Awww, everything was going so swimmingly, and then the damn CUNY envelope had to show up again. And, really, I can't believe that Evelyn waited until now to say something about it. Of course Ben's going to be pissed off. But, I hope they can work things out (though I know it's going to be a long, long time because, let's face it, you love writing drama as much as I do). Anyways, more sooooooon =)
Okay, before I get all into the BAD stuff that just happened, I absolutely LOVEDDDD the beginning of this chapter because it was so adorable. It was the super-couple that we all love and know out with the Hawks guys and gals partying it up.
Leaving the bathroom, her stilettos clicked on the wood floor of the bar. She slid back onto her stool, taking a sip of the fresh drink that Ben had no doubt ordered for her. Smiling at her bearded husband, she pressed a kiss to his cheek. Grinning stupidly at her, he moved forward and rubbed his face against hers, making her squeal with laughter. It was no secret to anyone that knew her that Evelyn was a huge fan of beards. It's these little details that make things feel more real about this story, which is hard to do in third-person omniscient. It's hard to get a feel for being IN the story, you know? But you do it amazingly. I don't know how, either! Personally, I have a tough time reading stories on this site that are third-person stories because people don't quite understand how to grasp the reader's attention. I'm more of a first-person writer because I want people to feel like they ARE the character, but somehow, I feel like I'm Evelyn when you've written the story in third-person omniscient! OMFG. I'm spazzing out right now because its so freaking awesome.
Evelyn stood in the kitchen in nothing but her robe, bending down in front of the fridge trying to find Ben something to eat. He was always hungry after sex. Always. That made my friggin' day. For real (other than Jussi Jokinen winking at me. LOL). I don't know, but I just found it abnormally funny. I laaaaaughed and got weird looks from my parents. I couldn't tell them WHY I was laughing, of course. But its these little things that make a character a character. And its these little things that make us love him. When you're in a relationship with someone, you notice those quirks in their personalities. Its knowing these things that make us feel like Evelyn. Even though I told you all about how he wasn't my favorite anymore, its Tuomo quirks like the way he always makes this funny movement with his mouth because his mouth-guard bothers him, the way he always does this funny little half-smile when I have an animated conversation with my friends, the way he is a nerd by playing the saxophone, likes the smell of cinnamon rolls, and thinks that the Harlem Globetrotters theme song is the Rocky theme song just makes me lurve him. So knowing those funny little quirks about Ben gives us an idea of why Evelyn loves him soooo much.
Now, lastly, I have NO idea what you're going to do with them. I can't think of any easy way out of this, but I believe in you to help them get through their conflict. I cannot WAIT to read more of Benny Boy and Evelyn. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Waitress walks past the table... Me, muttering under my breath: Refill, bitch. You, looking behind me with an odd look on your face: I think she heard you. Me: She did not. You: She totally heard you. Forty-five seconds later, waitress comes back with a new glass of lemonade for me.
HEH. My bad.
OMG. BEN'S RESPONSE WAS "My bad." TOO. Wow. I don't know if I should laugh at that or be a little concerned that I act like a man.
Also, Evelyn totally deserves Ben's wrath. Especially since she's going to break his heart even more if she decides to go to New York. Tsk tsk. Tangled web of lies.
i got all excited for birthday sex, i'm not even going to lie. long, hot, sweaty, rough birthday sex.
i loved this update because it proves that ben and evelyn are a real couple. it's not always rainbows and butterflies, and some stories on here only have their relationships like that. fights happen and sometimes, much like in evelyn's case, there are times when one of the people in the marriage want to go to/back college and that takes a lot of strength on both their parts. it's not an easy deal but i feel like they'll both be able to handle it.
"...Ben wasn’t a good dancer, but he was trying, and that was enough to make Evelyn extremely happy and highly amused. Ben is just the sweetest ! I hope everything works out between them... Great update <3
Awwwwh, no... They were so cute at the beginning. And I love how he was loud enough for everyone to hear, lmfao. And uh, oh no Evelyn. I can't wait to see what her decision is, and Ben's reaction. More soon? <3
