The Black Parade Is Dead!

The Black Parade Is Dead! After months of anticipating its release, The Black Parade is dead! Finally came out. It wasn't until 3 days later that I got it, but I was still as excited. When I got home and saw my mum holding it, I screamed, before grabbing it and running upstairs to play it on the play station.

From the start I was interested, watching as the band walk down the hallway in there Black Parade uniforms, seeing them all hi-5 each other. And hearing the crowd chant 'MCR, MCR, MCR'!

When the actual performance began, I felt like, once again screaming. As Gerard Way sat up in the gurney he was lying in, and began singing 'The End. Throughout the whole song, the crowd never stopped screaming, and I never stopped watching. It was almost like I couldn't take my eyes from the screen. Then the band shot straight into Dead!, with Gerard shouting "Mexico". The song was fast paced, as always and Way always kept the crowd going by holding the mic out and getting them to sing for him.

'This is how I disappear' and 'The Sharpest Lives' follow with equal amounts of energy, before the haunting piano tune started up and the band played 'Welcome to the black parade'. A slower song at the start, but not any less interesting and captivating. I don't love you' brings the tone down, as it starts the stage is pitch black. Then when the drum beat starts up, bright blue lights are shone. 'House of wolves' brings the tone right back up. Starting with a screeching guitar and yet more haunting piano, then a drum beat takes the other instruments into the song.

'Cancer', my personal favorite live song, starts with a strangely familiar piano tune, which then morphs into that of the actual song, as you see a silhouette of Gerard towards the back of the stage. He slowly walks towards the mic and begins singing, clearly giving it his all. At the end he trails off for a few seconds in the line 'Cause the hardest part of this, is leaving..... which he ends beautifully, before blowing a few kisses, and ending the song with 'You'.

'Mama', 'Sleep' and 'Teenagers' follow the trend of an amazing performance, before Gerard stops to announce to the crowd the reason that they are filming the show announcing. "This is the last show of the Black Parade, forever". The rest of the band return to the stage, so that they could play 'Disenchanted'. Guitarist Ray Toro, starts playing the acoustic guitar he now has, as Gerard begins singing the song. Then the band kicks in full force with the rest of the song.

The final song of the Mexico show was 'Famous last words'. The crowd sing-a-long for this song, was the strongest it had been throughout the whole show. With the crowd singing the whole line 'I see you lying next to me, with words I thought I'd never speak. Awake and un afraid, asleep or dead'. It was so powerful it could bring a tear to your eye. The show ended with Gerard proclaiming "The Black parade is dead!"

The Hoboken show, in my opinion was better, in the sense that it was more intimate. The band were talking with the crowd and ofter helping the out if they were too hot. They played their new, Untitled song. And when asked what it was called, Gerard replied with "I'm not gonna tell you the title 'cuz then like a year later when we re-title it you guys will bitch about it, so.....You know it's true, you know it's true. Actually, the title it has now is the final title, but I'm not telling you what it is....It's totally awesome..."

All in all, I think the DVD was amazing. And I would recommend it to anyone, even if they weren't a fan, they still wouldn't be able to deny how amazing it actually is. My Chemical Romance killed off The black Parade, and they did it well.
