Good point that maybe his gf will draw him back to Winnipeg. She is a resident there doing family medicine. I'm not quite sure I get how their relationship works because she doesn't have a lot of free time to visit him much and he only has a few months off. Also it's not like she will be able to be a doctor in the US so if he goes to another US team or stays with the Kings, how does it work? I know the US is not easy for doctors who come from foreign countries, a lot of them end up working other fields like pharma because it's way too hard to get licensed here. Maybe they are nicer about doctors from Canada though.

I don't now if this is bad of me but I can't imagine that he doesn't cheat on her.

    Thanks for letting me know.
And no, I am not from Winnipeg - I have been there once, and it was pretty low key!! After playing in Philly and LA, I cant see Winnipeg having enough excitement to make Mike's short list of teams he would want to play for.

The only thing was, wasn't he seriously dating a girl who was a Orthopedic Resident in Winnipeg? If he is still with her, that may be a bit of a draw.

But I do think those Winnipeg rumours are started by people in Winnipeg. 'Peggers are always looking for something to occupy their time!

Yeah all your messages came through, the only one I didn't see was the one talking about Richards at 3C a day or so ago. I agree with you that it's interesting about where he will end up if they let him go. I read one article saying Winnipeg because he's from the area but I'm not sure why he would want to go there since they aren't very good and a better team will probably want him. I apologize if you happen to be from Winnipeg but it seems that they are always lusting after their local boys like Toews and Richards and it comes off as a bit much to me. It didn't work out when Fehr went there.

I think everyone can see how it is with Taylor and Mike except for them, but they are slowly clueing in. I just reread the next several chapters that I have mostly written except for a couple holes and there is a lot of good stuff coming:) Hopefully I can post the next chapter this weekend, got to finish part of it first.

No need to thank me. I just was reading some of the comments on your final chapter and many of them were on the "negative" side, so I wanted to give you some support. I think sometimes readers confuse not agreeing with the ending with bad writing. I get that many of them were disappointed that the story ended with Sid broken hearted, but that fact certainly did not diminish the flow of the story or the quality of the writing. Your writing was excellent and actually you should view their emotional outbursts as positives - you created characters that they became invested in and cheered for. You "moved" your readers - and isn't that all any writer hopes to achieve.

I want to reiterate that I think you (and all the other writers on this site) are brave to put yourself out there in such a public domain - especially when you make plot decisions that may not be "popular". Stand by your beliefs! You did a beautiful job on "Counting Stars"!

Not sure whether my second comment came through to you - it was the first time I used the "quote" button.

You are right that it's kind of a dick move by Jessica to force Taylor into sharing with Mike. She has her reasons though, more than just wanting to be with Jake.
So Jessica is trying a little "matchmaking" is she?? Maybe she can see something that Taylor and Mike cant!

Yes, I get that Richards has lost a step -he never was really known for his speed - but his ability to read the game and take key face-offs has not diminished. The problem is that he still has 6 years on his contract - at 5.75 mil per year cap hit. That is a pretty big price to pay for a 3 or 4th line centre. But if the Kings use their compliance buyout, then Mike would be free to negotiate with anyone. I even think he could fit in as a 2nd line centre on a team like Chicago - they are in desperate need - but with having to re-sign both Kane and Toews this summer, they may not be able to afford Richards. Perhaps Anaheim??

It does make for a lot of discussion.

Well Richards is a 4C on the Kings but I think he could be 3C on another team. The articles I read talked about him losing a step skating so he's slow now. But he still has his intelligence about the game and his hands and he's great on the PK. It will be interesting to see what happens. He makes way too much money for a 4C so it seems the Kings might be forced to act and buy him out or trade him and retain some salary. But they do like him a lot so who knows. I think he is important to them winning another Cup but not as important as the first time around when he was 2C. Carter seems to have that role now.

    Onto your comment:

Funny that you ask about alcohol. I just recently wrote a convo between them about drunk sex! But they are in a wilderness area and they drank all the beer the first night, so no more alcohol available until they get back to civilization. If anything happens between them while sharing that tent, it won't be due to drinking!

You are right that it's kind of a dick move by Jessica to force Taylor into sharing with Mike. She has her reasons though, more than just wanting to be with Jake.

I just wanted to say thanks for your message on the conclusion of my story, Counting Stars. The last chapter received mixed messages so your comments really helped validate my choices. Also you said I was talented and that was sweet, so thank you!

I heard a similar rumour. His role on the Kings has certainly changed over the season. He is basically now a third line centre. Although I think he has shown his value in the playoffs - winning key face-offs and good work on special teams. I just don't know if that is enough to justify his salary next year.

A buy-out might be the best thing for him. It would be hard to leave the Kings, but started again after he was traded from the Flyers. And with a buy-out he could chose where he wants to sign.

Cant wait to see what you have planned.

I just read recently that Richards might be bought out or traded. Things won't be so easy for him anymore. What a change for him! I think I need to finish this story though before that happens because it will make me sad to see him become some kind of scrub.

I hope you enjoy what I have planned for Mike and Taylor!

I agree with you. Mike has had it too easy - girls dropping their panties at the "drop of a hat". Taylor is very different from those girls - perhaps Mike would find that a little intriguing. Maybe even a challenge. What athlete doesn't love a challenge!

And as for her respecting him more - respect has to be earned. Mike's reputation has done little to inspire respect. He has to undo a lot of that BEFORE Taylor could ever start to respect him. Although I think he is making some progress.

Love to see what you have in store for these two.

I am enjoying the contrast between what they say to each other and then what they both privately think and how those thoughts are much more in line.

I think with a guy like Mike, he has to not get bored, because he's been there and done that with all sorts of women. Taylor is a lot of things, but she's not boring and predictable or easy. So she probably has a better shot of him staying interested, but she would have to drop the attitude for it to work long term. Because he just gives her the attitude right back and they won't get anywhere that way. Also it would help if she respected him more.

No Taylor hasn't figured things out yet - her body is telling her one thing but her brain hasn't quite gotten it yet. And boys are sooooo easy, if you really play your cards right.

Keeping Mike would definitely be a challenge - but Taylor is a pretty self-assured girl. She may be satisfied with Mike for right now, and let the other stuff fall where it may!

Hey, it's nice to see you commenting on one of my stories again! You always write such nice detailed, long comments that I appreciate. As usual, you understand things much better than the characters themselves:) Taylor hasn't figured out that if she is nice to Mike, he'll be nice to her. She certainly hasn't gotten far enough to decide she wants him and to do something to get him. Because he would be ridiculously easy for her to get, even acting how she does now. Keeping him might be another story though!

awwm I missed your comments! <3 I hope I don't disappoint you in the updates to come. I'm still kind of unsure how to play Vicky's treatment in the story, but hopefully it will all work out well! :)

Thanks for you comment on my Toews story. I think Jon was feeling pretty bad for how he treated Josey, so he was willing to open himself up more that usual. On some level, he is aware that he's attached to her and needs her, so he had to do something to make her willing to give him another chance.
