I was thinking the same thing. That's what I miss most from the Quizilla Forums.
I'm new and a little surprised by the forum software. It seems like a stripped down version of phpbb, which having just installed phpbb 3 on my own site in preparation for beta testing I know is capable of doing polls.

I miss the old editors on Quizilla. Their fancy new real text editors don't do what you tell them to do all the time. So the only logical thing to do was start building my own, mwahahaha. Shifty

Heeey, I remember you! I remember hearing about you-fic.com a long time ago. And I'm pretty sure I loved your Yu Yu Hakusho fanfic.

Planning to begin beta testing for You-fic in October.

I did have a Yu Yu Hakusho fanfiction on Quizilla! I can't believe anybody remembers it or me! In Love I'm still working on the sequel, actually. Just working very, very slowly. Stupidly, ashamedly slow, really.

Quizilla started deleting messages that were over 90 days old, so I lost all the nice comments and reviews I'd gotten. Crying or Very sad

One of the last things I did (actively) on Quizilla was post my own YYH fic, and I vaguely remember you giving feedback on it. Though, I apparently deleted the story and/or the account it had been posted on. I remember when lunarstargazer was writing her sequel to "A YYH Story", somehow I found your story. It was a Hiei fic, right? I'd love to re-read it, and I'd love to read the sequel. There really should be more YYH fanfiction here.

It ended up going the Hiei-fic way. I really fought becoming one of those typical romance fics on Quizilla, especially where suddenly and for no apparent reason two characters are in "OMG TRU LUV" (Shoot me now for typing that, please.)

I talk back and forth with Lunarstargazer on DeviantArt all the time, she's working more on original stories now, although I'd love to see her write a new YYH story some time. She's really growing as a writer.

I'm thinking of posting my YYH story here, although guess I'll have to tweak the quiz elements out. Is Mibba cool with second person? I know FF.net doesn't allow it. I've only been here for a day so I'm still pretty confused by everything.

Somewhere Between Hope and Fear is still up on Quizilla if you really want to re-read it, but the order of things got messed up during the change to the new layout and I haven't had the heart to try and fix it. There's also a one-shot set between the end and the sequel up that went up after the change so it isn't messed up.

That's good to hear. I always liked her plots, I can only imagine how her talent has grown.

There's no rule against second person, but it isn't taken to kindly here. Unless the second person is very well written, like, spectacular, most users would consider it to be horrible. That's usually the stance even from former Quizillians. So, you'd have a lot of work to do if you would want to change it and post it in first or third.

    Mibbians are known sticklers.

Well I like to think mine's very well written, and I've heard that from a lot of people in the past. Ugh, I can't image editing it into first or third person, it's around 400 pages typed. Not only would have to change all the "you" parts, I'd need to change everything to be in past tense probably. I'm not going to waste my time rewriting a finished work.

Hearing that makes me a little sad, but thanks for the heads up. I'll have to think more about if I should post it. I really don't to be criticized solely because of the perspective I used . Sad

I think your story is well written too, I just wasn't sure where you stood with it. I'm sure there wouldn't be too much of a problem with it being in second person. But even then, there are not very many YYH fics here and those of us who do read them probably wouldn't mind. It's an obscure fandom on Mibba, and those of us who are into the obcsure gobble up what we can.

I've had an experience entirely different from that. I think it's unfair to say that a particular type of writing is looked down upon here (except maybe arranged marriage fics). People are even willing to make exceptions on strong preferences if a story is well-written enough.

I've seen it written in countless threads and journals. Generally, second person is not liked here. Mibbians have been known to complain about second person stories more so than first or third. I don't know why, but they do. Quite possibly because Quizilla was/is mostly made of second person stories, whereas many users here left Quizilla because of it. Quizilla is sort of a joke compared to Mibba, now-a-days.

^ Really? I'm pretty frequent on the boards and I don't think I've ever seen second person mentioned on the "Things You Hate To See in Stories" thread or anything like that. I've actually seen it on the "Things You Love..." thread several times. I don't go on Confessions or journals much, but if people are going to use those means to complain about such-and-such story or type of writing, they're opinion probably isn't worth much anyways.
I was on Quizilla for about a year and never saw a second person story on there at all... maybe I was in the wrong fandom, but I've never seen it looked upon as a Quizilla thing here.

That's weird. I've been on Quizilla for years and I've never encountered a 2nd person story. It wasn't until I joined Mibba that I stumbled upon 2nd person in amateur stories and in all the time I've been here, I think I've only seen three or four (definitely not more than five).

I don't think it's really a Quizilla or Mibba thing but a general writing issue. Even among published writing, 2nd person is hard to come by. It's just not a very popular writing style, because it's so hard to pull off. Perhaps some writers think it's generally hated because it's a rare find.

I'm always over on the Things You Hate To See In Stories thread and within the 600 pages (first and second thread), 2nd person certainly is one of the least mentioned pet peeves.

There was a lot of second person in anime fandoms on Quizilla, and I'll be the first to admit there was a lot of really poorly written stuff. I think though that it was mostly because it was being written by new, inexperienced writers. The whole reason I decided to do a work in second person there was to show it could be done well. I was very strict about it, too. Point of views never changed, it was all present tense, and if something happened while "you" weren't around the reader didn't get to know unless another character told them. Now it's something I really have fun working with.

Well, on a side note, since we were talking about her earlier, Lunarstargazer just set up a Wordpress for some of her original work and you can find it here. She told me I could share the link with people.

Heh, I don't suppose there's specific thread anywhere for reuniting scattered and lost Quizillian friends? Or is this essentially THE Quizilla thread? :)

I've never seen second person in the "Things you love" thread, except with the few "when it's pulled off well" posts. But I think that's the thing, I think there's a preconcieved idea that second person is bad writing. I honestly don't remember seeing much of first or third person on Quizilla until original stories became popular (2004/5?). People wrote in the similar style of what was popular or highest rated, which means a lot of people wrote in second person. And I know there are some who still do. I'm sure there were other websites who hosted a slew of second person stories, but I can only compare Quizilla and Mibba, so I don't mean to make this sound strictly like a Quizilla thing.

^ "When it's pulled off well" is tagged on the end of the vast majority of posts on the Things You Love thread. Anything can be written badly, but you wouldn't love it if it was.

Well, I mustered up my courage and patience and reformatted the first chapter and put it up here tonight. I think you'll find it's a rare, good example of second person.

Still, it's a little less fun I think without the quiz elements I was able to put in on Quizilla. Sad

I don't suppose anybody knows if Alice-in-Black from Quizilla is around here? She and I used to talk a lot but lost touch after they switched to the new layout.

I was a quizilla transfer, and I can over becuase of the viruses and it just acting strange. Also you kept reading the same stuff over and over again. Once a story got popular you'd see more stories just like that taking up the top rated list. I do not go to quizilla anymore, but I do miss the stories. I wish some authors would transfer from quizilla to mibba. :)

I still have my Quizilla account and I still use it frequently. I like it a lot better because it doesn't concentrate on the layouts and forums (although the layouts are pretty and the forums are helpful). I find them annoying because Mibba seems to concentrate on being all glittery. I've had an account for years, but I never put anything on here until a year or so ago. Nor did I have any friends, but most (if not all) of my current friends are from Quizilla and they moved their stories to here. I just seemed to follow for the heck of it. Mibba is slowly growing on me though.
