Love Conquers All

Katie smiled and nodded. "I'm ready for anything, Sir." She said as she watched him get into this car. She looked to him and couldn't help but smile. "I'll see you in the morning." She said before walking to her car. She sighed, looking at her phone, texting her husband and telling him she was coming home.

Jim watched Katie get into her car and waved "I'll see you tomorrow afternoon" he joked. Watching her leave and then he left, he didn't like leaving her alone. In Gotham nothing was save for too long.

The next morning, Katie walked in with coffee in her hands, one for her and one for Jim. When she walked in the police station, Katie smiled seeing Jim already in his office working. "I see you are getting an early start." She spoke with a small smile, placing the coffee in front of him.

Jim had gotten some leads from the Batman last night after Katie had left. He looked up and nodded, "I have a lead that hopefully will take us somewhere, thanks, you don't have to keep buying me coffee.." He chuckled.

Katie smiled. "I don't mind." She said softly as she sat on the edge of his desk. "And where did this lead come from?" She asked curiously as she closed over the file he had sitting out on his desk.

Jim looked up, a little taken back by the way she was seated in his desk. He cleared his throat, "I've got my ways" he chuckled. "Did you have a good night?"

She looked at him and nodded. "I did. Henry was glad when I was home." She said as she took a sip of her coffee. She turned to him and smiled. "What about you?"

Jim smiled "that's good to hear, how is he doing?" He finished up typing up the report and hit print, "nothing too exciting for me just went home and tried to get some sleepy"

Katie looked at him. "He's good. We got into a slight argument last night over something, but I'm standing my ground on it. Regardless of what might come about." She said softly. She knew she had to tell him, but didn't know how or when to tell him.

Jim nodded, "that's how it was with me and my ex wife Barbara, we'd argue over my job over and over, it's best if I stay single." He shrugged. "I've got my kids and that's really all I need and this job" he stood up, "let's go interrogate some civilian"

Katie nodded, and sighed softly to herself. "Yeah..." She then stood up from the desk when he stood. "Lets go." She said, deciding that she would talk with Jim later on something. She put a small smile on her face and grabbed her coffee.

Jim didn't have time for love he was far too busy trying to save Gotham, still even after all these years. Of corse It had improved so much over the years there was still so much to do however "are you all right?" He asked Katie. She was quiet.

Katie looked at him and nodded. "Yeah..." She lied. "Lets just go..." She blinked away her tears, not wanting Jim to see the tears. Things did happen at her house last night, but she couldn't believe it happened.

Jim looked at Katie with a frown, somethjng was off about her he could tell. "Ms. Jackson something is clearly bothering you, do my our want to talk about it?"

Katie closed her eyes, wiped away her tears and then looked at him. "I'm pregnant...and Henry left me last night..." She mumbled softly. She looked down at the floor, trying to do her best not to cry.

Jim's mouth was a hard line, he couldn't believe what was happening to Katie. "That is just awful I'm so sorry, you sure you want to be here? I can take you home? " He stopped and rubbed her shoulder.

Katie shook her head. "No, I just get more upset being at home. I am fine. I just need to be here. Be here with you..." She mumbled the last part as she turned to him. She buried her face into his body, and softly cried. "Jim...why did this have to happen..." She mumbled softly. She was really trying to stay calm, but since she found out she was pregnant, things haven't been the same at home...or really the same in general.

Jim looked at the blonde woman who was in in tears he rubbed her arm gently and sighed. "If you're sure... I don't know why 1terrible things happen to good people life isn't fsir." He pulled back, "do you want to grab some lunch first? Maybe that'll help?"

Katie looked towards him, wiping away any tears that came across her cheeks. She was really happy that she had Jim. Sure he was her boss, but he was someone she could turn to. "Lunch...sure we can get lunch..if you would like." She spoke as she pulled away from him. "I'm sorry for getting like this."
