I haven't put anything about me in my stories. I made completely different people, even if they are a little wrong for the story.

Like my story Psychotic Secrets. Its a horror story. The lead character is scared out of her mind the whole time. She even has a mental breakdown when a guy tells her that he likes her.

I try not to put anything about me in the characters because same people can mess it up and make it Mary-Sue. I used too, but the line between a original character and a Mary-Sue character is very thin.

I deal with my own feelings toward my mental illness a lot through my characters.

There's only one story that kind of portrays me.

Masks is about a girl that may seem plain and really freaking nice, but she's a total--as I wrote in the story--dick monger.

I'm not addicted to sex, but I think I'm in denial about being a nympho. Eh. :/

Even if it's not self-insertion (which is a solid majority of what I write), I feel like every single one of my characters, including the fanfiction ones, have to have a little bit of me in them or else I don't think they would be relatable to me as a writer or as realistic or relatable to the reader.

I feel like James Maslow shares my laid-back, go with the flow attitude, Logan Henderson shares my own flirtatious charm, Carlos Pena has the same genuine nature as I do, and Logan's character on BTR has the same little bits of self-consciousness and fear of rejection that I have. Even if it's just something small, there's always something that ties back to me that makes me care for each character.

Well, I don't have any stories posted here and I usually write in Portuguese and post on brazilian sites, but I kind of have a way to create OCs. Usually I choose the female names beginning with an A, not only because my name is Anna but i also really like the letter. (letters "E" and "L" are cool too)
Oh, they often have my physical features. It's not that I like myself that much - au contraire, that's my way of trying to feel better with my body and accepting myself as I am (idk if it works or not lol). Also, they seem more normal this way and I give my readers the feeling that they can see my characters anywhere anytime. :)
And they have parts of my taste in music 'cause I'm just that cool (LOL JK) Razz

I'd say that most of my stories are born from either my emotions or for school projects. Right now, at least. Maybe I'll write a character like myself in the future. I find it very difficult to write characters like me because that means I have to come face to face with the things that I really hate. Argue

I like to think that Andy from Generation Why Bother is largely based off of myself, what with both of us being completely unsuited for the adult world. But he's a hell of a lot more courageous and puts fun first. Truthfully, I'm a lot more like Oshie from the same story, which is probably why it became so easy to have him narrate - he's passionate and loves to draw and get lost in his worlds, but he's too scared to capitalize on his ideas and share them.

I've been really sort of wary of self-insertion stories mainly because my friend writes a lot of very fantasy-supernatural-creepypasta sort of stories and they usually include himself, with badass superpowers and a badass name and is feared by all, even Satan. Oh and of course he's totally invincible.

I mean, I won't avoid them completely. But I've tried, and it seems too easy to make yourself a Mary-Sue. I don't mean basing a character off of yourself, or putting your emotions/ideas in. I mean actually putting yourself as a character into the story.

I'm often times very critical of myself, and a lot of my characters are also like that.
