My brother is a natural redhead... as if one of my cousins. It runs in my family.

My grandpa was a natural redhead, and I have a lot of tint in mine.
I hope it doesn't die out.

I'm a natural redhead (and I love it xD) I heard this myth a while back. The gene may die out, it may not. Hard to say.

My mother, two aunts, one uncle, three cousins and my friend and her mother are all natural redheads.
I can't see the gene dying out.

Gingerism?
Is that an actual term or did you just make it up? :/

Isn't the same extinction thing happening to natural blondes, too?
Egads.
Good thing someone invented hair dye :/

I love being a ginger! It would be a sad day indeed, if we were to go extinct. XD

the reason they're saying that is because it's a recessive gene, so you got to find someone with the same gene, but that still doesn't mean it'll die out.

i would totally wear the save the gingers shirt! i love my redhair! but the pain thing makes sense. or maybe it's just because my skins been burned off every summer for the past 10 years has killed my nerves :D but really, i dont' see the gene going anywhere. 40% of scotland has the gene? well then there's a good chance of there always being a redhead :D

Now I wanna make a T-shirt saying
"SAVE THE GINGERS".
lol.
That's a really interesting fact though. And kind of bizarre.
You usually think of animals going extinct, not redheads. :o

One other thing - did anybody know that red heads usually have a lower pain threshold than normal? And that red heads are less reactive to pain medication?

... Wow.

That explains so much!

Wow, people don't know that gingerism exists! People, in France I get called names on the street by small children (I get my aunt to translate - what she usually says is "I'm so glad I don't have red hair").

Also, witches = women with red hair. Vampires = women with red hair. Probably some scheme to demonise the Scots or something.

Just because you've never experienced it doesn't mean it's not real O.o
