Okay my fellow humans! I need some help here. All right, so my first chapter is going to begin with Annie's cadaver speaking to her. She spazzes and runs out of class. She's hauling ass out of there and then notices the hallway is suddenly empty and she gets like, rushed by a gazillion ghosts. Hence falling down the stairs like a dweeb. So she wakes up at the hospital and her parents are worried. I'm thinking she's near the ER or ICU and there are a few people who were injured severely in a car wreck and they're going to die soon. So Annie gets overwhelmed with this inner cold and just icky death feeling and she pukes her guts out and her mom insists she needs to stay overnight.
But there's ghosts and creepiness and she just wants to go home. So here is where I get stuck. Should the chapter end right about there, and the commotion with Esther start in my next chapter? With Esther going before Hollace and Annie being written again after I'm struggling a little with this time frame. So we do the Esther chapter and everything goes berserk. Then comes the Hollace chapter, so is it going to rewind from Esther's and be how he came to be in the hospital and then lead back up to the chaos? And then for Annie I have her seize the opportunity to get out of there and she's freaked cause of the ghosts and she hides from her mom, meets Remy and beau, decides to wait to leave because the hospital is full of panicked stampeding people? And when she first slips out of her room and takes off she passes Hollace and he can tell she's spooked, maybe he was even in the hall at school when she acted all crazy and recognizes her?
Also I'm thinking the initial awakening of their powers from the storm draws a ton of spirits to her. After a bit it'll taper off a little and she won't be bombarded all the time but at first it's just ghost central for her. With her ability to see and hear them and kind of move between the world of the living and the dead (which she can't do yet but she'll figure it out) the ghosts are drawn to her like a beacon. Some just want her help and others are malevolent and they know she can see them and can banish them (when she learns how) they don't like her. And when those kind show up they try to take her out. So expect some Insidious-esque moments.
Also I was thinking, maybe when it comes to the dead Beau can't get a grasp on her thoughts..? Like when they meet at the hospital and she's wigged out and Remy asks if she's all right and Beau's all "oh she's so not" maybe he can tell she's panicked but not why? Cause ghosts live sort of on another plane of existence and don't adhere to the same rules we do. So maybe if she's looking at or otherwise in the presence of ghosts he can still get her emotions but it short circuits his ability to read her thoughts clearly so he doesn't know exactly what she's seeing or hearing and wjen there are no ghosts around her he can hear her thoughts/see memories the same as he can with everyone else?
