Jackson just looked at his mama when she told him to take Allison out to lunch. He wasn't upset, or anything of that sort, because he was thinking that idea when Allison made the comment that she was famished. He looked at his mama once more before drawing his attention back to Allison. "I think that is a perfect idea!" He said with that attractive grin of his. "Miss Ali, why don't we go out to lunch? I'll take you to one of the best places in this little town, and you don't have to worry about your peaches or tea, because my mama will hold onto them until we get back." He said with a smile as he gently took the bag from her and handed it over to his mama. "Watch this for her, please." He spoke to his mama, before looking at Allison once more. He just watched her for a moment, still not believing how lucky he was for getting this opportunity to spend some time with this girl. He then held out his arm so she could lock hers with his then proceeded to walk out the door with her. "If you don't mind ma'am, I'll drive, that way you can just sit in the passenger's seat, and not have to worry about a single thing." He said with a smile. He brought her to his truck and unlocked the doors, before opening up the passenger's door, helping her in. Once she was in, he closed the door and made his way over to the driver's side where he quickly hopped in. When he got inside the truck, he started the truck and looked at Allison once more. "Don't forget to buckle up." He spoke then carefully pulled out of the parking lot. He just had to drive about 5 minutes or so, away from the store, when he pulled into a different parking lot. "We're here!" He said, looking at her, then looked at the nice diner. "It's no five star restaurant, but it has the best home cooking you'll ever eat in all of Oklahoma." He then hopped out of the truck once more, walked over to her side, helped her out of the truck, then locked it up. Once that was done, he started walking with her inside, then found a nice little booth that sat by the window. He sat down, once Allison was sitting down of course, and handed her a menu. "Here you go peaches." He said with his husky tone and gave her a wink, then glanced down at the menu.

Hailey just stayed quiet, looking at Keith as he helped her with her ankle. She felt bad that she wasn't talking, she just felt that it was difficult to talk. She didn't want to upset him and if she said the wrong thing, she knew that would be exactly what would happen. However, she thought maybe she should say something, it's been at least 4 years since they last saw each other, and he was practically asking for her talk just now. She let out a soft sigh as she sat there on the porch, watching him start to wrap her foot. She looked at the pain killers that he handed to her. She set them on the table next to the chair. "Keith, I'm sorry that I don't mean to talk. I just don't know what to really say. I don't want to say something to upset you, and it's been so long since I've seen you, so it makes the conversation very hard to decide what to talk about." She explained as she watched him. when he asked why she ran away from him, she had to stop and think about that for a moment. Why was she running away from him? She shouldn't be scared to talk to him, he did nothing to her, if anyone should be upset, it should be him. "and I ran away from you because..." She trailed off, still thinking of what she could say. "Keith, I don't know why I started running away." She said as she watched him To this day, he was still handsome as ever. Those gorgeous killer eyes, the handsome face, and now he was a bit more muscular than last time she saw him, which made her miss everything about him even more. As she practically stared at him, she could feel small tears running down her face. She really had no real reason to leave him, and it was such a stupid idea to leave him in the first place. He was her everything, and just because she wanted to leave this small town for nursing school, with the idea of never coming back, she now lost him. She quickly wiped away her tears, hoping he wouldn't notice her crying a little. That was one thing that never changed about her in the last fours years, she could still get a little emotional over things. "Keith...." His name was the only word that could come out of her mouth without more tears rolling down her face. She tried her best to turn her head, hiding the tears, but she knew, out of anybody in the world, Keith knew he like a book.

Alison smiled as he took her to his truck. She looked at it wondering how to get up there in her heels and her skirt but then he helped her in and she smiled. Alison ran a hand through her hair watching him walk around the truck. She blushed as he told her to put on her seatbelt and she did. She giggled when they got to the restaurant. "We couldn't have walked." she said though glad they hadn't. She hated these heels. Alison bit her lip as he talked in that sexy husky voice as he handed her the menu. Alison bit her lip and smiled gently. "Thanks." she said and then looked down at her menu not knowing half of these things. Alison put her menu down. "What do you suggest?" Alison asked and rubbed her arm setting her hands in her lap as she looked at him. He was so handsome but she knew soon she would have to leave. She could stay longer if she had her car shipped. She should look into that while she was here.

Keith noticed the tears. He always knew her. Sometimes it seemed he knew her better then himself. Keith sighed set the ice on the ankle and sat next to her. Keith took her hand and put his arm around her shoulders. He moved her face toward him and wiped her cheeks. "Don't cry you know I'm a baby and you'll make me cry to." he said and kissed her head. Keith rubbed her arm. "I'm still an old friend and if we can't deal with what happened right now then we'll just take it as old friends meeting up again." he said knowing it wouldn't last long but it would last long enough for them to get comfortable enough with each other. Keith smiled softly. "So how about this. "No more running, no more quietness and we act like adults okay? Cause a lot has happened between then and now."

Jackson looked at her as she looked down at the menu. He had just started looking down at the menu when he heard her ask him for some suggestions. "Well..." He said, scanning the menu for a second then looked at Allison. "If you like chicken potpie, Miss Betty, the owner of this little diner, makes a mean killer chicken potpie." He said, looking at her with a charming smile. "However, if you don't like that, then you can get anything you really want." He said softly. "A matter of fact, everything on this menu is excellent. Miss Betty sure knows how to cook, and there's no one like her that outdo her cooking. Well no one, except for my mama." He said, whispering that last part. He smiled at her once more and gave her another wink, then glanced up at one of the waitress, motioning for her to come over to their table. When the waitress came over, he told her that they were just going to do the drink order right now, then to come back for their food order after she brought them their drinks. He had ordered a sweet tea, then looked at Allison, letting her order her own drink. He would have ordered her drink, if he had known what she drinks. He just sat there quietly, watching Allison and just smiled.

When Keith pulled her a little closer to him, she practically buried her face into his chest. When he kissed her head, she just sat there, letting things take their course - memories of them. "I don't mean to cry." She mumbled, wiping away her tears as she looked up at him. She watched him as he rubbed her arm, and she just closed her eyes. It was moments like this, that she missed. "We're friends...not old friends meeting up again." She said as she put a hand on his cheek. She listened to him and nodded at what he said. "No more." She spoke softly as she moved closer to him. "Oh Keith." She spoke softly. "I've missed you." She barely spoke as more tears ran down her cheeks. She wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing her closer to him. She then kissed him without thinking, bringing back all feelings and emotions that she held inside for him. Even though, she had moved away and tried to move on with her life, she still deeply cared and loved.

Alison smiled. "I'll have what ever he's having." she whispered. Truth was Alison didn't know what she wanted and this was just easier. "So Jackson will you tell me about yourself?" she asked and crossed her legs under the table her foot grazing his lightly though she didn't really notice. Alison smiled as she sat up right her eyes focused on Jackson.

Keith felt her get closer and closer. He didn't argue with her when she called them friends. Truth was when you didn't talk to someone for years and then suddenly did you where old friends. Keith felt his heart melting as she cried and told him how much she missed him. Keith just held her his hand on her cheek his thumb rubbing her tears away. Keith had been fine until her arms went around him his eyes widening. He looked into her eyes and was shocked when she kissed him and that was when the pain hit him like a train going as fast as a race car. Keith pulled back softly then cupped her face his eyes tearing up as he looked into her eyes. "Let's get you to doc." he said and then picked her up. He handed her the ice and headed toward his truck. Keith set her in and closed the door. He leaned against the back of the truck and ran a hand through his hair. He couldn't di this. He wasn't ready to jump back in.

Jackson smiled at Allison then looked at the waitress. "I'll have today's special." He said proudly. "And I guess she'll be having the same thing." He told the waitress, knowing that she wouldn't be disappointed in his choice of food. When the waitress walked away with their food order, he brought his full attention back to Allison, hearing her wanting him to tell her something about himself. "Well...I'm a simple country boy who's lived in this town his whole life. When I'm not busy helping my mama and older brother Keith with the inn or the general store, I'm at home on the ranch, making sure everything is going smoothly over there." He said with a charming smile. "And before you say that sounds perfect, it is and isn't. I can be a little slacker at doing my job, but that's only because I like to take my time with things." He explained to her, even though he didn't really have to go there with explaining things. He stopped at that moment and just smiled. "But enough about me. Tell me peaches about yourself. Anything and everything your little heart wants to tell me." He said, having decided that peaches was her new nickname, aside from Ali, like she requested.

After they parted, Hailey just went back to staying quiet once again. She kept her mouth quiet as he placed her in his truck, with the idea of taking her to the doctor. The minute he closed the door, it really hit her on what happened just in the last few minutes. "Oh my gosh Hailey...what did you do?" She thought aloud to herself as she wiped her fresh tears away from her face once again. She looked at the mirror seeing Keith leaning against the back of the truck, and right there, she knew that she messed up. "Don't do this to him. He doesn't deserve this." She told herself. She then opened the truck door and carefully hopped out. "You know Keith, I think I'll be okay. Thanks though." She said as she tired her best to walk on that ankle, but that didn't happen at all. She winced in pain as she tried once again. She couldn't do this, but she didn't want to cause any more awkwardness on her high school sweetheart.

Alison blushed as he called her peaches. She looked at the table. "Uhh." she didn't talk about herself much. Alison bit her lip and then stopped looking up. "Well I was born in Dallas but I went to California for college. I was headed up toward Maine for a job interview in a week. I was going to drive but my car can't seem to make it much longer. So come tomorrow I'll go up to the nearest city and get my car shipped. I think I'll fly even though you say I should drive. I'm just not cut out for it. I mean what if my tire pops, and worse what if there is no one around when that happens? I've seen it happen on shows. It's never good." she blushed and honestly couldn't believe she had rambled that much. "Uhh question. Why do you call me peaches?" she said hoping to get him to talk more then her.

Keith watched her get out and ran a hand through his hair and shoved the emotions down as he made a straight face. Keith sighed as she tried to walk and he went over pulling her into his arms and pulled her up into his arms. Keith placed her back in the truck and locked the door. "No you're not okay and you're going to sit there and let me drive you where you need to go. Keith shut the door and went around getting in. "Don't argue with me. I'll win this time." he said and then started his car and then pulled out headed down the road toward town. Keith sighed as he reached over turning the radio on so she didn't have to talk figuring she didn't want to talk to him.

Jackson just smiled, listening as she told him a little bit about herself. When she went on talking how it never turns out good when a car tire pops while on travel, he couldn't help but chuckle a little. "And we wouldn't want anything to happen to you, a pretty little girl." He said with a grin. When she asked why he called her peaches, he just smiled a little more. "Well I call you peaches since we began really talking once again, when you dropped your peaches in the store." He laughed lightly and smiled, seeing her blush. "Does that bother you that I call you peaches?" He asked nicely.

Hailey just stayed quiet, especially when he turned the radio on. At that moment, she figured that he didn't want her to talk at all. She looked out his truck window, just looking at the little town. Oh how there were so many memories in this town. She glanced over at Keith for a moment, but didn't say anything at all. She then looked away from him and just sat back in the passenger's seat. She took in a deep breath then slowly let it out. "Keith, I'm sorry that I've missed up things. I had no intentions what-so-ever to do that, but like always, I have a tendency of messing up." She said as tears went down her cheeks. She said nothing more after that, just stared out the window, occasionally wiping her tears away.

"Oh." she said when he explained and she shook her head. "It doesn't bother me at all Jackson." Alison said smiled. "So if your mom runs the store and cooks and she runs this inn, when does she had time to cook these meals you're talking about?" Alison bit her lip realizing what she had said and blushed. "I'm sorry." she said and looked down at the table. Alison wasn't ever encouraged to talk at home and at school they had topics to focus on.

Keith stayed quiet for a long while. "You had to see what was out there Hailey." he said softly then pulled up to doc's and turned to her once he parked. "Please stop crying." he said. "It's hard with you back but it'll get easier. Hailey we just need to take this slow okay?" Keith really had missed her but he hated what was going on inside the both of them and he just needed some time to adjust to the idea that she was back. He had thought that she was never coming back.

Jackson just smirked and shook his head. "No you're fine, people ask me that from time to time." He said. "My older brother, Keith, and I help her out.' He said proudly. "Some times my brother does more then me, but I do my best to help her.' He said with a charming smile. Jackson watched her as she continued to blush. He just chuckled a little. "Ali, let I said before you're fine, you don't need to feel like you said something wrong or rude, because you did. You are just curious, and if I was you, I would have asked the same question." He gave her a reassuring smile as he sat there with her.

Hailey looked at Keith as he spoke. When they got to the doc's office, she looked out the window for a quick second. She had managed to stop crying and was calm now as she looked back at him. As he told her that it was hard with her back, she just nodded, clearly seeing his point. she knew it was right though, things would get easier and they definitely needed to take it slow. She just nodded once again as she sat there in the truck with him. "Keith." She said softly. "I'm really sorry that I kissed you....I don't know what was going through my mind." She said softly. She watched him, wanting to hug him, comfort him, but knew that wouldn't be a good thing at his moment. She took a moment to clam down then started opening the door, but needed help out of the truck

Alison smiled and relaxed. "Thanks." she said and then bit her lip before letting it go. "So you work for your family but it sounds like that's not what you want to do for the rest of your life. What do you want to do then?" Alison smiled as she looked at him. He was so handsome. Alison felt that it was to bad she would have to move on.

Keith didn't know what to say so when she opened the door he went around and picked her up. "I know." he said and squeezed her a little. "Maybe we can have coffee one day and talk about all this more." Keith said and looked down at her opening the door with the handicap button. Keith smiled gently before setting her in a chair going to sign her in. Keith still remembered everything about her. He took the papers for her to fill out back to her though and made sure her foot was elevated. Keith bit his lip looking at her. Gosh he missed her.

Jackson looked at her and smiled. "Well I really want to live on my own ranch. Have a nice piece of land, big house, farm animals, a garden, etc." He said with a smile as he sat there with her. He looked at her and just smiled even more. As he looked at her, he couldn't help but wonder what kind of person she would be like be in a relationship. He wouldn't say anything yet though. "What about you? What do you do for a job? And why are you moving so far? If you don't mind me asking." He then asked.

Katie nodded as she took the medical papers to fill them out. "You know Keith, i could have took care of this myself. I am a nurse." She said as she started filling out the paperwork. She looked at Keith for a minute and nodded when he said something about coffee. "That sounds like a good idea." When she finished filling out papers, she handed them to Keith again so he could turn the work in for her. She watched him as he walked away and smiled. Things are to work out, she just knew it.

Alison smiled. "A place of your own." she repeated thinking. "Me we'll I just graduated with a degree in business and another in marketing. So I was headed up to Maine for my first interview with a big company my friend runs and it's just a start a place to get my name heard. People are more likely to buy from a name they know. So it's just chance really that it's so far away." Alison really didn't want to do that but it made her parents happy and it paid well. Alison was more of a wild spirit but no one really knew that because no one took the time to break her open.

Keith smiled softly at Hailey. "Yeah well do you happen to have an x-ray machine in your apartment? It could be the adrenaline, you should know that." he said and then rubbed the back of his neck turning in the paper then sitting beside her to wait for the doctor with her. "I'll take you home after this. My numbers the same if you haven't forgotten and you can call anytime you're thinking about that coffee."

Jackson nodded, listening as she spoke. If he was crazy enough, he'd almost ask her to stay, but they just met. "Well I'm sure success goes great with you. You're such a sweet girl, and anyone would be crazy NOT to work with you." He said with a charming smile. She was truly incredible and he just met her. He continued to smile as he saw their food coming towards the table. When the waitress came over, he looked over at Alison. "Ready to have some of the best southern cookin'?" He asked before taking a sip of his sweet tea, then started eating.

Hailey smiled a little. "How could i ever not forget that number? I dialed that number so many times." She laughed a little as she thought back to their VERY late night conversations. "We had some much of those late nights didn't we?" She spoke, looking at him. She went to move a little in her chair, when her foot slipped and it fell down, hitting the floor. She sucked in a great amount of air, keeping herself from cursing or even crying. She then tried her best to put her foot back up to elevate. She blinked away a couple of tears.

Alison smiled. She nodded and then took a sip of the sweet tea and made a small pleased sound. Alison then started with a small bite of the food and made a small amazed sound. Alison couldn't believe that everybody didn't cook like this. "Wow." she said and looked up at Jackson.

Keith nodded and smiled softly then flinched seeing her foot fall. He lifted it back up and bit his lip. "Careful." he said softly and rubbed her leg to try and help sooth out the pain. The adrenaline's wearing off now isn't it." he said seeing the pain getting worse for her. Keith looked up when the doctor called her name and he picked her up.

Jackson just grinned when she took a bite and said wow. "I told you that was good." He said with a pearlie white grin. He took some bites and smiled, taking in the great taste of homecooking. "It's crazy how good this is." He said with a smile. He took a sip of his tea and continued to eat.

( Sorry that I've been so slow on replying, I was at my grandma's and she doesn't have internet so I was having to reply on my phone.)
"I try to be." Hailey said with a smile as she felt his hand rubbing her leg. She then nodded when she hard him ask about adrenaline wearing off. "Oh yeah." she said softly as she laid back against the chair. When the doctor called her name, she looked at Keith for a moment then the doctor. She held onto Keith when he picked her up and carried into the doctor's exam room. She held his hand as he set her down on the table. "Don't leave." She said softly. "Please."

Alison ate smiling. "It is really good." she said. They finished their food. "Thank you... For lunch." she said. "And uhh inviting me to stay." Alison said and blushed. Alison was happy to have this change of place.

Keith looked at her as she asked him to stay and he nodded. "Alright." he said and smiled at the doc. "Can you tell us what's going on with her foot?" he asked and let her hold his hand. Keith wanted to be sure she was okay, it was all he ever wanted.

Jackson smiled and nodded. "Anything for a pretty girl like you." He said with a charming smile. This was truly first time that he ever felt happy to find a girl that he was interested in. Sure, he had his southern charm, and had a couple of girls in his time, however, he never felt like this towards anyone, like he did with Alison. "We're done with our adventure for the day though." He said as he looked at her and smiled.

Hailey sat there, watching as the doctor looked over her foot. "Well Miss Brooks, you seem to have twisted your ankle." He said, looking at her. "I'll wrap it, and I want you to stay off of it for a couple of days. Keith, please make sure that she is elevating her foot and icing it.' The doctor said and then wrote off a prescription for her to get for the pain. Once he wrapped it, he went and got her a pair of crutches. When they were done, Hailey looked at Keith and smiled. The doctor had left the two of them in the room.

"Awe you said you would show me around town and I'm holding you too it cowboy." she said and got up taking his hand. "Well come on." she said feeling a spark as her hand clasped his. Alison was in shock that there was ever something so chemical between her and a man.

Keith smiled. "Mmm sounds like I got orders to stick around and check up on ya." he said and helped her up. "Come on let's get you home and ice that ankle." Keith said and grinned at her opening the door for her. "you out to see if you can get a job at your next check up." he said. "I never knew you wanted to be a nurse."

Jackson finished eating up and then nodded to her. "Yes ma'am." He said with a smile. He couldn't help but grin even more when she got up and took his hand. He felt like a little kid again, in love for the very first time in his life. "Already peaches." He said as he got up, left money on the table for the bill, then walked outside with her to his truck. He helped her in, then started driving. "Where to take you first..." He said aloud as he drove out of the parking lot and back to the inn. They were going to walk the town now. When they got to the inn, he got out then helped her out. "Lets walk." He said, linking their arms together.

Hailey laughed a little. "Yeah...it sounds like you do." She said as she slowly made her way out the door. "It'll be nice to get home and just relax...been a rather exciting day...if you ask me." She said with a small laugh. "Thanks Keith, but I already have a job lined up at the hospital that's an hour away from here." She said softly. "You never knew I wanted to be a nurse...well what did I want to be?" She asked, always thinking she wanted to be a nurse. However, she completely forgot her plan of being a school teacher then becoming a stay at home mom once she got pregnant with their second child. Things truly changed with her.

Alison smiled and looked at her heels and the dirt road and nodded. "Alright." she said biting her lip. She wasn't really wearing the right shoes for it but she was willing to go with him. Thought it seemed they lived on the edge of town so she didn't know why they started here. She was really confused. Still she mostly wanted to know more about this man.

Keith walked out with her and opened the door. "An hour one way." he mumbled feeling like shaking his head. When she said she didn't remember what she wanted to be he ran a hand through his hair and looked at her helping her into the truck. "I don't know. I never asked." he lied. He knew she was gonna be a cowboys wife back then with an all American dream but he guessed the city changed more then he thought.
