    Amelia
Amelia glanced over at the make, noticing the almost pained look on his face. "What?" She asked him as she opened up the box. It was freshly made ziti, still warm from the oven. "Is something wrong?" Amelia asked him, concerned about the face he was making. There seemed to be no cause for it and that worried her.
    Victoria
"Well do you always have to be Matt Maledire?" Victoria asked him. Before he had time to answer she continued on. "Surely not everything is always booked in your name. Haven't you put in a fake name for a to go order or a hotel room? And we'll couldn't you kind of do that for Disneyland? Just book everything under someone else's name. And maybe pay a make up artist to make you look different-or at least unnoticeable enough that you can have a day to yourself. I mean I suppose that would be a lot of effort but if you wanted to go somewhere without the hassle."

His face cleared as the food was revealed to be fresh, not day old, microwave heated leftovers. He shook his head to soothe her. He hadn’t meant to upset her. And what did he care what she ate? She wasn’t his to take care of and feed and protect. Only…she was. He just refused to admit it. But sooner or later, he knew he would. And that thought chilled him down to his bones.
    Matt
He shrugged. “I do, occasionally, but I hate pretending to be someone I’m not. I spend so much time being Mr. Rock God, I rarely get the chance to just kick back and be…me.” He sighed, running his hand through his curly mop of hair that women fawned over. He’d wanted to cut it several times, but every time he’d mentioned it, Andy and his publicist nearly died of horror. His hair was one of his most recognizable features. He couldn’t cut it! God forbid! He tilted his head, unobtrusively indicating the other patrons and paparazzi that her snapping photos. “Look. This is my life. I can’t go anywhere without them. It’s part of being famous. Bet you anything tomorrow the tabloids will be plastered with stories of Matt Maledire’s sordid love affair.” He grinned suddenly a wicked little plan starting to form in his mind.

    Amelia

A look of confusion came over her face when he shook his head. Though his expression began to calm down so she did the same. Amelia took a few bites of her food, watching the cats swarm around him. She let out a small laugh, her eyes smiling. "You know this kind of makes you look like a crazy cat man." She told him. It wasn't meant to be rude by any means. She just thought it was an amusing thing she noticed.
    Victoria

Her head turned to look at the fans and the paparazzi taking pictures of them. The fans would be fine but the paparazzi might be a problem for her. She didn't really want them creating a love affair between the two of them and she didn't want them intruding into her life. "So they see you have dinner with a girl once and then suddenly it's a love story of the century?" Victoria said slightly amused by the whole thing.

He shrugged. “Been called worse,” He said, unruffled. He tossed a piece of meat out over the heads of the cats and the ginger tom leapt up into the air, snatching the scrap between his paws. He’d been made fun of and worse over the years, not that he cared. He was a stray, like them. Why shouldn’t strays stick together?
    Matt
“Oh, but darling,” he said, suddenly turning on the charm, “Didn’t you know? It is! Finally I take my secret lover out to a public place, after all this time. Next thing you know top model and ex-girlfriend Larissa Fontaine hears word and storms over to my hotel in the middle of the night, tears streaming, convinced I was the one and how dare I move on?” His voice grew dramatic as he spun his tale, waving his arms around him for emphasis. “She’ll catch us in the middle of something steamy and a catfight will ensue, ending up with a call to the cops and at least one of us spending the night in jail!” His eyes gleamed as he leaned forward, finishing triumphantly, “Where my secret drug habit will come out as it turn out my dealer happens to be there, as well!”

"Oh it wasn't an insult so I hope that you didn't take it that way." Amelia told him. "I was just making a small observation." She hoped that the man didn't take her comment the wrong way. Honestly she didn't mean anything malicious by it. Though not wanting to stay on her mistake for too long she continued on. "Do you think there is a chance that I'll ever get your name? Will you ever tell me perhaps?"
    Victoria

She shook her head at his story with a laugh and a large smile on her face. Matt certainly did know how to spin a tale. "Well as long as I am not the one spending the night in prison. I would expect my rockstar boyfriend to at least protect me from that." She teased. Victoria then glanced over at the paparazzi. Well Victoria had picked up a tabloid from time to time and she hoped that they would keep her out of it! In the least she hoped that they wouldn't harass her. "You don't think they'll try and follow me around to get more dirt on you right?"

Another shrug of those big shoulders. Very little really upset him. He’d put up with so much crap over the years that he’d developed some very thick skin. When she mentioned names, he turned to give her a look. The meaning was clear. She was the one who’d forced herself on him. He still didn’t know her name, and she wanted him to give her his?
    Matt
“Oh, naturally. Wouldn’t want my honey bear to have to spend a cold, long, lonely night in a scary jail cell!” He teased back, laughing. He found himself liking her more and more. She joked around with him and went along with his stories. Match made in heaven, or what? Though he supposed he should say ‘match made in hell’, all things considered. He gave her a wry, slightly sad smile. “Victoria, once it gets out that you’re actually a part of the band, they won’t leave you alone. After all, this is the first time we’ve had a girl with us. You can just imagine the steamy stories they’ll come up with.” He spread his hands, envisioning it. “’New guitarist for Matt Maledire! Glory hound or girlfriend?’ ‘Trouble in paradise? New guitarist tells all!’ ‘Victorious Victoria, Brags about sleeping with drummer, singer boyfriend Matt has emotional breakdown!’ It never ends, Vicky. You learn to just ignore it and take your peace when you can. I mostly read tabloids for the laughs. They’re always wrong.”

"Well I thought that I would at least try." Amelia said as she pushed her hair back. "I mean I would like to call you something else besides Mystery Man but if you don't want to tell me yet that is okay too." So had been really hoping that he would give her his name. She wasn't quite sure what to do to get it. The first day she met him she had given him hers but he had not returned the act. But that was alright! One day she would get him to tell her and one day she will actually understand this man. She had difficult projects before.
    Victoria
Her nose wrinkled a bit at Matt's words. "Oh they can spin any story that they want. It won't bother me and I would hope that the people who know me best would know that the tabloids are just full of it." Amelia leaned back into her seat, crossing her arms a bit. "I just prefer not being followed around is all. Rather that they are not outside of my apartment when I am home." She hummed a bit as she glanced over at the people taking pictures. A sly smile coming over her face. "No worries though. I'll figure it out."

He honestly didn’t remember her giving him her name, having been caught up in the first rush of finding his soulmate. He wasn’t trying to be rude, he simply wasn’t all that skilled in personal interaction. He avoided people when he could, and typically ignored them when he couldn’t. But he couldn’t ignore this girl. After all, she was his soulmate. And didn’t that grate? He sighed, unable to resist his imp’s urging to say something. “Maddock.” He said at last. There, she had his name. Now would she stop asking?
    Matt
“There are privacy laws, don’t worry,” he said reassuringly. “But it doesn’t keep them from trying! I have no permanent address for a reason. I don’t want to be bothered when I’m not touring. All the tabloids know about my private life is I live somewhere in Portland. I’m very careful to keep my past and my family out of the limelight.” When he wasn’t on tour he crashed at his brother Mark’s place, having all of his mail forwarded to Andy. It was a bit of a hassle, but Andy was one of the few people who knew where he’d come from and agreed to help him protect what mattered. Which was why though they might drive each other crazy, Matt considered Andy to be one of his best and most trusted friends.
He perked as she smiled. She was planning something, he knew it. He leaned forward, smile matching hers. “Got a plan already?”

    Amelia
Immediately Amelia perked up when the male finally announced his name. "Maddock?" She purred, clearly happy with what just happened. "That is a terrific name." Amelia told him as she hummed a bit, completely satisfied-for now. Finally she had gotten an important piece of the puzzle! Now of course she was not going to leave him alone now that she got it. But now she was probably going to be less pushy for a few days. Learning about someone took time, Amelia knew that. Though she was not keen on just completely waiting for the other person to be ready. Sometimes she nudged (or shoved) them along.
    Victoria
Victoria hummed a bit before tilting her head to look over at him. There was a mischievous look in her eyes and the sly smile was still across her face. "Perhaps I do have a plan." She told him before biting her lower lip and leaning back. "But if I did have one I won't tell you until I know that it works. So shush." While the paparazzi were sure to get on her nerves perhaps it would be fun trying to outsmart and lose them. Maybe this could turn into an interesting little war.

Was knowing his name really such a big deal? Clearly it was, to make her so happy. Was he expected to ask her name? He supposed he’d best bite the bullet and get it over with, he’d need to know it sooner or later. With a sigh of surrender that slumped his shoulders, he asked reluctantly, “And you?”
    Matt
“Oh, come on!” He exclaimed, a crushed look on his face. His eyes burned with curiosity. “You can’t make that face, and say those words, and not tell me! It’s cruel! Evil! Conniving!” He leaned forwards, hands on the table, wicked-little-boy grin in place. “Guess I’ll just have to get it from you some other way then, huh?”

Tony folded the rest of the pasta into the pot, grinning, "You've been off the streets for too long, old man,"she teased, "If you think I'll get some poor druggie to pay three hundred for that bowl." Once she was done with the pasta she turned to him again, "What now?"
    Edna
Edna stared at the family with wide eyes, slowly moving back towards the door. This woman was crazy. Completely certifiable. Reaching her hand out behind her she wrapped her fingers around the door handle, pushing a bit, hoping she got out of there before the woman decided to turn on her... except the door wouldn't move. She pushed again, then turned to see the people outside were blocking it. She glared at them, wondering if they were purposefully keeping her in.
    Faye
Faye slapped at Mariah's shoulders as he carried her through the kitchen, "Stop, you're going to tack glass all over the apartment now. Just put me down." Once she was on the toilet seat she made to stand, but the pain from her feet forced her where she was... until she saw the first aid kit. Her eyes widened and she tucked her feet as far behind the toilet and out of his reach as she could without letting them touch anything, "No. No that's all very unnecessary. I'm sure I can get the glass out, no problem." she pressed a palm to his chest in an attempt to keep him back.

    Amelia
She glanced over at him, a little surprised by his question and the way that he was asking it. Amelia turned her head to the side, a bit confused about why he was asking like that. Though still she spoke up and told him. "My name is Amelia." Now that he knew her name too she happily went back to her food, still in a great mood. Maddock was actually a pretty great name and it was rather unique too. She had never heard that name before and she liked it.
    Victoria
"Oh I would like to see you try." Victoria told him. She doubted that he would actually be able to force it out of her. Right now she had her little plan and she was going to keep her mouth shut about it until she either tested it out or until everything for the plan was figured out. "There is no way you'll be able to get me to tell you. My lips are sealed." Reaching up her hand to her lips, she zipped her lips up, turned the fake key and shoved said fake key in her pocket.

“Old man?” He said, feigning indignance. “I’ll have you know I’m only thirty two!” His siblings called him an old grump all the time. Being three years older than his next oldest sibling and twelve years older than his youngest, he was used to the teasing. “And if you can’t get three hundred, then you can’t have it! I’m determined someday to get my money back on that piece of junk.” He looked at the pasta while the bacon cooled. He opened the utensil drawer and handed her the pasta ladle. “Stir it with this to make sure it doesn’t clump or stick to the pot. It’ll take a few minutes, but by then the bacon should be ready.”
    Maveric, Murel, and Max
Maverick sighed, giving his baby sister a half-hearted hug in return. “Look,” he said, “if you calm down and stop trying to kill Max, I’ll go with you tomorrow to take a look and see if I can do anything about your car. How about that?” When she nodded, he sighed, releasing her. “That’s my Wildcat. Good girl.” He ruffled her hair, not noticing the way she perked at the old nickname. Glancing over his shoulder, he noticed Edna trying to make her escape. He released Murel and went to help her.
“I’m sorry,” he said, unable to look at her. He hadn’t meant to scare her off, or let Murel. He actually liked her, she didn’t demand anything of him and was actually quite nice. “I promise they aren’t always like this. Everyone tends to lose their heads a bit whenever something happens concerning me. Don’t take it to heart? Murel’s a good kid once she gets under control.”
For her part, Murel was watching the interaction with wide eyes. Maverick hadn’t shown this kind of interest in anything in years! She turned to Max and whispered, “Are you seeing this too, or am I dreaming?”
Max shook his head, biting back a superior smirk. “You aren’t dreaming, little sis, he’s actually acting like he cares! Now you see why I told him to go after her? This progress is huge! Who knew all it would take is someone knocking him in the face with a book?”
“She what!?” Murel yelped, only to have Max slap his hand over her face.
“Shh!” He whispered furiously. “Don’t interrupt them!”
    Mariah
He ignored her protests, opening up the kit and grabbing the tweezers. He pulled the trashcan close and reached for a foot. He gave her a look to quell her protests. “Let me get it out. You don’t want it to get infected, do you? Plus, that’s a lot of blood. It needs to be cleaned, so don’t be a baby. Don’t tell me you’re afraid of getting your wounds treated? Now give me the foot or I’ll take it.” He growled, reaching around to grab her ankle. “I’m trying to be nice here, so don’t push it.”

    Maddock
Amelia. It was a pretty name. A very pretty name. Against his protests, he felt the name settling down deep inside, in a treasured place in his soul where it wouldn’t be forgotten. He looked down at the remains of his lunch in contemplation. Amelia. Her name was Amelia.
    Matt
He laughed at her determination. “Oh you think so, huh? I’ll have you know, I’m a master of secrets, both keeping them and discovering them! So you might as well spill now and save some dignity!”
He took a sip of his drink, eyes never leaving her face. He could never resist a secret. “Don’t make me tickle it out of you!”

Tony took the... large silver utensil - what the hell was this thing called? - and did as he said, "You paid three hundred?" She laughed, full on laughed, "Oh, you're worse than I thought. Hey, if I handed you a rock from out side, told you it was from a moon that orbited Saturn... would you pay me two thousand for it?"
    Edna
Edna stared up at Maverick, searching his gaze. While he wouldn't look at her she could see that he truly meant what he said and she gave him a little smile, "I don't understand why they're this worried about you... but it is good to see a family that cares." she reached out and gave his hand a gentle squeeze before releasing it again, "And as long as she doesn't try to kill me... I think I'll be alright." she tilted her head slightly, still watching him, "But what she said... about wanting me to leave? Do you want me to leave?"
    Faye
Faye pushed harder with her hand and pulled her feet further away, almost toppling off the toilet. She wouldn't have, too, if he hadn't been there to help her balance, "No, truly, it's fine. So it gets infected? My body will push it out, truly." Faye had extremely sensitive feet, to the point that she couldn't even walk barefoot outside without all the tiny little rocks bothering her, "I appreciate you trying to be nice... but you can put the kit away now."

“Oh, shut it!” He laughed, nudging her with his elbow. “I was young and foolish. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.” He got out the cutting board and began chopping the bacon into small, bite-sized pieces. “Don’t tell me you never make mistakes, Miss Perfect?”
    Maveric, Murel, and Max
Murel gasped at the sight of her holding his hand, excitement and rage mixed together. Before she could open her mouth and ruin things, however, Max elbowed her again, giving her a very firm glare. They couldn’t interfere. Not this time.
Maverick looked down at their joined hands. “She won’t try and kill you,” he said. After a moment he frowned and added, “At least I don’t think she will. How good are your reflexes?” At any other time it might have been a joke, but he knew his sister. She was too close to her imp and had very few morals when it came to people other than her brothers. If she thought it would protect him, she would have no qualms about killing her and making sure no one ever found the body.
He considered her question carefully. “I won’t keep you if you really want to leave, but I liked getting to meet you today. It was the first time I’ve enjoyed myself in a very long time. If possible, I would like to see you again?”
    Mariah
He gave her a look that said he clearly wasn’t buying it. “Cut it out, Pixie, and give me your foot!” He growled, batting her hand away and pulling her foot to him. He winced at all the glass shards stuck in it. This was going to be fun to clean. In an effort to stop her protests, he said to her, “I thought you wanted to prove you could do this job? You can’t bartend with fucked up feet. Don’t you want to make me eat my words?” With a gentleness that should not have existed in his powerful frame, he carefully began removing the glass and putting it in the trash can, trying to spare her as much pain as he possibly could.

Tony grew a little quiet at his question before finally stating, "I have... I'm thirty and still a pickpocket, so that right there is a pretty big one..." She turned and sent him a smile, "Then I pickpocket you", she teased, "Which I'm starting to think was my biggest mistake." she continued to stir with the large silver utensil, "This stuff done yet?"
    Edna
Edna gave Maverick a smile, "I'd say my reflexes are normal." She shrugged, her smile widening a bit, "I'm glad we met, though I'm still really sorry about my book... and then slapping you... but I haven't enjoyed conversation or company nearly as much as this before." She glanced back at his siblings, feeling the glare that Murel was probably giving her, "But I also don't want to cause any problems between you and your sister..." she returned her gaze to Mavericks, "But I would love to hang out with you again."
    Faye
Faye whimpered as Mariah took her foot, "Sure, I want you to eat your words, but - ow! - but this is ridiculous. They'd eventually heal... ow!" She whimpered again, her hands gripping the toilet edge tightly. Sure, her feet were numb now with all the pain, but she could still fell the tug, still feel the glass slicing just a tad more as he pulled it out. She glanced at his face, focusing on the concentration she could see there. She knew he wasn't trying to hurt her - knew he couldn't have if he truly wanted to - but these were her feet! They were sensitive. She bit her lip, trying to hold in her sounds of pain... small whimpers getting past her defenses.

She smiled at him softly, glad that things seemed to be working out. She stayed quiet for a bit, beginning to understand that it is as something he liked, a little bit of peace and quiet. Amelia finished her food and closed the empty box. She would throw it away once she found a trash bin. "Do you ever get tired of this view?"
    Victoria
"Oh trust me I'll be coming out of this with more dignity then I did going in." Victoria laughed. "Because I will surely be winning this one. You might want to just give up before you lose." The waitress came over and packed up any of the food left over before setting the check down in front of the two of them. Once she left Victoria continued on with their conversation. "And tickling? Now I'm a little surprised that's your tactic. Not that you'll find my ticklish spots anyways." She smirked a bit.

He could well imagine the kind of life she’d led up to this point. After all, he’d led a very similar life. But he could appreciate her attempt at humor. He chuckled in response. “A mistake, you say? I’m giving you free food! And not some drive through junk, either!” He leaned across her to check the pasta. “Just about done,” he said. Give it a minute or so more, then we’ll drain it.”
    Maveric, Murel, and Max
Maverick shook his head, trying and failing once more at a smile. “Don’t worry about Murel. All I have to do is threaten to call our big brother and she shuts up like a clam, like you saw.” Mark was the cure-all end-all in family arguments, and the only one Murel paid any heed to. He glanced at her face, trying to read her. Apparently liking what he saw, he nodded. “I’d like that.”
    Mariah
He winced at her whimpers, trying to block them out. If he was going to get them all out without hurting her any more than necessary, he needed his full concentration. Very carefully he removed all the glass he could, though undoubtedly there was still more under the glass. Finally he finished with the first foot and released it gently. “There, that wasn’t so bad, you big baby,” he said, voice gruff. “Now let me see the other one.”

They enjoyed the rest of their meals in blissful quiet, the only sounds that of dock life and the begging cats at their feet. This was nice. Just being with someone, no commitments, no requirements. Just enjoying each other’s company. And he was enjoying it, he was surprised to find. He liked having her here.
He looked up at her question. Glancing around, he frowned, trying to see it from her point of view. To him it was the docks, where he worked and spent nearly every day of his life. He shrugged. There was nothing special about it to him, but he supposed she might see it differently.

He laughed, waiting for the waitress to leave before answering. He fished out his wallet and slipped his card inside the folder holding the bill, not even glancing at it, making it clear that it was his treat.
“Hah!” He said at last. “Everyone has ticklish spots, whether they know it or not. It’s all about finding them!” He waggled his brows suggestively, pretending to give her a playful leer.

Tony continued to stir, "That is all true, but you won't let me take the pretty bowl, so yes, a mistake." She turned her head to grin up at him, "That being said... I'm sure there's a lot of stuff in this house that I can take, so I'm not going to dwell on the pretty bowl." She finished stirring, now idly pocking at the pasta, "I think they're done now."
    Edna
Edna smiled at him, "Alright, well I do have tomorrow off. Do you have any plans? I was just going to read at home - you're welcome to join me - or we could meet somewhere. I haven't been to the movies in a while and... and now I'm babbling." She gave a little laugh, "I'm sorry, I'll make this short, what would you like to do tomorrow? If you're free."
    Faye
Faye bit her lip and slowly set her other foot in his hand, "I'm sorry," she whispered, biting her lip even harder, "I didn't mean to break your dishes..." she truly felt horrible about it. She'd just been so shocked at what he'd meant... but that was no excuse. She flinched as he took about a rather long and angry shard, her eyes watering a bit at the pain, but she forced the tears back. He was right, she was being a baby about this... and it wouldn't help him to trust her with their mission.

He reached over and switched off the heat before kneeling down to get a colander out from one of the cabinets. “I’ll appreciate you not steal anything from me,” he said with a smile as he placed the colander in the sink. “Hold this, will you? I’d hate to call the cops on you, you seem like such a nice woman.” Pulling on the oven mitts to keep from burning himself on the hot pot, he lifted it with a grunt, carrying it over to the sink to pour it out.
    Maveric, Murel, and Max
He liked the way she babbled. It was sweet, and made her seem more real. She wasn’t something so perfect she’d remain forever out of his reach. She was just a person, like him. “I’m always free,” he said. “Though whether I can get anywhere depends on if someone’s willing to drive me.” He still owned his old pickup, though he’d sold the sporty little Maserati he’d received as a twenty fifth birthday gift. He’d hated that thing. It had been one of the first things to go. But he hadn’t driven in years, having been deemed unfit. “I live with my brother Mark, he’ll probably be willing to take me wherever. Or Murel, if I’m able to fix her old rust bucket.”

“Don’t worry about it,” he said, concentrating on a particularly wicked shard. “I can replace them. Stole most of them from the bar, to be honest.” The pile of glass shards in the trash can was much bigger than he liked. Finally he finished with the second foot, this one going much faster without her protests. Setting the tweezers down he carefully grasped her around the waist and lifted, setting her down on the counter. “I’m going to rinse the blood off your feet now,” he said, trying not to spook her. “Sorry, it’s going to sting quite a bit, but I have to flush it out.” He set the antiseptic by the sink and turned on the faucet, gently pulling her feet towards the lukewarm flow.
