    Chapter 11

His approach to the police suspects is interesting. I mean, I know that he feels he would know the guilty party by just watching how they react and looking in their eyes, but honestly, if the killer is a true pyscho or even a skilled liar, he’d be able to fool Brian. He’s not trained to look for the little signs of a guilty party, so I’m hoping the guy who did isn’t very smart or deceptive.

I sincerely hope Brian realizes what he’s doing. I mean, I know he’s angry and desperate to find the man who took his child from him, but he’s digging himself into a deep hole. If this Milton character is the guilty party, then what does he plan on doing? I know he wants to beat the shit out of him, but is planning to go further and actually kill him? If not, then by taking potential evidence from the guys house means he’s unlikely to ever be prosecuted and convicted of the crime… he’s sort of shooting himself in the foot by doing what he’s doing and I can’t help but wonder why he doesn’t let the police do what they’re supposed to.

Aww, I’m sad that Emily left. Don’t get me wrong, she had every right to, considering she feels like Brian has abandoned her when she needed him the most. I know he doesn’t mean for her to feel that way, but I really think he would’ve been better off just telling her the truth. She would’ve been mad, sure… but it’s better than letting her think he’s possibly cheating on her.

Sheesh… see, now he has the evidence… but it’s tainted and useless. No prosecutor could use that to put Milton away because Brian took it from his house… his finger prints are all over it. Gah! Silly man.

Btw, I’m glad your grandmother is doing well! On to the next chapter!

Oh this new chapter was such a tease! I can't wait for 14 when we get to all the trial details and such. If he gets off, I'd go to his house and burn it down! He doesn't deserve to live, the sick prick!

But I think I'm getting too far ahead of myself.... New chapter, soon, please!

I absolutely love this story! When I read that one-shot and found out there was a story, added on with it, it was like a Christmas bonus! Heheheh.

The story is just absolutely amazing and even if the chapters aren't 20-30 pages long, they are done well and aren't too long or too short. You write awesomely well and I give you extra points for being able to write out the little girl's murder. I don't think I could have have the nerve to actually type that all up and reading it was bad enough!

I just hope that things get better between Brian and Emily! Losing a kid -- any age -- is gonna be hard on the parents but I really hope they work through it and things get better! Please update soon! I can't wait to read more of your awesomeness.

So it looks like Milton is the guilty party, but I have a feeling that he may be hiding those things for someone else ... Lucy's "dad" for instance? Mmmm .... I wonder if someone else murdered her and Milton is covering up for them?

    Please update soon xx

Ps I'm glad your grandmother is getting better Smile

Well, chapter 9 was sad to read. But good in a way... I mean, it was nice to see Brian being able to let go of his emotions and really feel the grief he's going through. It wasn't pleasant the way he got so drunk and fell down in his own vomit... but it's those kinds of times that will snap you out of your drunken stupor long enough for him to realise the alcohol won't help. It's like a band aid, might numb the feelings for a while, but they'll always come back.

The hallucination of Lucy was interesting. It was nice to see him get some comfort from it, for him to realise Lucy isn't alone, she's with someone else he cares a lot about. It's exactly what he needed to help him get some closure on his loss... almost as much as he needs to find the person who did it and make them pay.

It was nice to see couple share some time together in the beginning of the tenth chapter. They had some real, somewhat normal time together... just comforting one another without having to mention the loss that was still sitting in their hearts. It was nice to see they're sticking together to get through this, rather than drifting apart which is so often the case.

I'm glad that Brian has a list of potential suspects now... I just hope he finds the right one and doesn't get himself into too much trouble trying to find him.

I hope your grandmother is doing okay, sorry to hear she's ill Sad

Wow... that was very... graphic. But hey, you did warn us, so I did try to prepare myself. I figured she must have been raped, since I assumed a pedophile kidnapped her in the first place. But I didn't expect her doll to be shoved down her throat... jeez, that's horrible.

I can't believe the coroner even showed Brian those pictures. Honestly, even if Brian wanted to see them, he never should have. It's not how he should remember his little girl... those images will haunt him forever now. I mean, it's bad enough just hearing what happened to her, let alone seeing it. I hope they find the person who did it and Brian beats the absolute shit out of him... before he shoots him dead. It's only deserving.

*Sigh* Well, I do look forward to the next chapter and seeing what happens next...

Oh - what can I say - this chapter was so hard to read - I can't imagine any parent that really has to deal with this issue. Poor Lucy - such a horrible thing to happen. Thank God this is just a fictional story - please update soon

    Oh... no... Sad

How devastating! Poor Lucy... poor Brian and Emily. Argh, you broke my heart for them! So so so sad.

An agonized sob broke through his lips for a brief second before he controlled himself.

That was a hard sentence to read, because I can imagine how hard it must be to try and reign in your devastation long enough to give the coroner the identification he needed. It's just... so upsetting.

I also upsets me that they don't have any kind of support system right now. I mean, yeah, they have each other... but Brian is so busy worrying about easing Emily's hurt and trying to console her, that he's not allowing himself to grieve and feel his own pain. Which won't be good for either of them in the long run. *sigh*

I hope they find out what exactly happened to Lucy and whoever is responsible is beaten into a bloody pulp. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.

shiiit :( this is awful.. I was fighting against tears the entire chapter.. and I cry too sometimes when I write. We create a sort of bond with the characters and it's hard to keep our emotions under control. But great chapter :) And I can't wait for the rest of the chapter

Good God this story is just so .... I have no words! You are such a talented writer. The emotions you convey in your characters are just so .... real. I'm really devastated that Lucy is dead. I hope we find out what happened to her and who murdered her.

    Please update again really soon.

oh my god, you want to kill me xD but I think this chapter was great as it was. And the fact that emily actually threw up makes it very realistic. Of course she's feel sick to her stomach. It's her daughter. And I can't wait to read the next chapter

I agree with AJ9, this story is incredibly powerful. You describe their feelings and reactions very well... it's easy to just about step into their shoes and feel like you're experiencing it all first hand. Which is awesome, but very sad at the same time.

I do hope that the little girl found isn't Lucy. I can't imagine what it's going to do to them if it is... I mean on the one hand, they'll have closure... but it's definitely not the kind of closure I wish them to have Sad

Oh, well that's my bad! I thought it read like she was already pregnant, just the way he spoke of her boobs being big and full and mentioned pregnancy... I must have interrupted wrong. Sorry!

Jeez... Emily isn't doing so well. She's very robotic and... broken. I feel so bad for her, she really doesn't know how to deal with the fact that her child is missing. It's heartbreaking.

I can't believe the audacity of that stranger to say that to her... it's despicable! Maybe they should open their minds and realise that people deal with grief in a lot of different ways... and honestly, there's no point trolling the streets in search of Lucy, because at this point it seems quite obvious she's been kidnapped. I understand Brian needed to get out there and search high and low, but that's how he deals with his pain. And this is how Emily deals with hers... what a rude asshole, that cashier!

It really is heartbreaking to see what Lucy's disappearance is doing to Emily... and her health. She seriously needs a support system right now, more than ever. I hope they get some help soon... because they can't do this on their own. They definitely need people there to keep them from falling apart...

"I love you, Emily, I love you so fucking much. I love your beautiful, beautiful eyes. I love your gorgeous soul. I love your fucking existence. You're so beautiful, and you're so perfect. Please don't ever leave me. I love you."

That is so incredibly beautiful, in such a real and raw way. I like that it wasn’t just a sappy speech… it really felt from the heart and like something he could genuinely say to someone. It was perfect.

It was very heartbreaking to see how broken poor Brian is... I mean, I totally understand why, but it's hard to read just because it's so emotional; in a good way, of course. Well done.

It's little weird for me to read this right now, as I've just spent four hours searching a local neighbourhood with my best friend and a bunch of concerned citizens for a 7 year old girl with severe autism that went missing this afternoon. She was thankfully found 8 hours after she went missing, safe and okay, but it was still very scary and I didn't even know her. I can't imagine what it would feel like to be the parent of a missing child... it would be so gutwrenching and terrifying. *shudders*
