccas just makes me slightly queasy.

My fast food is sushi. Or just purchasing a punnet of berries or fruit, washing it and eating it. Or I go to those health food places. I'll treat myself to some junk food every once and a while...but I'm not particularly keen on it.

The salads are not that bad either.
    :shifty
But I heard they irradiate vegetables to make the taste fresh for a long time, so.
What bothers me though is the general lack of -decent- vegetarian dishes.

Or so it says on all the nutritional facts sheets - It's because they were once sued for claiming that their french fries were vegetarian while they actually contain beef flavoring.

But stuff like shakes or the McSalad Shaker salad are pretty safe, for me at least.

That's one of the other main reasons why I don't eat at fast food places like McDonald's, Hungry Jacks etc. I'm a vegetarian, and the 'vegetarian' food they have there is pretty poor, at least for my tastes. Plus, one of my friends used to work at McDonalds when she was a teenager, and she told me that the vegetarian stuff is still prepared on the same bench the other food was prepared on and that no one really cared about separating the foods.
-shrug- Call me naive, but I believe her and I don't think it's just some story she made up to tell me. I can't imagine any commercial fast food franchise caring too much about the separation of meat dishes and vegetarian dishes.

Well, yes, fast food can be very unhealthy for you and can cause serious damage later on in life if you don't stop it soon. I know this, as does everyone. I only wish I could stop eating out though. Sometimes I wish for a home-made meal but don't get one.
Anyone who has someone cook for them and makes them a nice home cooked meal is considered the richest and luckiest people I know. We all can't have luxuries such as that, therefore resorting to the quick and easy way out of spending time in the kitchen.

Just wondering: are you not able to cook for yourself?

Personally, I don't like to rely on others cooking for me. Yeah, it's nice, but I think it's silly to want other people to cook for you all the time.

It's ultimately what fast food product you purchase for yourself. Like we have healthy bits which is really healthy actually, all healthy prepared food in front of you etc. I have fresh salads and focaccias. :yah

^Fast food to me is just food that you get from a shop that has already been prepared for you, or you watch it being prepared for you conveniently. There's a shop that I've seen around the place in shopping centres and malls etc. called Sumo Salad, and their salads are quite fresh and so are their rolls and sandwiches etc., but it's all prepared for you. All you have to do is tell them what you want, and they put the salad in a little container, you pay and then you're out of there. That's exactly what you do at, say, McDonalds. So why couldn't fresh salad be fast food?

I guess to me, fast food isn't necessarily always fattening. It's just convenient. Conveniently pre-prepared food = fast food, in my opinion.

Alright i will concede here that food can be both fast and good...

That stuff just isn't really what i was talking about when i say fast food culture.

Unless there is a massive move twards little salad bars pushing mom and pop restaurants out of business, that i didn't know about.

On the sushi though, that's artisan food, and if you are eating it in a typical fast food setting you're gambling with your life, as parasites in certain fish are far more deadly than what you risk from poorly cared for ground beef.
The equipment necessary to keep sashimi grade fish fresh is also much different.
Its not just a fryer, the refrigeration necessary is specialized equipment which you are required by law (at least here) to have if you run a sushi restaurant.

The only "fast food" I reallyeatdrink is Starbucks, and sometimes i'll get a slice of coffee cake. I think it's sad that some people only drink starbucks because it's cool. I on the other hand, really enjoy my mocha peppermint twists .
Other than that we don't eat out all that much.
I don't think fast food affects our culture in america all that much, contrary to very popular belief, it's just that the news often portrays the side of america that eats only fast food and ladida.

I also don't know if any of this has been said, I didn't read the second page and I don't plan on lingering here.
