I find Sid's reactions interesting. He is quick to snap with his jealous pout - slamming doors and all, but is not willing to man up and tell Mia he wants her to come home to be with him. He is pissed when he thinks she wants to remain to be with Jake.
And then Mia has Jake acting all proprietary, even though she had clearly broken things off with him before her kidnapping. I get that Jake obviously still cares for her and must have been sick with worry while she was held captive, but the whole "big dog marking his territory" standing his ground with Sid was a bit much.
And it will be very interesting once Sid and Mia are able to get a room together - one with a lock. And a condom!
I was so glad that Sid and Mia did get some alone time. At least they could keep themselves in their own cocoon for a little while longer. Very soon the reality of the world around them will encroach on their happiness bubble and they will have to face some big decisions.
I do like how Sid has really tried to learn who Mia is - and why she reacts a certain way. He has also tried to get her to open up to him - and to trust him. This to me says he is invested in pursuing a real relationship - or at least trying.
I think Mia is afraid. She doesn't open up easily and I get the feeling she feels that love is not in the cards for her. But in order to experience true love you must be open to both give and in turn, receive. Being closed off doesn't work.
There is still a lot for these two to work through. I will be interested in where you take this.
So Mia was the target all along. Crosby was a collateral victim. Still so many questions - with Kadri's death, they may not all be answered. The Mario hockey card still puzzles me.
But even though they are "free" now, things will not be easy for Sid and Mia. Firstly, they cant even get a minute alone. Everyone wants a part of Mia. Sid was obviously anxious to reach out to her, but did not want to make a "public" scene.
Secondly, I wonder what Sid's family will think about Mia. If the doctored videos have been leaked to social media, they would have seen them. They do not know Mia - like her colleagues do - and may not be so quick to dismiss that she was not involved in their son's kidnapping.
Finally, Sid's eyes have definitely turned green. His jealousy became apparent again when he saw Mia being embraced by Jake. Will he question Mia's feelings for him? Did they ever even discuss feelings? Maybe he will view it as Mia just doing what she had to do to survive.
Sid did state he wanted Mia in his bed every night - will he reach out to her before he is shipped home?
With them finally being rescued, so many things are going through my mind.....
So Hassan lied. Surprise, Surprise. Mia’s fellow officers were not dead. In fact, they were not even injured. I am really interested in the whole back story. Who was Hassan – other than the Ali brothers’ brother. Did he have a Canadian connection? Why did he have an old Mario Lemieux hockey card, and why did he give it to Zahra?
Poor Zahra. She seems to be a helpless pawn in all of this almost as much a prisoner as Sid and Mia. Her hatred for Hassan was evident. But her desire to help her father eventually outweighed her fear of her “captors”. I hope she will be ok.
I also hope Mia remembers the young mother they scared during the escape and finds a way to help her. The woman was only protecting her children and is simply another victim in all of this.
But my biggest questions revolve around Sid and Mia. They are finally rescued, but now what. They were brought together under extraordinary circumstances, relying on each other to survive the ordeal. How will they function in the “real world”. Sid talked about “I’ll” be flying home, not “we’ll” in the rescue helicopter. What about Mia being in his bed every night?
Thank you so much for the update. Hopefully the next one will come quickly.
Wow, I go away for a weekend and come back to not one, not two but THREE updates. You are on a roll!
It must have been that All Star performance that inspired you.....Ha! Ha!
I loved Crosby's declaration to Mia - the one she shot down - but I am pretty sure he will not hold her to it. I would imagine that as Mia has learned much about the way Sid processes things, Sid has, in turn, has picked up on a few of Mia's trains of thought.
Hope you are feeling better - and keep up the great work.
I'm not sure I will write a chapter from Sidney's perspective. I was never a fan of this switch in POV. I feel it spoils the story and the reader's expectations. But who knows, I may find a way to do it later on ;)
