Opening of the 2009 Season Over the past few days, Major League Baseball teams had their opening ceremonies and games, which has made for eventful news in the baseball world. Many teams are off to a strong start after their opening games:

The Braves beat the Philies 4-1.
The Giants beat the Dodgers 3-1.
The Mets beat the Reds 2-1.
The Rangers triumphed over the Indians, 9-1.
The Diamondbacks beat the Rockies 9-8.
The Oriels beat the Yankees 10-5.
The Marlins beat the Nationals 12-6.
The Pirates beat the Cardinals 6-4.
The Blue Jays beat the Tigers 12-5.
The Mariners beat the Twins 6-1.
The Cubs beat the Astros 4-2.
The Angels beat the Athletics 3-0.

Aside from the actual games, there was other occurrences in the baseball community. The MLB’s online broadcasting service experienced technical difficulties and caused many fans problems who were trying to enjoy the games. The service does cost money, and the failure left many paying fans upset. Representatives stated that measures have been taken to remedy the problem.

Beer sales were banned at the Tigers-Blue Jays game because the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario suspended the liquor license at the stadium. Five broken rules were cited and the liquor license was suspended for three days. The ban on alcohol included concession stands, restaurants, and the beer refrigerators in locker rooms.
