Love Overcomes All Odds

Jake relished in the feeling of her against him though careful to not overstep his boundaries again. Lifting her up and onto the horse, he got on behind her. "Let me know if you get scared," he whispered into her ear softly as he took the reins and held her in his arms before having Misty trott.

"I'm already late," she sighed softly as she rested her hands on his chest giving him a sweetly seductive look. Roxy trailed her fingers along his chest moving back to his biceps letting her fingers dance along the soft skin.

Anita giggled as he lifted her up. She hung onto him and nodded as he told her to tell him if she was scared. She doubted she would be. Anita squelled softly as the horse started. She looked happy as she hung on and watched as they moved. This was amazing to her and she wondered why she had never done this or why she had never been allowed to.

Shawn groaned. "Damn." He said and kissed her. "Alright I guess the boss shouldn't make his employees any later than possible." He said and smirked. He pulled back and took her handleadong her to where their shoes had ended up. He pulled on his boots and watched her bend over. He smirked and waiteduntil she was done and picked her up over his shoulder taking her out to his truck.

Jake smiled as he watched her while they began to descend into the field behind the bed and breakfast. The sun was just beginning to set while they trotted through the tall grass. Misty kept her pace slow as she enjoyed herself as well. Leaning forward to whisper in her ear, Jake made good of his promise and asked, "may I kiss your cheek?" His arms tightened a bit around her as he slowed Misty a little more once they neared a stream and began to trott along it.

Roxy squealed in surprise gasping as he did so. "Shawn!" She laughed while he carried her outside. "Either you don't want me late, or you're just hurrying to have a quicky in your truck now that you've had me in your bed," she joked as her arms wrapped around his waist.

Anita smiled. "Yes." She said softly. Anita felt safe in his strong aems. He just needed to learn what kind of a woman she was. She was the kind that needed to go slow and have sweet touches. She didn't know how to explain her feelings for Jake but she knew she trusted him. She let him kiss her heek before she rested her head on his shoulder.

Shawn laughed. "A little of both depending on how much I can wait till friday." He teased and set her in the cab. He kissed her his hand slipping into her hair as he pulled her close to the edge of the seat so her legs wrapped around his waist. Shawn ran his hand down her side to her lower back. He was addicted to her lips, her legs, her sent, her touch, to her.

Jake smiled happily as she did so. "You truly are beautiful, " he whispered softly as he snuggled her close to him. Not wanting to ruin the moment, he let Misty trott along the calming river happily. The sky was wide open and filled with pinks, blues, yellow, and purples. Clouds looked like marshmallows as they drifted along the multitude of colors. The small stream provided a peaceful sound with the crystal clear water glistened and sparkled as it ran over all of the tiny pebbles and stones. A few wild horses ran in the distance.

Roxy moaned as he did so. She couldn't get enough of him. Her hands couldn't find one place to res; everything about him felt so good from running her delicate fingers through his thick dark hair to feeling how solid and built he was from head to toe yet still soft enough to cuddle with like a teddy bear. Kissing him deeply, she dragged his bottom lip through her teeth gently.

Anita smiled. "Thank you." She said softly and watched the beauty around her. She had never noticed how beautiful the world around her was. But in her family there was no time to stop and smell the roses. She shook her head not trying to think of them. "Did anyone look at my car today?" She asked softly as shelooked up at him. Suddenly she knew the thought of leaving wasn't just hard on him but on her as well.

Shawn groaned and grabbed her hips squeezing as he debated with himself. He ended up pulling back and kissed her forehead. "Let's go." He said a little breathlessly. Shawn buckled her in and closed he door going to his side and hopping in. He smiled and started up his truck. Friday seemed to far away now even though it was tomorrow night. He knew he needed to pace himself with her, she was like a fi e wi e that needed to be sipped not guzzled down.

Frowning, he looked off into the distance before looking down at her for a moment. "Yes, and they will have it all fixed up by Monday," he said softly as he began sterring Misty away from the stream and back into the field sinxe the sun came close to disappearing. He couldnt even bring himself to ask if she was excited to get back on the road to go home. It would crush him.

Roxy blushed softly as he did so. Enjoying the ride to work, her curls blew gently from the breeze his windows gave off. The setting sun made her eyes sparkle as he drove. She sighed softly and smiled as she looked out into the fields and rolling hills. She couldnt be happier right now, and she was going to hold onto the moment as long as she could.

Anita looked up at him and frowned too. "That quickly? Oh okay." She said sounding disappointed but at least they had the weekend. She snuggled into him more as they headed away from the stream. She hugged his waist thinking about having to go to med school so soon. She wasn't ready. She didn't even know herself. Anita thought maybe she would stay for a while. It was the last of her summer anyways. Anita felt so torn. She hoped to co e to an easy conclusion by the end of the week.

Shawn smiled over at her. She was stunning in the setting sun and he only wished they had more time where there were no complications. He knew everythong would change tonight when Elli realized. Shawn sighed as he pulled into the parking lot of the bar. He turned to Roxy and smiled anyways. "Alright lets get you into work." He said. "Don't worry about Elli I will take care of it." Shawn kissed her long and deep once more before hopping out of the truck.

Jake kissed the top of her head softly never wantung to let go. "Ya, as long as all of the parts they ordered come in..." he said still having hope that the parts would be delayed allowing him to keep his princess longer. As they made their way back to the bar, he made sure to stay in the back by the garden his mother had set up. It was large and held two fountains, flowers of all kinds and colors, and a small terrace. Sliding off of the horse, he tied her up to the fence before going back and helping Anita. His large hands geabbed her hips as he lifted her up and off of the beautiful beast.

Roxy kissed him back enjoying every second knowing what was to come when they walked inside. "Alright," she said softly as she looked into his beautiful eyes onxe more before heading inside with him. A few of the regulars were there as they walked in. Ahe bit her lower lip when she saw Elli.

Anita smiled as he let her down. "So what song where you thinking of?" She asked curious if she would even be able to sing it. She didn't think she was ready to sing tonight. She was to scared of what could happen. Anita took his hand lacing her finders with his as they walked. It was hard to thiink they had only met yesterday.

Shawn smiled as he walked in like nothing happened. He was confident. He could care less what others thought as long as they kept their traps shut. Shawn saw Elli looking upset as if she where going to talk to Roxy but he got in her path. "Now where were we?" He asked and went to her office. "Leave Roxy alone it was my fault she was late. As long as she does her work on the clock that is all that matters." He told her making her look at him with shocked eyes. Even though Elli was his brother's ex that didn't mean much to how he treated her. Shawn had told her that when he hired her.

"Well...I was thinkin we could sing June Carter's time's a Wastin," he said with a small blush creeping up on his cheeks. "It's something fun and catchy. We can make it a duet like Johnny Cash June did," Jake's southern accent slipped in heavily as did his nerves. "What do ya say?" Looking at her from the corner of his eye while they walked, he couldn't help but give her hand a gentle squeeze.

Roxy let out a breath as Shawn took a bullet for her. Quickly getting to work, she began setting up the stage strining white lights from the ceiling down to the floor. She was terrified of heights though she knew the extra effort might help Elli not hate her as much.

Elli crossed his arms and looked at him with daggers. "You could barely hug me last night, and now you've gone and slept with her? Shawn, you need tl recover first. Are you crazy? What now, are you going to fuck her in your office just to piss off your brother? I didn't think special treatment ran very far in this place," she hissed mentioning what he had told her when she started working here.

Anita listened and thought about it. "Why don't we write one?" She asked and bit her lip. She didn't really want to sing someone elses song. If she was gonna sing it was gonna be real and passionate. Anita smiled softly looking up at him fluttering her eyes. Anita leaned into him. She wanted to sing with him. And maybe even write with him.

Shawn growled. "You try not having any fucking contact for three years and seeing shit that I wont even repet. I dream of this shit! So one sleepless night with the most gentle woman I have encountered in years is the only fucking confort I have had! Don't fucking lecture me Elli!" Shawn ended yelling at her his face red and his body ridged. "And if we fucking want to have sex in my damn office on our damn break then it is our right to. Fuck Elli don't push me around like you are better then me, and don't you take this out on her! You're damn right special treatment isn't given out but Roxy isn't just anyone and she fucking has helped me more than you can understand." He stormed out of her office and toward where Roxy was. He crawled up the ladder seeing her spinning lights down. He moved over to her and grabbed her hands to put her arms around his neck. Shawn kissed her hard before pulling back with a curse. "Sorry." He said there before her looking both angry and broken.

Jake smiled and brought her hand up to his lips kissing the back of her hand softly. "I would love to. Any lyrics or a melody in mind because all I can think of is somethin sweet to make you wana stay, " his deep voice rang quietly as he gazed down at her humming just above a whisper. He prayed that this song and this experience would keep this angel God sent down to him for just a while longer even though he knew he didn't deserve her.

Roxy jumped when she felt Shawn behind her before he took her hands. "Hey, what's wrong?" She asked worriedly after kissing him back. Her big brown eyes gazed into his sad and angry ones. "You can tell me anything," Speaking softly, she ran her hand gently through his hair lingering at the nape of his neck. The christmas lights she had been hanging lit up the space around them in the rafters with a romantic glow giving them a whole world to themselves.

Anita smiled and laid her hands on his chest. "That's it. Don't you wanna stay." She said and took his hand again and started to walk with him again to the gazebo. Anita was so glad that they where doing this. She sat on the bench as she thought about what the chorus would be. She liked the tune he was humming. "What else do you think should be in the song?"

Shawn sighed and held her close. "Nothing you need to worry about." He said and sighed. He ran a hand through his hair. "It's my damn office anyways if we wanted to be in there then we could." He said andran a gentle hand through her hair. Shawn sighed and shook his head. "I should let you get back to work." He said regrettably,. "But I need to warn you. I might not make it till friday."

"Don't you want to hold each other tight?" Jake sang softly to her as he sat besides her wrapping his arms around her tightly. "We can make forever feel this way," he whispered softly in her ear as he held her close against his chest. "Do you want to stay a little while?" His deep voice sang quietly when his eyes met her gorgeius ones. They shone like diamonds in the night sky. She was his drug, but he knew to be careful. He would treat her like his princess and ket her come to him.

Roxy frowned a bit and cupped his cheeks gently in her soft small hands. "How about, we go and get some breakfast after work? Waffles and hot chocolate?" She asked trying to earn a smile from him. Her thumb ran across his cheek bone tenderly. Her eyes looked up into his as she stood on her tip toes and gave him a gentle kiss before pulling back a few moments later.

Anita smiled and closed her eyes listening to his voice. She waited until she heard the chorus before she joined in as well. She smiled as she looked up at him listening to their voices mix in beautiful harmony. She took his hand and laced their fingers. She increased the volume causing him to follow. Anita looked deep into his eyes. This was so romantic. This song even sounded beautiful in acapella.

Shawn smiled softly. "That sounds nice." He said and kissed her back then smirked. "Or we can also meet in my office." He winked and rubbed her back. Shawn kissed her head and pulled back. "Here let me help you get these set up." He said and started on one. Shawn winked at her happily. He was glad she was arou d. She had a strange impact on him but he liked it.

Jake smiled as he sang with her and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. His eyes held nothing but awe and admiration for the beauty in front of him. A smile so big came to his face that he thought he might break his facial muscles. No one had ever made him feel this way, not even Elli. As the song came to the end, he cupped her cheek in his large calloused hand and locked eyes with the perfect woman while his voice sang softly just above a whisper, "don't you want to stay?" His sweet pale pink lips were meer inches from hers. Heart racing, his thumb brushed the back of her hand in soothing circles while his other hand placed itself gently on her lower back.

Roxy laughed softly at his antics before she got back to work. After an hour and a few stolen glances later, they were finished. "It's so beautiful," she commented as she looked around at the dangling lights. Her big brown eyes sparkled as the bright light bounced off of them. "Thanks for the help," her sweet voice rang as she looked over at Shawn. "I really appreciate it," her voice was gentle and quiet as if she didn't want to disturb the magic that surrounded them. In this moment, it was just the two of them up in the rafters without anyone to judge them or make them think about what they were doing.

Anita blushed as he got so close. She looked down and smiled at their hands. They faded out and she giggled. "I think that is the song. Will you play the guitar for it?" She asked softly. Anita looked out at the sky as she turned into him relaxing into his chest. "Thank you for this." She said softly her nose near his neck her soft breath warming his skin.

Shawn smiled. "Of course." He whispered and kissed the corner of her mouth. "So shall we go down and do inventory before break?" He asked his hand slipping up and down her side. He really was facinated with her. He kissed hertaking her bottem lip gently between his teeth to hold her still. He ran his tongue over her lip before letting it go entering her mouth insead his hand slipping into her hair gently. He was slow and sweet in his moves.

"Thank you," he breathed as his arms tightened around her holding her small frame in his arms enjoying how perfectly she fit. "Only if you answer my question...will you stay with me tonight, give me a second chance, please?" Jake asked quietly as he leaned his head gently against hers taking in the sweet scent of her hair once more praying to God it wasn't the last time.

Roxy smiled as he did so before her hands moved to his strong chest. Leaning into him, her tongue danced with his for a few moments. Pulling back just enough to look up at him from beneath her bangs, she pressed her body closer to his. "Maybe I should make you wait, take me out to dinner first. You already did have me twice in your bed," her sweet voice rang seductively as her thumb ran over his bottom lip teasing him.

Anita bit her lip and looked at him as she pulled away slightly. She frowned. "It just wouldn't be proper Jake. Give it time." She said and kissed his cheek. "Come on I am getting chilly, let's go inside." She said and stood her hand extended out looking into his eyes waiting nervously for him to take it. Anita felt herself changing a little at a time but she didn't know into what and who she was yet.

Shawn groaned softly trying to remember that even up here was not privet. Anything above whispers could be heard pretty much all the way to the bar. Shawn ran his hand up her back. "If that is what you want." He said softly closing his eyes as her finger ran across his lip. His office was always a good place to see her and sneak a little nibble if she would let him seduce her.
