Nice finish I loved that last line! "Branches break, leaves blow away, fires singe, sap flows, but a tree keeps growing." that needs to be on some kind of poster!

Very nice chapter . Their reunion was so touching and also their dialogue under the Northern Lights . I found this beautiful : "He’d spotted her in the trees, looking around with wonder, otherworldly, just as she’d always been. She was the same in that respect, ethereal and lively; a forest nymph, But as she’d turned around he spotted the difference. It was in her eyes, the slightest difference there. Something he hadn’t immediately been able to put his finger on, until he finally realized, the tragedy, it was gone. The pain he’d once seen in those beautiful eyes no longer shone through like a knife among diamonds. He’d thought he was crazy, to see something like this, something others would never spot, but it was there nonetheless. To him she would always be that tragically beautiful young woman carried away on a gurney that fate compelled him to speak with "
