DIY Shave Gel
Even if you’re a brand loyalist, this is a great shave gel to keep on hand for those moments when you run out of your favorite shave gel. It’s extremely easy to make with things that you probably already have lining your shower, and you can customize it to your liking.
For this gel, you’ll need one cup of conditioner, one cup of shampoo, five tablespoons of baby oil, five tablespoons of lotion, and a container to put it all in (I just use an old shampoo bottle). Don’t worry about which shampoos, conditioners, or lotions you use. I’ve made this mixture numerous times using a wild variety of brands, so you pretty much cannot screw it up. I like to use little bottles of lotion from Bath and Body Works that I get for the holidays from friends to add a nice touch of scent.
- To start off, pour the conditioner into your container first, then follow with the shampoo.
- Next, add the baby oil. Follow the addition of the baby oil by adding in the lotion you’ve chosen.
- Make sure to tightly seal off the container and shake vigorously until all of the contents have mixed well. Let the gel set for about an hour.
Occasionally, you’ll need to shake the bottle again because the mixture has a tendency to separate over time, but all in all, this is a great substitute for store-bought shave gel.
