Marauders

She raised her eyebrows at him. “Who are you?” She asked in mild confusion. He complimented her all the time but it never seemed genuine, like he was trying to mess with her. “You’re starting to worry me, is this a joke,” She asked, wondering if he was playing with her.

“I don’t really care for typical beauty. Besides, you didn’t run screaming when you found out. That’s more important than anything else. Maybe you see me for me,” He shrugged as he looked at her.

Ferne shrugged, "I think its highly immature to blame or be afraid of someone for something they never wanted for themselves." she said to him lightly, "Instead of avoiding the problem people should want to find a solution to the problem at least thats how I see it. I'm more worried about you hurting yourself than anything, you always come back with new scratches and bruises," she frowned.

He shook his head, "OF course it's not a joke, why would I do that? I've pranked you before, love, and I would never play a joke like this - thats cruel," he said to her.

Lucy walked out to the practice fields where Sirius was out running laps. “Amelia is looking for you,” She called out, waiting until he was within earshot. “What have you done to that poor girl, she looks a wreck,”

Remus walked into the library, seeing Ferne surrounded by books. “Are you preparing for exams? They’re weeks away,” He teased her, sitting down across from her.

He rolled his eyes a little, "aven't done anything," he said to her as he stopped pushing his hand through his hair, "Just told her I didn't see anything happening with her," he said lightly.

She looked up, "But eventually they won't be," she said smiling, "But no, this is all the books here that have anything about aconite and lunar poppys," she said decisively. "It's bee difficult but I finally got permission to use the restricted section,"

She sighed. “That’s unfortunate, here’s to hoping you don’t get potioned again, thay wouldn’t be fun,” She said to him. “Are you practicing for the match coming up?”

He looked at the books and her. “You’re researching werewolves,” He said softly, looking at the pages and suddenly being filled with immense guilt. “You don’t have to do this, you know.”

"Of course I don't have to, but I want to," she said to him shrugging a little as she wet her lips. "Though I thought you'd like to read this, in case you find a lady you want to spend your future with. No studies out of the hundreds that have been found have shown that lycanthropy to be hereditary," she reassured him with a small smile curving her soft features.

"You would have magical children for sure, but they wouldn't have what you do," she told him as she showed him the highlighted area in the book.

He nodded,"Yeah, I am, better to train now than to end up out of shape. Staying on the broom while flying fast isn't as easy as some would think. I wonder if they would make seats more comfortable for them?" he thought outloud.

“Probably, someone who understands the mechanics of flight could probably do it. Why were you out here by yourself? James not able to practice with you?” She asked him.

He smiled. “Thanks but I don’t think I’d put anyone through this. If I loved someone, I would do my best to dissuade them from me for their sake.” He said a little sadly.

He chuckled a little, "He is with Lily, probably snogging somewhere," he said making a face then sighing, "So I'm out here alone for the meanwhile," he sighed before looking at her, "Did you want to join me?" he asked her curiously.

She smiled, "Personally, I think that should be best left up to the person who wants to spend their life with you. The world will change, Remus and it'll be better than you can even fathom but we have to accept the things we're given." Ferne moved the books sat next to her then patted the space on the floor for him to join her. " I accept the fact that by working with Damocles Belby my reputation as a pureblood will be ruined. Despite being in Ravenclaw, my family is still very much tied up in pureblood politics."

\She flipped the pages in the book she was reading, "if I can't find the cure I want you to accept that fact of who you are, and I still care about you now and the woman who decides that her future lies with you shouldn't have her choice made for her by a man," she smiled a little, "Us witches are bright, we don't need decisions made for us; anyone would be lucky to be loved by you, Remus. You're far more than your furry little problem,"

He shook his head. “I suppose you’re right, I don’t want them to be forced into anything but even if things do change, they might have to deal with me while it still hasn’t. And I don’t want to be a burden,” He admitted quietly.

Lucy smiled. “I suppose I could, how can I help you?”

"Help me? How about timing me?" he offered as he wet his lips, "I need to know just how long it takes me to run this lap then cut it half by the end of the year," he said to her seriously. Most quidditch players didn't worry much about endurance on the ground, as it didn't take much energy like muggle sports.

Ferne shrugged, "I'm sure it won't bother them if they truly love you, my hope for you is that you don't let it rule every part of your life." Ferne said to him honestly then touched his hand, "I can't understand what you're going through, but I see how society treats those who are different and I want to put an end to it. I'll do everything in my power to change the laws against you, and those who are like you. It's unfair, and down right barbaric," she said her eyes flashing angrily at the thought.

Lucy nodded and pulled out a piece of parchment. “Alright, I’ll go sit and tell you when,” She told him, waitinf hnril she had her timer set up on the paper. “I’ll start when you go,” Sjetold him.

He smiled and leaned over, kissing her cheek softly. “I’m sure If you were fighting it it would end immediately,” He smiled at her. “But unfortunately society isn’t ready for people like me to be seen thay way, and I’ll just have to wait but it’s good to know someone like you.”

He nodded a little then began running as fast as he could, to him this was an important part of his training. It would allow him to be healthier in the long run as well, with the war coming up he knew after graduation things would be different. He wanted to join for the cause against Voldemort and end his power.

Ferne's cheeks flushed a little as she looked down, "I really will do my best," she said to him gently with soft eyes. Ever since she was in fourth year she wanted nothing more than to be able to protect those who needed it, but it'd been hard. With her family's name and her status in society no one took her seriously.

She waited until he came back and told him his time. “Are you nervous? For the game I mean? Feels like something so big now but probably small when we get out into the real world.”
