Small Bump

Jamie wasn’t done eating yet but he didn’t make a big deal, he knew Poppy wanted to get away from her family. He followed her upstairs and went to her room. “You okay?”

"Yeah o was just afraid I'd say the wrong thing, or start crying or something" she told him softly, closing out her bedroom door.

She moved to her laptop and pulled up an empty word document. She needed to start planning.

Jamie nodded and sat with her. “Do you want me to look for doctors in the neighboring towns?”

Poppy looked at him and paused for a moment before nodding, this was all becoming too real. "Make sure it's at least a half hour away, and doesn't share any records with Sacred Heart" she told him gently before pulling up Evans facebook page. Just seeing his face made her breath catch in her throat. There was a mini version of him growing inside her. She really hoped he might pull through and want to be a part of her and her baby's life, but she didn't want to say it out loud for fear of insulting Jamie.

"I think I'll just ask him to meet me by the bleachers at lunch" she told Jamie, knowing the request woudn't seem too out of sorts given their history.

Jamie nodded. “I’ll be close by in case he gets stupid.” He said as he started looking up hospitals and doctors. “I found two hospitals that aren’t associated with your moms.”

"You think you could call for me? I don't think I can.. maybe give a fake name just incase?" she told him, biting down on her bottom lip, what she always did when she was nervous. she began typing the dates of when she planned to tell certain people, and do certain things.

"I should probably get a job" she commented glancing over at her friend. "Jamie, you're the best friend I could ask for"

Jamie nodded and then looked st her. “Don’t worry about getting a job, Pops. I can get another one and plus I got a lot saved up right now to help with the baby.” He said and put his hand up when she started protesting.

“Please let me help, Poppy. I just want what’s best for you and I know you’re upset about what happened but I love you and I want you to be happy.”

Poppy sighed, knowing there was no point arguing with him. She would look for one anyway, she didn't want to make him the sole provider to a baby that wasn't even his."J... what do I do if I Can't take care of it. What if it comes and I just can't love it?" she pondered quietly, biting down hard on her lip. It all seemed so foreign to her, like she wasn't even in her own body.

slowly she lay down, curling into a tiny ball on the bed she just wanted today to be over, to wake up tomorrow and for it to have all been a nightmare.

“If for some reason you don’t feel anything when it comes, I’ll adopt him or her. You’ll still be able to see it whenever you want but if and only if you don’t feel anything when the baby finally arrives.” Jamie explained.

Poppy was in slight disbelief of just how far Jamie was willing to go for her. His undying support had her welling up again and she began to sob.

"Jamie you are such a wonderful human being I don't deserve you, I really don't" she sobbed, sitting up and wrapping her arms around him. "J... promise me you won't get upset if Evan wants to help me? I want my Baby to know it's daddy.." she whispered as they hugged.

“I promise.” Jamie said, he was hoping Evan would but he knew him and he knew he didn’t care about anyone but himself. “And you promise me if he doesn’t, you’ll let me help.”

Poppy offered him a weak smile and nodded "I promise I will J,but I don't want you to feel like you need to take care of us as if we're you're own". she pulled him down into the bed to lie down with her, letting her eyes drift closed. All of the stress of the day had tired her out and she just wanted to go to sleep.

“I know but that won’t stop me from doing it and you know that.” Jamie said as he held her. “Goodnight Pops.”

Poppy nodded, a large yawn escaping her mouth. within a couple of minutes she was snoring gently, her slightly swollen belly hanging out of her shirt. Her nights sleep was restless and her dreams irratic.

Jamie woke up the next morning to go pee and came back in as Poppy was waking up. “Morning sunshine.” He said as he sat down and stretched. “You kept kicking me in the back last night.” He chuckled.

Poppy scratched her head as she woke up, stretching her arms up above her after she did so. She once again felt sick, but was slightly better now knowing why she felt that way. She sighed as she stood up off the bed and Jamie came back in to her room.

"Morning..oh sorry, my dreams were weird" she apologised, moving to stand infront of the mirror. She lifted up her top, examining her stomach. It was only slightly larger than usual, as if she ate a big lunch but she still felt as if everybody would know. "I don't want to go Jamie..." she moaned.

“I’ll be there for you no matter what, Pops.” Jamie said as he watched her. “You’re not showing yet, it’ll be okay.”

She ran a hair through her pink hair and sat down to apply a little make-up to her tired looking face. She knew she needed to speak to Evan today, and she wanted to look nice.

After applying a natural look, she got dressed in a light yellow sweater dress and some ankle boots, looking at herself from all angles in the mirror. "Do I look like you'd want to be the father to my baby?" she asked Jamie, watching his face in the mirror.

Jamie looked up, “you look beautiful Poppy, you always do.” He said. “We’ve got to run by my house so I can change clothes really quick before we go to school okay?”

Poppy began to blush as he complimented her, and did a small twirl for him, giggling softly- Bad idea. She gave him a thumbs up to acknowledge that it was fine they stopped by his before making a dash for the bathroom. She just about made the toilet boll. after getting sick, Poppy looked up to see her younger sister staring down at her, mouth open. "I'm gonna get mom" she said, toothpaste still dripping out of her mouth.
