DIY Cucumber Cooling Mask

If you have sensitive skin (as I do) that gets irritated easily, this is a great mask to use to give your skin a break. This mask has to be one of my at-home spa day must-haves because, aside from being great for the skin, it’s also incredibly soothing and relaxing, especially when you top it off with a couple cucumber slices over your eyes and some mellow ambient music.

Cucumber and mint help to soothe blotchiness and redness in the skin, while the aloe vera gel hydrates skin.

Due to the aloe vera in this mask, it’s also a great concoction to whip up if you have a really bad sunburn just to soothe the pain.

Materials

  1. A handful of chopped mint
  2. One-half of a cucumber
  3. Two tablespoons of aloe vera gel (which you can find at a dollar store for a good price)

Step One

Start by peeling and chopping the cucumber.

Step Two

In a bowl, mash the cucumber, mint, and aloe vera gel with a fork until you have a gel-like consistency.

Step Three

Smooth the gel all over your face (or if you’re using this for a sunburn, all over the affected areas). Leave the mask to set for approximately twenty minutes.

Step Four

Rinse with cool water to close pores.
