“But you didn’t, did you? Besides why would you ask me of all people, you were dating that hufflepuff literally a week ago, go ask her.” She huffed.

Remus nodded. “Yeah they’re dense, but I’m sure they’ll figure it out soon enough. “Actually, do you want to spend the day in Hogsmeade with me? Might force the two of them together then we can find what to wear.”

"I just asked you like three minutes ago," he said to her with wide eyes, "and I literally found out about the dance this morning so you can'y hold that against me, you never gave me a chance to," he told her crossing his arms over his chest.

She smiled, "sure, thats actually a great idea and it'll give me a chance to get to know you better," Ferne said with a small smile.

“You didn’t ask me, you told me my date was a creep and offered yourself up instead, if that’s your idea id be sad to hear what the girls you date have to deal with,” She scoffed. “And besides id rather go with some I could get to know, rather than someone who’s asking probably to hide from someone and then find someone else halfway through the night.”

Remus nodded as they walked wondering how she found out. “So can I ask how you knew?” He asked her hesitantly.

She looked at him then smiled, "Full moon, you were always kind of off around that time, and you came back hurt," she said to him softly, "and the scars," she said looking at his face. "I just kind of assumed, and when I did research it said the pepperup potion worked for after a change so I tried it, and it worked. Normally they only work for people with the cold or the flu - seasonal allergies but after a change your immune system is shot which is why it works so well," she said to him with a small smile.

"I suppose it's good to know since I want to be a healer," she said to him lightly.

"Fine, then go with someone else; I wont go at all," he said to her shrugging a bit, he figured he could manage to get some kind of ale to drink for the night.

She sighed, pouting at the table. She didn’t want him not to go, but she figured since he was her friend he wouldn’t ditch her halfway through. “Yes you will, help me find a dress,” She sighed, getting up from the table. “Remus and Ferne have likely gone so help me find something to wear.”

Remus nodded. “Yes, Madame Pomfrey has been helpful with that,” He added. “So then that’s how you found out?”

She nodded a little, "I don't want to say it was easy, but yeah," she said to him smiling a little, "I don't think less of you for it, doubt it was a consentual most who are turned don't want it," she said to him as she wet her lips. "I also have a special interest, there was someone with your condition in my family some years ago," her great uncle had been attacked during a full moon - the man who turned him felt horrible about what he'd done; in turn her uncle died during one of his full moons after a fight with another werewolf.

"It's why I want to work with Potioneer Belby, to find a cure or at least something to make it not so dangerous," Ferne told him honestly, "After this year I'll be his apprentience then I'll start my healers internship at St. Mungos and open my own apocathary,"

He whined, "why though it's just a dance, nothing serious," he said to her as he got up off the bench and looked at her.

“Then why even ask me to go if you didn’t care to go in the first place,” She pointed out. “Could have just left me blissfully unaware.”

“I’m sorry to hear that, but you can’t be sure that you might think less of me,” He said quietly.

"Because I only want to go with you," he said as he shrugged a little, "If I'm not going with you, it's pointless,"

She smiled a little as she looked at him, "Of course I can be sure, you're a good guy, Remus," she said to him nodding, even if he didn't believe it she'd do whatever she could to help him to see what she saw. "I think you should give yourself more credit, not many people would handle this condition with such dignity, and if you need anyone to talk to don't hesitate to come to me. I'll always listen,"

She snorted. “A bit dramatic, Sirius,” She said to him, shaking her head. “If going with you will get yo to go then fine, but I want to have a good time, and don’t leave me for someone.”

He looked at her and smiled. “You’re so kind. Amazing you weren’t sorted in hufflepuff but you’re so intelligent it’s not really a surprise.”

Ferne smiled a little, "My mom is a hufflepuff, I suppose I get a lot of my personality from her. My dad is a Ravenclaw, though my other aunts when to beaubatons," she said to him nodding a bit as she wet her lips, "I see no perks in being rude or selfish, and I like the way it makes me feel.. being kind that is, just knowing what I want and how I can help others really makes me happy,"

"I would never," he said putting a hand to his chest in faux offense, "Mary Fraiser was an exception cause I figured she was fine snogging some bloke," he said to her nodding a bit.

“Or at least introduce me to someone before you disappear,” She sighed. “I just want to have a good time,” She added.

Remus smiled. “Well I suppose I’m not surprised. Then, you’ve researched it for a while I guess.”

She nodded, "Yeah there are some things I've looked at, so many books and studies," she said to him, "and I'm positive that aconite and the lunar poppy from bulgaria would work in the potion. Aconite can only be harvested on a fullmoon and the lunar poppy only flowers on a fullmoon at night for twelve hours - it has to be picked then or else it loses its medicinal properties. People often use it for insomnia as its a great sedative but it's very finicky," she told him.

He smiled, "Come on love, you know I'd never ditch you, you'll be stuck with me all night," he said to her as he looked at her with a small smile.

She was skeptical about it but she nodded. “Alright, I want to find a dress in Hogsmeade, come help.” She didn’t think he would be the kind of guy who wanted to be surprised, as far as she knew they were just going as friends so it wouldn’t matter.

He looked at her. “You’ve done all this research for me?” He asked in confusion. “You didn’t need to do all of this, I’m sorry if it caused you any trouble.”

She smiled and shrugged a little, "You.. and others, I'm sure they're others who would rather a normal life," she said as she looked at him, "and I'm in the works for a new version of the pepper up potion so you don't steam out your ears,"

He smiled and nodded a little as he sighed, "Alright, what colors are you thinking?" he asked curiously.

“Black or red, I like those colors,” She said, walking out towards the gates. “But nothing too crazy,” She nodded.

He nodded. He didn’t realize she cared enough, he was mainly surprised she didn’t run screaming but she seemed to not care at all. “That...would be nice,” He laughed as they walked.

She smiled a little as they walked out, "the air is so nice out," she said as she took a deep breath.

He agreed with her quietly, "I like those too, it'll suit us," he said to her.

She nodded. “So if you plan to wear black I’ll match you pretty well,” She smiled. “Honestly Sirius what are we going to do with you? I still have to tell Declan,”

He nodded. “I’m glad it’s not too cold out yet,” He smiled. “Are you really okay with going with me? You didn’t have anyone better ask you?” He asked again.

Ferne laughed a little,"No one wants to go with me, and I really do want to go with you; I didn't expect you to ask me," she said to him shrugging a little as she pushed some hair out of her eyes. "I thought that for sure you'd ask Anne or Willa,"

He smiled, "I'm sure there is plenty we can do love, we've got a lot of time till the dance," he said to her.

Remus shook his head. “Oh why? They’re nice, but I like you more. I like spending time with you more than them.” He admitted.

She sighed. “It’s only about a week,” She told him. “Besides I need a dress and to find a hair style, I’m not going to get fought for going with you right?”

Her cheeks burned and she laughed shyly before shrugging, "I don't know... they're prettier I suppose, atypical standard of pretty anyway," she said as she looked at him then wet her lips.
