Harper offered him a smile, before turning and moving to her bed. Laying down she sighed, feeling her body meet the soft fluff of the mattress. "I want a burger." She told him truthfully, rolling to look up at him. "I want a big fat juice burger, with the works." She explained better, "none of the shit your cook think's food." She shook her head. "I have no idea how you eat that shit." Having not eaten in the past few days had her light head an woozy.

Carter stood still his mind going blank. After letting a second go by he quickly reacted to the threat at hand. The man charging him with a knife lunged only to have his arms twisted back wards, the knife meeting with his stomach. Falling out onto the ground to bleed out. Turning his eyes locked onto the others in the room. "Big mistake." The one controlling fire said, the flames around Abigail going higher. Carter shook his head before charging at him, the guy couldn't even respond fast enough, before Carter appeared behind him, his bodying hitting the floor lifeless. The fire around Abigail going out. Turning to face the red head he tilted his head, before moving in between him and Abigail. "I don't want to hurt you." He said honestly. "But you will not harm her." The red head frozen looked at his two comrades lifeless body, moving quickly to back out of the room. Running down out of the room. A scuffle could be heard before a loud scream. Carter couldn't stop Abigail as she reacted to the sound of her aunt. Jumping quickly he moved to the hallway, seeing Abigail's aunts body crumpled in the floor quickly bleeding out.

Logan was a little surprised at Harpers smile. He moved into the room and smiled as she said what she wanted and he nodded. "I wish you would have told me earlier you were displeased with the food." he said and smiled gently. He would have to have many adjustments done to the menu for Harper. "I was raised on that so I would say you get use to it but I won't make you." he said and stood close by but not towering over her. "I will have to cooks prepare it for you. Is there anything else I can bring you that would be more to your taste?" he asked and looked out into the hall. "Valon bring a water!" he ordered and then looked back at Harper still nervous about her current state. "Might you like to join me in the dinning room for dinner?" he asked really wanting to see her out of this room. "Then afterwards you would wonder about as you like. I heard about the incident earlier and have righted it." he said.

Abigail gasped as Carter defended her. He saved her and she turned to him as the red head ran off but then she heard the scuffle and turned running out as the scream came. "Auntie!" she yelled and ran over to her aunt and fell to her knees putting her head into her lap. "Don't move." she said as her aunt reached up to her. She listened but started to mumble to her. "You filly liar, you are no Pura. You're mother was always a whore and she birthed a vile thing like you claiming you as my brothers soul heir." she spat and Abigail flinched. "Auntie please." she said tears welling up in her eyes. "Filthy Meta's couldn't even kill their own kind but got to me? You bastard child this is your fault!" she coughed blood spilling from her mouth. Abigail's tears ran down her cheeks onto those of her aunt. "Get off me filth!" she yelled and went to scrape at Abigail who was pulled back and she pressed her hands into her eyes as her aunts dying words cursed Abgial's very existence. Abigail sat there sobbing for a little while before she looked up at the ceiling and pushed the tears away. She stood and smoothed out her dress turning to a shocked maid. "Clementine call the cops. See to the will and that is is followed. Call my father and have him take over the estate and all of the details." she said and then leaned down on unsteady legs and took off her shoes and dropped them by her aunts lifeless body. She walked silently down the hall her shoulders squared and her face blank as she went to her purse and called Alex explaining the situation and telling him to meet her for tea in the city. Abigail wasn't going to let this affect her. "And bring me a clean set of cloths." she said then hung up the phone and walked to a window looking out her hands and dress still covered in her aunts blood.

Harper glared up at Logan, "why would I even bother." She told him shaking her head, before closing her eyes. She didn't have the strength to argue with him. "If I must," she agreed to eating with him. She frowned hearing him holler for a water, she wished he would be quite so she could rest her aching head. "Hey drink this." He said before helping her sit up so she could take a drink of the water he held. Her hand came up grasping his wrist, steading herself while drinking.

Carter stood above Abigail and her aunt, his blood boiling as he glared down at the dying woman. His hatred for the woman slowly stuffing out as she died. Moving to follow behind Abigail he stood listening to her calling Alex. Once she stood staring out the window he moved in behind her. "Are you hurt?" He questioned, knowing are you okay wasn't the right thing to ask at the moment. Placing his hand on her red tinted arm, he frowned feeling the heat a burn she'd received from being incased in fire. Moving his hand over the burn he concentrated on his hand, feeling the heat slowly leaving her body he smiled as pulled his hand back. The spot gone.

Logan frowned. "Because I want to listen to you." he said and smiled softly as she kind of agreed to have dinner with him. He would take it but didn't expect much. Her presence would be a nice change. Logan nodded and helped her drink most of the water setting it by her bed side. "Alright I will leave you to rest. Dinner will be ready by 6:30 so if you have any trouble please ask for directions but I figure you would like to try and find it on your own." he said and then bit his lip. "If I can't take care of you Harper then please do so for me." he said still worried about her and then he closed the door on his way out. Logan went to the kitchen and gave instructions. He then went to make sure other things would suit Harper better.

Abigail finally looked back at Carter as his hand touched a burn she hadn't realized she had. She bit her lip her sad eyes not shedding another tear as she looked at him perhaps more vulnerable in that moment then ever before and sharing that with a man she hardly knew. Abigail opened her mouth then closed it and her eyes taking a few deep breaths before she could speak. "She was trying to have me killed." she said and then looked up at him an anger burning under the sadness. She sighed and reached over grabbing the curtain and ripping the end off and tied it around the cut on her arm. She didn't want him to heal it, she wanted to remember. "I'm fine." she finally answered his question. Alex and Leah came in and Leah gasped. "Oh my good babe." she said and rushed too her gathering her away from carter and to a bathroom. Alex walked to Carter. "She's alive." he said and then looked up at the people rushing around the house in a frenzy because of the death of the mistress of the house. Once Alex heard the story he nodded. "I think once the shock wears off she will be grateful that you were here." he said and shook his head. "Ms. Abigail has always been stronger than people assume and yet still vulnerable. She might not have liked her aunt but she still felt she was family. She is perhaps the only Pura who knows what it is to be hated for just existing." he said and patted Carter on the back. "Anything you need let me know. Abigail will still want to finish out the day. She won't stop because of this. And she will need you more now than when she was in danger. You might not like her or know her yet but eventually you will understand. It's inevitable so until then please try to be supportive. She is the most lonely person in the world." he said and looked towards the bathroom where the girls had disappeared.
Abigail came out cleaned and looking calm on the surface but her eyes burned deep a plastered but easy to believe smile on her face. "Thank you Leah." she said and then looked to Alex. "I believe we have a lunch to attend." she said and he nodded. "Yes my lady." he said and she took a deep breath and then walked to Carter. "If you need the rest of the day off Alex will be escorting me. You have my thanks for you're duties today." she said her eyes sad. She herself had never killed or seriously injured anyone but she wasn't going to ignore the life lost here. She might not believe what they did was right but she could understand they had their own reasons and to someone their lives had mattered. Abigail was not ignorant enough to believe that it might not affect Carter. She would rather he stay with her because she trusted him, had since the moment they met, but she gave him the option to go back with Leah.

Harper woke from her nap, looking around. Sitting up she sighed feeling the hungry pains back again. Groaned she exited her bed, she'd told him she'd join him at dinner to night so stumbling to her dresser she started shuffling through the drawers looking for something to wear. Finally finding something she like she stripped taking everything off before slipping her dress over her head. Shuffling her feet into shoes, before exiting her room in search of the dinning room. She fumbled around the house looking for Logan or the dinner room one.

Carter frowned before shaking his head. "I'm fine Alex can accompany Leah home." He told her, "my job after all is to protect you." He said, moving stand in front of her. "This is what I do." He informed her, so I don't need the day off." He stood firm on what he was telling her.

Logan smiled seeing Harper. "Hey you're close." he said and stopped by her. "This way." he said and walked with her into the dinning room. It was the less formal one he had chosen for their dinner tonight. He pulled out her chair for her then sat beside her. He smiled gently. "So the cooks are having a hard time thinking of meals that might suit your tastes better so if you would like to give them any ideas about your favorites or things you would eat just let me or them know." he said and smiled softly. "You look very nice tonight." he said. He knew she was just being presentable but still he was glad she was at least up and dressed.

Abigail smiled softly. "Thank you Carter." she said and sighed. "I'm sorry your first day on the job was so... active." she said and then stepped back. "We have a lunch we need to attend." she said and sighed. Leah ended up driving herself back Alex ridding in the front with the driver as they drove into town. Abigail smiled as they pulled up to a cafe. She got out and walked into the cafe seeing her friends Ronald and Jessica. Abigail walked over and hugged them Ronald held her a little to tight for a little to long before he released her looking her over his eyes hungry. Abigail smiled and turned back to Carter. "Ronald, Jessica this is Carter. He's a new friend but I think you'll like him once he starts talking." she said almost teasingly. Abigail had yet to get him really talking but she was assuming and trying to make this comfortable for them all. They sat down and menus were passed out. Abigail looked over the menu and picked something out. Ronald glared at Carter as if he was sizing up the competition as Jessica asked Abigail about how things where going in her own life and Abigail listened without even stoping to consider to tell her friends what had happened only 30 minutes ago.

Harper sighed looking at him, feeling like she'd never find the room on her own. Sitting down in the chair he offered she turned to look at him. "I eat fat people food." She informed him, before picking up a glass of wine and taking a sip of it. Her eyes brow rose as she looked at him. "Burgers and wine?" She questioned him, ignoring his comment about her appearances. It was usually burgers and beer, but his knowledge of cultural foods was quite lacking. "It amazes me how people think they can better the lives of the little people but don't spend time with the little people." She said setting the glass back down.

Carter smiled at the two friends Abigail introduced him to. "Hello." He greeted, stopping his urge to bow. Sitting down next to Abigail he, frowned behind his menu not liking the feeling he was receiving from Ronald. He knew the guy was staring aggressively at him, masking it with a smile every time Abigail looked his way. Carter placed his menu down turning to stare at the beautiful woman next to him, amazed at how cold she was being. She'd just had her life threatened and wittiness her aunt die. Carter had been lost in his thoughts of her, when he heard Ronald speak. "So how do you two know each other?" He questioned, them. Smirking Carter reached up and grabbed Abigail's hand. "Her mother introduced us." He smiled, "right love?" He questioned, just fucking with Ronald. He didn't know if Abigail could see it but the man was hung up on her, and his hostility towards himself was pissing him off. So knocking him down a few notches is what he aimed for, he just hoped Abigail would play along.

Logan chuckled. "Well you don't look an once of it." he said and laughed as he sipped the wine rubbing the back of his neck. "It's good wine and I'm not big on beer. But if you would prefer I am sure there is a bottle somewhere in the kitchen." he said not explaining it was probably more for cooking then drinking. He nodded as she scolded him for thinking he could better her life when he knew nothing of it. "Aww I see." he said and sighed. "Harper there are a lot of things in your culture that are good but you shouldn't have to serve anyone. You are special." he said when she looked at him almost to accuse him that her brother had been special as well. He wanted to explain Abigail wasn't like other Pura and would treat him better than he ever could but Logan didn't.

Abigail looked up from her menu and forced a smile on her face from the zoning out she had been doing upon hearing Ronald's question. Carter took her hand and her eyes burst open looking a him and then chuckling as he explained her mother introduced them. She smiled it finally reaching her eyes as he called her love. "Cater..." she said socked and delighted. If her mother heard him say that she would have made her own grave just so she could roll over in it. Abigail nodded. "Yeah she did." Abigail said completely amazed at the turn around in him since this morning. She knew the situation probably showed him that she wasn't just an over protected spoiled brat but still she was glad he wasn't being cold anymore. It had been hard for her to think he saw her as something she wasn't. "She was very precise about our relationship too wasn't she?" she asked looking at him tilting her head as most people in this situation would when looking longingly at a new lover but Abigail did it curious as to where he was taking this. She knew Ronald had a particular kindness to her she didn't return but could Carter really be irking him on?

Harper glared at Yoongi, "I'm special." She scoffed, shaking her head. "I'd rather be dead then special." She muttered to herself. All her life she'd run and hide from this. She looked down at her plate she sighed, knowing that no matter what she wanted or said would matter. Logan were set on having things his way, and if that meant she was to be his, it would happen. She knew Logan had plans but she didn't know what they were. "Why?" She finally broke the silences, he'd never answered it before. "Why couldn't you have just perused me like before, instead of this?" She questioned him, knowing they had had something between them at one point. She'd seen him as interesting until he ruined her life.

Carter beamed at her once she continued the lie. "Yes, it was the first time someone's mother perused me in hopes for their daughter." He chuckled, nothing they were saying was a lie, but it was underlying fact of them dating. It was funny how a little word play on the truth could actually work in this instances. He watched as Ronald shifted in his chair, his nostrils flaring. The small things that let him know he'd pissed this man off. "But you it's how things go." He chuckled, before turning to look at Jessica. "So are you two dating?" He asked throwing the question back at her friends without addressing Ronald, knowing it would piss him off more.

Logan sighed. "Because I could tell you were going to reject me because your brother said so. I wanted a chance for you to love me. I know it might take time after all the things that I have done to you. I am sorry, and I know that is not enough and I can never get back what we had." Logan sighed. Dinner was served and he looked at the burger and tilted his head to the side seeing they put fries with it but also a bowl of broccoli on the table. He chuckled. "I guess they couldn't help themselves." he said and chuckled.

Abigail chuckled and nodded. She watched as Ronald rubbed the back of his neck. "We're just friends." he said and Jessica blushed. "Yeah friends." she said. Abigail frowned. She knew her friend liked Ronald. "Carter dear what are you thinking about for lunch?" she asked changing the subject. Abigail smiled gently and hoped he would understand that though Ronald might not be the softest man and a jealous man but still they needed to move on from teasing him if not for his sake then for Jessica's.

Harper smiled softly at his laugh, she'd missed it. "Burger, wine and broccoli." She furrowed her brows. "I guess a growing boy need his vegetables." She teased him mildly, since he was always pampered. Picking up a fry she popped into her mouth, the taste instantly satisfying her pallet. A soft smile played on her lips as she enjoyed her food. Lifting her eyes to Logan she noticed him staring at her. "If I need to I'll go eat in my room." She threatened, she didn't like being watched while she ate.

Carter smiled over at Abigail, "I hadn't decided." He told her, before raising a brow. "Any suggestions." He'd asked the entire table, but kept his eyes on her. His body a bit relaxed though his mind was far at play. Listening to the sounds around them, feeling the tension in the air, he knew came from Ronald. But even though he played the part of a friend/boyfriend he was still a guard first and for most. He'd be teasing Ronald to see if the levels in the room changed or wavered. They'd wavered so he knew that anything he'd been reading had come from his table. Smiling at Abigail he gently squeeze her hand before releasing it. His shoulders dropping some, as he felt the air around him turn normal.

Logan frowned. "I'm sorry you just look almost happy again. guess I was just enjoying the sight and kind of envying that burger." he said and chuckled. He took a bite of his food then talked to her again after swallowing. "I missed you're smile." he said and looked down at his food trying a fry. "Mmm this is really good." he said and chuckled. "I know poor rich Pura never had a fry before." he said and shook his head. "Well maybe you can educate me on the things you know better than me and if you will let me maybe I can show you some of my world too." he said hoping that eventually she would want to.

Abigail smiled as he squeezed her hand and let it go. "Well the southwest steak salad is my favorite but the Ruben is also pretty amazing." she said and hummed. "Actually I think I'm getting the Ruben." she said and laughed happily though that cloud settled back into her eyes. Abigail looked at Carter studying him. He was so different from all the other people that her mother hired for her. He wasn't content in just doing as he was told without being himself. He didn't hide from her, perhaps it was because he didn't know her secret. Abigail figured if he kept watching her though he would eventually figure it out. Abigail thanked the waiter as he put a glass of water in front of her. "So Abigail are you coming with us tonight to Ricco's party?" she asked and Abigail smiled. "I was thinking about it." she said and Ronald saw his opening. "Come on Abigail come party with us. It's been forever! You and Jessica can go out and get a new dress and shoes." he said and Abigail looked over at Carter. "You feeling up to a party?" she asked him knowing she would decline the dress shopping and just hang out in the flat she had here in town. She wanted to get Carter's take on it though.

Harper listened to him, she knew he was trying to make her feel less like a prisoner in her now own home. Raising her brow at his comment about the burger. She didn't know why he tried to hard to please her, it wasn't like she really mattered to him. Once he got what he wanted from her he'd be done. "What could you possibly teach me, that I would even wan to know about?" She asked raising a brow. "And teaching about thing I know about would mean we'd have to go places, and you kick your staff out of the kitchen every now and again."

Carter leaned closer to her, "can we discuss this later?" He asked wanting to have all the information he needed before agreeing to doing it. "You do have a schedule." He reminded her not wanting to sound like a buzz kill. He'd never had a problem with parties before, he'd been a bodyguard for a very wealthy bachelor. His abilities worked where ever he was at. He just didn't want to bite off more than he could chew, the threat her mother had issued hanging over his head as well.

Logan smiled. "I am fine with kicking out the kitchen staff but if we go out then our body guards have to go with us but don't worry they won't get in the way." he said and smiled softly eating more. "I could teach you more things then you realize. Do you know anything about theater?" he asked and smiled. "It's one of the biggest events in my culture. I think you might like it, some of it might be boring though." he said and chuckled. Logan was hoping she would like it.

"Sure." Abigail said softly and looked at Jesica. "I will let you know if we will be coming." she said and smiled. "But I don't think I will be going out shopping this time." she said and smiled as the waiter came over and took their orders. She sat back and looked at Carter after he had ordered his food. She wondered if he like Alex would want to keep her out of the public places. She refused to spend all her time alone and this was one of her rare indulgences where she got to be around people she enjoyed. Abigail spent most of the lunch talking with Ronald and Jessica about how their lives had been and they hardly asked about hers. It was okay though Abigail found it better this way. It had been hard growing up like a normal child only to have everything change once puberty hit.

Harper looked at him, frowning she knew what theater was she'd just never been able to go. "Like musical?" She questioned, it was odd talking to him about things. She found her self rather excited to continue the conversation, she knew she was trapped her for the rest of her life. But if he was willing to give her a bit of freedom to just bare his company then she could manage that. It wasn't like he was forcing himself on her, he was actually trying his best to be a man she could fall for.

Carter sat and listened to Abigail's friends as they boasted and bragged about their lives. The things they thought were important were so meniscal, they didn't know the importance of family. They took their parent money for granted and put themselves in a bubble of fine things and people with like ideas. He kept his mouth shut knowing that if he said something about this, they'd know he was at Meta. And he wasn't sure if Abigail wanted them to know or not. She'd introduced him like he was a friend, she wasn't like these two in front of him. Something had happened to change her, and he knew that, he just wondered why she put a mask on and hid from her so called friends. If these to really cared for her they would have excepted her knowing her secret. Or maybe she was being smart by keeping it quite from them, because the two didn't look so trust worthy. He was now starting to see what her mother had been blabbing about the moment he met her.

"Yeah all kinds. There are the musical performances, the operas and the classics. That is just the beginning. There are all sorts of museums and places you have hardly heard of and things in those places that I have yet to see as well. The world is yours Harper, as long as you're with me. I know it isn't what you had wanted but I hope that it's not the worst thing." he said and then looked down at his plate taking a bite. "I really want you to be happy some day with this life, with this home and with me." he said. "I know I will screw up and probably royally sometimes but I hope I can also be good enough for you to forgive me." Logan said and sipped his wine.

After lunch she said goodbye to her friends and got in the car with Carter. She smiled as she sat next to him with a sigh. "I missed these normal things." she said and looked at him. "I have an apartment here in town. We'll go there for now. I have a few things I have to do before later in town but I need to rest first." she said and slumped in her seat. "What did you want to talk about? Is it the crowd at a party? Is that not something you want to do?" she asked. "I can understand after today you might not want to push our luck but I really don't get to do this often at all." she said and looked back at him blushing and forcing herself to be quiet so he could talk.

Harper rolled her eyes. "I know there are different types of them, I was talking about your presences." She was wondering what had gotten into him, he was talking like they were going to be a couple, which she highly doubted would ever happen. "I feel like a prisoner, so if we go somewhere are you going to trust me not to run away?" She asked him, she knew that he'd always had bodyguards around. Though they would only hover in public places where he could easily be hurt. So she wondered if the same would apply for her.

Carter was happy that lunch had finally ended but now he was being bombarded with questioned. "You obliviously don't understand my ability yet." He informed her. "I didn't agree to going to the party because that decision is Alex's, I don't need any of that information." He shook his head. "How well do you trust these friends and the person throwing the party?" He questioned. Knowing she had to convinces Alex not him. If she really wanted to go then that was fine, he just didn't trust that Ronald guy on bit.

Logan didn't understand what she meant. "I don't want you to feel like a prisoner Harper. The guards will accompany you of course as they would me but I won't follow you everywhere. I would like us to go together of course but you are my guest not my prisoner." He said and frowned. Perhaps he had made it so she felt that way. "I would like you to stay and give me a chance, give this life a chance of course but my goal is not to force you into anything Harper." he said and smiled softly nervously at her.

Abigail smiled. "No you're right I don't know how you're power works, we haven't talked much." she said softly. "And I think you are mistaken about Alex's role. He works for me. So if we go depends on you because I care what you think." she said and sighed. "If Alex had his way I would never go anywhere." she said and shook her head. "But as far as trusting them? My friends have been my friends since middle school and we've kept in slight contact over the years. I wouldn't say trust in the real sense of the word but I don't think they would hurt me on purpose." she said and sighed. "As for the party goers, no I wouldn't really trust them either. My trust is not so easily gained Carter. You just happen to be one of those rare people that reopen enough to read the honesty there. It's complicated." she said and blushed.

Harper frowned before looking at him, trying to see if he was lying. "So you're saying I can come and go as I please, as long as I have a baby sitter?" She questioned him, knowing he knew what she meant. She like the idea of being able to leave this place, granted she had no where else to go, no money. So she knew that fleeing would be pointless. She'd have to return if she wanted a place to sleep.

Carter raised a brow at her words. "Do you wish to attend the party?" He questioned her, after hearing her ramble about everything else. He didn't care for the way she treated Alex's knowing the man cherished her. "I don't have opinion of the matter." He informed her, knowing that he could handle anything thrown at him. "You just have to follow my orders." He knew that it sounded like he was being bossy, but he didn't mean he'd tell her what she could and couldn't do, just when it came to protecting her, she had to do so.

Logan frowned and looked down nodding. "Yeah, you don't have to stay inside all day. The driver will even take you into town if you like." he said and then looked up at her. "I want you to be happy Harper, I know I keep saying it but that's because I mean it." he said and sighed. "So if you want to go out on your own that's fine the body guard will go with you and then when ever you're ready to come back that day he will make sure you get back alright either by calling the driver or what not." He said and then at a fry.

Abigail nodded. "Carter I haven't so much as been out of the grounds in six months. You can understand why I might be a little stir crazy." she said and sighed. "I appreciate Alex and all that he does to keep me safe but a life is not fully lived when you live it all alone in the cage of even an extensive piece of land like the Larson Mansion." she said and sighed looking at him. "Alright then if that's all captain then let's go. I'll call Jessica once we get to the apartment." she said and sat up a little more in her seat looking excited. Abigail grinned as Alex rolled down the screen separating the front from he back. "We're five minutes out Ms. Asher." he said and she grinned. "Thanks Alex." she said and he nodded and looked at Carter then rolled up the window. Abigail sighed. "I think I might take a nap though." she said knowing she wouldn't sleep but some time to lay down might help the nagging feeling that she was still in danger.
