Land of The Dead

Ada felt him let go and glanced back hearing his comment and looked back at Augustus, feeling his arm go around her. She nodded gently hearing his words and walked with him towards his home, pulling her cloak closer to her body.

"How do you know him?" She asked him frowning. "And why is he here??" She looked at him confused and scared.

Augustus looked at her, "he was in my unit, in the war," he commented softly. He kept his arm around her, "and I'm not sure yet," he said.

Marcus walked with them towards the Redfang estate, a few steps behind.

The group made it into the estate, Augustus lead them both up towards the main house. He'd never taken Ada there before, he was hoping one of his brothers was up and standing watch.

Ada frowned and said, "Why did you leave? I thought it had ended?" She asked him confused. "What was the war about?" She was just curious at this point and nodded her head.

She looked up seeing the estate and blinked shaking her head and mumbled, "I really don't want to go in here." She gripped tightly to her cloak and looked around, feeling a tad bit comforted by Augustus' arm around her.

She wondered what business this person had with Augustus. She had heard something about death and some other strange things, but she didn't understand barely any of it.

Augustus looked at her, 'I know, it's my best move," he whispered into her ear. He looked up seeing his brother on in the window. He gestured backwards towards Marcus, who was still holding onto the hilt of his weapon.

Marcus walked with the pair inside the main Manor. Augustus turned to Marcus, as they entered, "I'm sorry brother, but I won't talk at the end of a blade," he said lightly. Just as three very quick, Vampires tackled him to the ground.

Ada frowned softly hearing his words glancing up at the window seeing a vampire and bit down on her lip wondering if she would have to do introductions tonight. She was still recovering and felt as if she didn't look her best.

She looked back at Marcus seeing three vampires tackle him. She sighed softly running a hand through her hair licking the remainder of the blood off of her lip not knowing there was some on her chin. She looked around the manor gently unable to help herself.

Augustus relaxed when Marcus was taken down. He turned Ada, and gently wiped the blood off of her chin. "You okay?" he asked her. He turned to his 'brothers' "take his weapons and then sent him to the guest room, I'll be over in a moment," he commented.

As the scuffle calmed down, a tall figure stood at the top of the stairs and began descending. 'Augustus, is this the lovely lady, that has peaked your interest?" a silky velvet voice called. The older Redfang, that had turned Augustus was walking down the stairs.

Ada saw him physically relax and blinked feeling him wipe the blood off of her chin. She gave a nod. "I thought I could make it in my house..I'm sorry." She mumbled softly, running a hand over her face. She didn't mean to cause any trouble for him.

Ada turned hearing a voice her brilliant sapphire gaze turning to watch the figure. She tensed hearing his words, coughing into her hand gently unable to control it. She turned back to see who it was and just curtsied a little before standing back up.

Augustus smiled gently, "don't be, everything is fine now," he said lightly. He turned to look up at him, "yes it is, sorry for the intrusion," he said lightly. He looked at Ada, "relax, he's harmless," he said lightly.

Augustus' 'father stepped forward, "she is quite something," he commented. He took her hand and smiled softly, "how's he treating you? not forcing you to do anything I hope?" he commented softly.

Ada gave him a nod still feeling sorry for being trouble. She looked back at the vampire approaching wondering what his name was. She glanced at Augustus hearing his words and gave a small nod.

She looked back surprised at how close he was and watched him touch her hand, glad that the tingling wasn't there, but was a little curious as to know why it was only Augustus. She nodded and murmured, "No. He isn't forcing me to do anything." She replied softly.

Leonardo smiled softly, "good I'm glad, I taught him better than that,' he said lightly. He turned to Augustus, "it's no intrusion, was that a friend from the war?" he asked lightly.

Augustus looked at Leonardo, "yes, I think it's time you gave me an update about how that's going in my absence?" he commented. His father looked at him, "the same, each side pushing against the other, no one is as useful as you were, but I respect your desire to come home,' he commented.

He looked back at Ada, "now enough talk of violence, shall we talk of more beautiful things," he added.

Ada watched Leonardo and nodded gently as he spoke, well aware of his cold hand in her warmer one. She had to pull away to cough into her hand excusing herself for the noise.

She hoped she hadn't disturbed anyone else that lived there. She looked back intrigued as to what they were speaking about. She bit down on her lip as they did so, before letting it go seeing them look back at her and blinked in surprise.

She figured she couldn't go home now. She didn't want to seem rude. She gave a polite smile not wanting to seem rude, and the man seemed nice enough.

Augustus smiled softly, "okay, We seem to be getting on fine, I made some changes to the deal the council made," he said honestly. He looked at Ada, "everything is her choice, she doesn't have to do anything she doesn't want to, she just has to give me a chance," he said softly.

Leonardo chuckled softly, 'well that sounds fair," he started he turned to Ada, "tell me Ada, are you enjoying spending time with Augustus? anything you think he's keeping from you?" he asked.

Ada watched them listening to him speak with Leonardo and watched him before looking back at Augustus giving a small smile nodding her head in agreement. She turned back to look at Leonardo, brushing a strand of hair from her face.

She nodded in agreement before blinking wondering how he had known her name. She hadn't recalled telling him before blinking and murmured, "It's a process, but no, I don't think he's keeping anything from me." She told him her voice sweet as she looked up at Leonardo.

Leonardo smiled softly, "well I do hope it works out for you kids," he said softly. He shook her hand again, "now please excuse me, I have study," he said softly before walking back up the stairs.

Augustus smiled gently, "So that wasn't too bad I hope," he said softly. He looked at her, "I have to deal with Marcus, you're welcome to listen in, if you want, or you can head home," he said

Ada nodded her head feeling him shake her hand and wondered what he could be studying. She gave a smile again before turning to Augustus and mumbled, "I don't know."

She sighed and ran a hand over her face and said, "I want to listen.. My curiosity is going to kill me." She muttered running a hand through her hair. "I want to know what all of this is about especially since I was used as a shield practically." She mumbled.

Augustus nodded softly, "Okay come on," he said lightly. He took her hand and led her towards the room Marcus was being held in.

He left her at the door, and stepped around in front of Marcus. "Marcus, brother, if you wanted to talk you could of asked," he said lightly. He sat down on a chair in front of him.

Augustus talked Marcus through why he left the war, the growing fear that he was getting a taste for vampire blood, his fear he would turn into an uncontrollable killing machine. He paused, and added that he'd told the commanders to replace him, before sending them out again, and that he just wanted some semblance of peace. He pleased with him, to drop it, and find a home here.

Marcus sighed softly, "I'm sorry brother, I understand why you left, thank you for your honesty, but I can't stay, I feed just out of town," he admitted.

Ada nodded and felt him take her hand and walked with him looking around as she went not used to this place. It felt colder for some reason.

She waited in the doorway and left Augustus go and speak to Marcus. She bit down on her lip watching him sit down in front of him.

She was surprised to listen to his reasoning and watched Augustus unable to get the image of him beheading the vampire out of her head. She looked away but listened to it. She looked back up hearing Marcus and blinked frowning hearing him say he fed just out of town. She wanted to know who he fed on and if they were still living.

She shook her head, holding onto her necklace again and just stood there, leaning against the doorway as she did so, pushing hair from her face.

Augustus sighed softly, "oh Marcus, who was it?" he asked lightly. Marcus looked at him, "he was old, and smell of disease probably only had a few months left, but it felt amazing, you need to try hunting and feeding your full," he commented.

Augustus looked down, "you know I can't let you stay," he said. He stood up, thinking for a moment, "because we're brothers, and you've fought beside me, you get a one time pass," he commented. He looked at his brothers, "escort him to the edge of the county and let him go," he said.

"Marcus if you ever come back, I'll kill you," Augustus said plainly. Marcus nodded and looked at Ada, "Protect her, you realise if she dies, you'll go mad, if what you said is true," he said as he was taken from the room.

Ada frowned softly listening to the words and couldn't believe what she heard. She grasped the door for support before shaking her head not wanting to hear anymore. She started to walk down the hallway.

She leaned against the pillar for support before sighing softly letting out the air and beginning to calm herself down. She couldn't believe what he had said. She watched as he was taken out of the room and glared as he passed.

She looked back at Augustus and shoook her head. "What will happen to him?" She asked him, knowing she was only asking because he seemed like a friend to Augustus.

Augustus walked over to her, and took her hand. He sighed softly, "If he stays away he'll be fine, I'm hoping he'll find his way back to the war, and keep fighting, or find peace somewhere," he said honestly. He lead her out of the room, "So how was that? did you hear anything that troubles you?" he asked.
