Alex really has broken down some walls. I didn't expect Zack to admit that he was gay so soon in the story, but I'm glad that he did. Hopefully he'll be able to help out with Caleb's situation.

For Zack Merrick, school isn’t exactly an enjoyable thing. He’s quiet – he has been ever since the 4th grade when an older kid on his bus started pushing him around and teasing him for wearing glasses. The teasing only got worse when he found out Zack had a learning disability. Thankfully, though, he wasn’t in that school for very long. He was switched out almost as quickly as he was enrolled. Sometimes, there were perks to being placed in five different foster homes located all around New York a year.

Zack’s palms get sweaty and his head starts to hurt. Alex’s questions are getting more and more personal as the days go by.

I can see this being a good and very bad thing...

Zack had never, ever been more disappointed about that in his life.

‘Is everything okay at home?’ Yes. ‘Are you having some trouble with your classes?’ No. ‘Is there anything wrong at all?’ Alex Gaskarth is stalking me.

“Who are you looking for?”

“You don’t see Alex anywhere, do you?”

“The kid who was at our house on Saturday?”

Zack nods. “Yes.”

Nick does a quick look around the parking lot. “No. Why?”

“No reason.”

“Uh oh. You like him, don’t you?” Nick asks, a small smirk forming on his face. As Zack shakes his head and moves to open the car door, he slams down the lock button, keeping Zack in place.

“I’m going to be late!” Zack whines, trying to manually unlock his door, but Nick holds down the button. “Seriously!”

“Honestly – Zack, are you gay? You’ve avoided answering that question for months now. Time to face the truth.”

This was amazing for me to read.
I seriously woke my dad up laughing.
It's two am and he wasn't very happy.
But he can deal!

Zack shrugs. He doesn’t feel like explaining to Alex exactly where he went yesterday in order to avoid the boy with the tendency to stalk his life.

But him stalking you would be awesome! - I mean bad very bad! lol

Alex is just being nice because he feels bad for you, he reminds himself. He doesn’t really like you.

Alex could easily poke him with his pencil, maybe start up a game of tic-tac-toe, or hangman, but Jack is staring at the board, intently taking notes. Alex lets out a soft sigh. His friend is such a dweeb.

This ironically sounds like me, being Alex, and my best friend Courtney, beng Jack, in class.

He just can’t, though. He’s too …nervous. Today is Friday, and that means he’s seeing Zack after school. At his house. He’s not too sure how it’s going to go. The kid’s quiet, and Alex wonders if he’ll talk at all.

When the bell finally rings, Alex nearly falls out of his seat. He’d been staring blankly at the teacher while she spoke, his eyes glazing over. He completely forgot that the bell would be ringing - until it actually did. As he packs away his books, he hears Jack laughing and mocking him – ‘you are such a spazz’ – but he ignores him.

*laughs*

But now, it’s a bit inconvenient, seeing as Caleb isn’t speaking to them.

For some reason, Alex can’t quite get his mind around it. Does this mean that Zack trusts him? It must, because he wouldn’t just tell anyone that he’s gay. Somehow, over the past week, Alex thinks that he’s successfully broken down part of the barrier that Zack keeps up. “Well, I’m glad you told me,” he finally says, his voice soft. He reaches out and pulls Zack gently into his body, his arms wrapping around the boy slowly for a hug. “I’m glad you trusted me enough to tell me.”

*squeals*

I enjoyed seeing things from Zack's point of view. It's nice to know what he thinks about the whole Alex situation, as well as school in general. I find it adorable how he's been avoiding Alex at school, yet gets all flustered when he held the door open.
