One Defense

"Just remember something, that was unintentional." She muttered shaking her head. "Ehh Poor thing." She shrugged not really caring. She sipped on her milkshake. She shrugged again and popped her back gently. She brushed all her hair back away from her face so it wouldn't get in her milkshake. She was officially gonna cut it. She heard him and murmured, "Doesn't hurt anymore."

Jake chuckled and muttered, "Poor thing didn't know what hit her." He muttered. He dipped his own fry in his milkshake and ate it. He loved fries with milkshakes. He smiled softly. He then looked at Sammie and said, "You ok?" He gave her a gentle smile.

Sammie tipped her head and looked at Jake curiously for a moment before nodding and smiling. She took another fry and offered it to Anya with a smile before she ran her fingers through her hair and pulled it into a ponytail. Smiling, she took a sip of her milkshake.

Aaron looked at her and smiled softly. "It was intentional in my head." he said jokingly. "Well, I'm glad that your headache is gone." he said before taking a sip of his drink. He realized that he literally knew nothing about them and thus had nothing to talk about.

Anya yawned softly. She had slept long enough. She looked around gently. She took another sip of milkshake. She looked back at Sammie and smiled softly shaking her head. 'Nah, I don't want one thanks though." She then chuckled softly. She nodded to Aaron.

Jake saw her curious look and said, "what?" He saw her nod and smile and smiled back gently. He glanced at Aaron and then leaned back in his seat and then looked back outside and muttered, "Who's car is going off?" he could hear it and it was irritating him.

Sammie looked at everyone and smiled softly before shrugging toward Jake. Biting her lip gently, she continued to dip her fries in her milkshake. Smiling softly, she watched them. Glancing at Jake, she bit her lip gently before looking away and glancing over at Anya.

Aaron watched her and smiled happily. Taking another sip of his milkshake, he sighed before glancing over at Jake for help. "So what did you guys do while you were out of school?" he asked curiously as he looked at them both before taking another sip.

Anya heard her phone beeping and saw it was their dad telling them he'd be late as usual. She then muttered, "Don't bother coming home anyways." He was never there anyways. She looked up hearing Aaron and murmured, "Slept. Showered, came here." She replied. "Sammie did work, which was unnecessary." She muttered.

Jake smiled at her. He then looked up hearing Anya and muttered, "Very progressive day." He then heard her saw Sammie did work and glanced over at her. He had heard her muttering something about don't come back. He wondered what that was about but kept that to himself.

Sammie frowned as she looked at the same text. Stupid, she thought before looking up at the boys. Taking out a napkin, she wrote down on it. "What did you two do?" she showed it to both of the boys and waited patiently for their replies as she smiled gently.

Aaron looked at her and nodded. "Sounds like you two got a lot done." he said as he looked at them both before reading the note. "Um...school and then came here so nothing special." he said before he turned more exclusively to Anya. "So what do you think of the teachers you saw today?"

Anya noticed Sammie's frown and sighed and muttered, "He better not think I'm cooking." She told Sammie. "If I do I'll poison it." She then shrugged. She heard the boy's replies, and then glanced back seeing as Aaron was talking to her. "assholes." She replied shrugging. "like every other teacher in our school."

Jake chuckled and said, "School then here, Not really a lot done there. Shit we forgot about Detention, Aaron." He laughed. "We're screwed. " He turned to Sammie and then said, "So how did you think of the teachers?" He asked her knowing her answer already.

Sammie watched her sister and shrugged before glancing at Jake. Thinking for a moment, she held her hand in a flat position, palm down before shaking lightly. It meant okay. She sighed softly before taking another sip of her milkshake and watching him. She pointed to him with a questioning look as if to say you?

Aaron looked at her and nodded. "Yeah, they are. Although I'm not going to lie, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for Mr. Smith. You know freshmen year? He is the one that gave Sammie a dry erase board for answers and then made us all do it so he could have a totally silent class?" he laughed at the memory.

Jake chuckled and said, "Imma prank first period's teacher. I don't even know her name." He said. He then chuckled and said, "I dunt like teachers. The send me and Aaron to the office too much." His Scottish coming in when he tried to pronounce 'dont'. He looked at her and smiled softly. He finally just looked at her. He found her to be beautiful.

Anya heard Aaron and said, "Hmm, I don't think I ha a talk with that teacher. Silent class my ass all you two did in there was give him hell." She murmured remembering. She also remembered that was the year no one knew who she was because she was a sweetheart. Sammie had always been quiet but this time she was just silent. Anya was nice and now she wasn't. She couldn't afford to be. She shook her head Making the thoughts go away. She then brushed hair away from her eyes and looked at him.

Sammie listened to all of there conversations for a moment before taking a napkin. Are you part Scottish? she wrote before sliding it to Jake to read. She watched him curiously before biting her lip and taking another piece of paper. They aren't that bad, she wrote and showed it to Anya and Aaron. Except for 1st period, she added.

Aaron looked at her and laughed. "Well, he made it too easy." he said as he smiled "but you had to admit that it was fun." he said before glancing at Jake. "it won't be the first time we missed detention." he shrugged before looking back at Anya. He had to admit that she was breathtakingly beautiful.

Jake shrugged and said, "I know but they're gonna bitch at us is all I'm getting at. Ugh." He muttered softly. He saw the note and nodded saying, "Yeah. Come from Scotland." He grinned. It was amazing his hair wasn't red. It was a brownish reddish color but still not completely red. He stretched gently his back giving a stiff complaint as it popped and cracked.

Anya shrugged an muttered, "Juveniles." She muttered it under her breath. She saw Sammie's note and said, "Probably not but I don't like teachers anymore than they like me. And first period's teacher can go screw herself." She made a noise and looked out the window. She hated teachers. Completely and utterly. She pushed her bangs out of her face. She then slipped into her own world. She came out of it and looked back at the people.

Sammie watched all of them for a moment before wincing slightly when Jake cracked his back again. That can't be good for you, she wrote on a napkin and passed it to him. Sighing softly, she knew at some point, she should put effort into learning sign language and she already knew a bit of it. Looking at Anya, she smiled gently.

Aaron chuckled at her comment. "Maybe," he said honestly before reading the note. "Yes, definitely can go screw herself." He nodded before taking another gulp of his milkshake and looking over at Anya. "Well," he muttered not really knowing where to take the conversation now. "What is your favorite subject?" He blurted out as he looked at her.

Jake noticed her wince when he cracked his back. He chuckled seeing the note. He chuckled and said, "I've been popping my back since I was little." He chuckled and said, "How much sign language do you know?" He wondered outloud. He tilted his head at her gently. He offered a smile to her.

Anya shrugged. She hated the first period teacher already and she had only just met her today. She ran a hand through her hair. She smiled back at Sammie. She didn't care how Sammie communicated, just that she was okay. She heard Aaron , raising an eyebrow and muttered, "None of the above?" She said it like it was a question.

Sammie looked over at him before thinking for a moment. I know some. She wrote on a napkin and slide it to him. She waited to see him read it before writing, but no one else knows much so it is useless. She sighed and took another sip of her milkshake and popped a fry into her mouth.

Aaron looked over at her and nodded. "Fair enough," he said as he nodded to her. "Classes all seem to lull together," he said thoughtfully. "Oh well I guess." He shrugged before taking another big gulp out of his milkshake. "What kind did you get?" He asked pointing to her milkshake.

Jake read it and said, "I use to know it," He murmured. "When I was in Scottland, my mum was deaf." He said. He chuckled softly. He then said, "That's not all true, but most of it is. It wouldn't be useless if you met someone who was deaf or didn't talk." He said.

Anya hated school. All of it. She liked the library, that was about it. She looked up and nodded and murmured, "Most do." She agreed. She then wondered when the library would be open for school. She looked at Aaron and said, "Strawberry." She always got Strawberry.

Sammie looked at him before writing. "I have yet to meet someone who is dead or like me." She leaned back in her seat for a moment and tried to relax as she took another sip of her milkshake. Turning slightly to look at him, she smiled gently, hoping he could see that it didn't bother her or at leadt, she wanted him to think it didn't bother her.

Aaron looked at her. "Nice, a classic." He said before he sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "You know, I don't know if you have heard this before but it is really cool how you take care of Sammie." He said kind of awkwardly.

Jake nodded and said, "Just don't look for them and you'd be surprised." He said softly. He chuckled. He then saw her smile and looked at her eyes an knew it bothered her but didn't say anything. He guessed she wouldn't want him to know. He smiled softly and said, "ready for school tomorrow?" He asked her. He knew she'd have Anya so it wouldn't be that bad he guessed.

Anya nodded. She then yawned softly a bit. She heard him her eyes going to him sharply. "What do you mean?" She asked. She was going back to being mean. She didn't want to get too close. She narrowed her eyes looking at him. She kept her eyes locked on him her shoulders tense.

Sammie looked away from him for a moment and nodded. Biting her lip, she looked up at the change in Anya's tone. She frowned as she watched the two of them before turning to look at Jake. She took another sip of her milkshake and moved to make herself smaller as she began to put up her defenses.

Aaron looked at her and frowned. "I'm sorry, I didn't meant for that to be bad. I.....it's cool that you look out for each other that's all." He said as he watched her for a moment. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." He said honestly.

Jake saw her get closed in again and watched her for a moment. He then took a piece of paper out of his pocket and drew a tick tack toe board. He then murmured, "Wanna play?" He asked her gently. He tilted his head looking at her. He offered a smile.

Anya calmed down a little. She didn't take care of Sammie. She looked out for her but she didn't take care of her. Her mom used to do that, not her. That would always be her mom's job. She just nodded and finished her milkshake. She had gotten a small one. She then looked at Sammie and said, "Almost done?"

Sammie looked up at him for a moment before taking the pen back and making an x in the too right corner. She smiled softly. That was something she loved to do, little games like these that you didn't need to talk. They were on the same field. She looked up at him and smiled again as she held the pen out. She looked up and nodded at Anya's question.

Aaron looked at her and smiled gently. He ran his fingers through his hair and continued to look at her. "You that eager to get rid of me?" He asked with a teasing tone in his voice although he was pretty sure that he knew what her answer was going to be but he didn't really mind. "What to play hang man?" He asked as he got a pen and a napkin and looked at her.
