Featured Contests

Let's have a look at this week's contests!

Photo Drabble Contest

Drabbles are generally rather short pieces of work that are 100 words or less, although that word constraint is lax when it comes to online communities. Sometimes it depends on the person themselves as to what they count as a drabble, which is why swell is allowing a higher word limit of 750 words - enough so that those who struggle to write an entry in few words will be able to enter this contest.

The aim of her Photo Drabble Contest is for participants to choose a photo from the list provided and interpret it in any way they wish in order to write their drabble. It really is that simple, so there's really no reason not to enter!

A Picture of a Thousand Words

Prompts can be an array of different things: photos, lyrics, pieces of dialogue, or even quotes. Each inspire people differently and that's the beauty of our unique creativity. A Picture of a Thousand Words takes two different types of prompts and allows users to choose one picture prompt, one word prompt or even one of each to base their entry around! captain solo. has employed a very simple premise for her contest which can appeal to so many people.

Within the word prompts there are options to choose dialogue prompts if that's what appeals to a user the most. Be sure to check out both the photo and word prompt lists before writing one of them off - this could be the contest that makes you surprise yourself.
