Amy is a normal young girl half way through her university education studying history just outside London. She was born after the Revolution, and has never even contemplated what it would be like to imagine and to dream. She's always had her inexplicably curious streak, but she's lived her life under the radar, never standing out, never challenging the government she's grown up with, and never getting into trouble. That is, until the day she meets Casper.

After a very unpleasant few years in the modern world, Jay was almost glad to be sent to prison, only for the very van he was travelling in to have been hijacked by the Dreamers. He was taken in by them at a young age, and has loved it ever since. He is known for being a little daring and dangerous, often bordering on foolish, and enjoys practical jokes.

Kira, other than Amy, is one of the most recent people to have joined the Dreamers, but ever since joining seems to have feelings for Felix, who also seems to return them. The question being asked by the others is, quite simply, when will they get together? Kira is a sweet girl at heart, but can be surprisingly stubborn and argumentative when she wants to be.

James Wolfe joined the Dreamers at the age of twenty-one after a lengthy prison sentence, introducing himself as Wolfie, and has kept the nickname ever since. No one has called him James since before he joined the Dreamers. He is a cheerful man, friendly with Felix, Jay and Casper, and is renowned throughout the base for having a great sense of humour.

Linzy is Amy's new roommate--an ideal match after having to spend a night with Leah. She's a poet at heart, and enjoys nothing more than expressing her emotions, particularly towards the Dreamers and the government through words, and is an abrupt, outgoing person with a great sense of humour.

Felix is one of Casper's friends. He joined the Dreamers when he came over from his native Ireland to get back at a gang of marauders who took his friend away for imagination related crimes. Though Felix can be rather agressive due to the violence he was subjected to in prison, he is also a surprisingly friendly person at times, and has a great sense of humour.

Nightshade is the rather quirky, eccentric leader of the entire London Dreamers' base, and has been so for around three years. She became a Dreamer when she was still at University, and has been living the rebellious life ever since. She openly admits to being a little strange, though always cheerful and friendly, and is completely convinced that she is psychic.

Matt is one of the Dreamers, favoured by their leader Markus, and envied by many other men. However, he still manages to keep himself firmly grounded, and he is a friendly, outgoing man, boyfriend to Imogen and good friends with Casper, even though they are not without their differences.

Imogen is a Dreamer, girlfriend to Matt and also good friends with Casper. She is a naturally outgoing, happy, friendly type of person, so is hugely excited when she meets the new girl, Amy.

Leah wanted to be a rebel ever since she was old enough to have a political opinion. But it's never easy to make contact with a group whose main priority is to stay hidden, so in the end she was forced to commit deliberate crimes in public, just to get found out by the Dreamers. She believes that anyone who has ever complied with the normal way of life is a betrayer, and for that reason she prefers to be alone, even amongst the Dreamers.
