I feel that if you wouldn't kill your pet dog to eat it, then it's not right to do to another animal.

That sounds harsh, but that's what I believe.

I stopped eating meat becuase it's flesh. Yes, it tastes delicious, but I'm not going to have an animal live a terrible and short life just so I can have a delicious meal. Other meals can be delicious too.

    I'm against animals for food.

I understand that most people feel that they need it to survive, but they really don't. It would be nearly impossible so suddenly just stop eating meat altogether without wanting to do so. Meat isn't a necessity in life to humans. It definetly was at some point (think cavemen), but now, that's just silly.

No being, animal or human, deserves to live a life of (usually) pain and suffering just to be killed for another being. In wildlife, it's different. Those animals DO need it to live, and they do help to comtrol the population, but aren't humans smarter than that? If we, as a species, can invent something as grand as the computer, surely we can learn to control the population of some animals.

This may sound silly and childish, but I'm trying to get some people to relate. I wouldn't like it if aliens came down to earth and made us mate, and later killed us all for a food source that was not essential to their needs. Most animals at these farms only live to a quarter of their expected lifespan, due to the conditions they are kept in and used for.

So, I'm agaist the eating of meat. Sure, maybe kill some off once in a while to keep the population under control, but it's really gotten out of hand, and I believe something needs to be done about it.

Also if we hunted for our food, we'd lose that weight we keep gaining and learn more survival skills so when the zombies do attack, we'll be prepared. :D (sorry the zombie thing is a joke about what will happen in 2012... personal, I don't believe anything will actually happen). So those girls who are worried about their carbs, well... just hunt for your food like you would do when you are hunting for a prom dress or a wedding dress. :D it's great exercise I say.

I agree that we should just hunt for our food, because let's face the facts that we aren't physically fit as we can be.
Personally, I believe of things that happen for a reason. Humans are a very big exception to that, because we basically changed this earth to how we want it. Now we just sit on computer all day (haha, I'm one of them) and just write about some things that will never effect our lives in the future or ever in fact.
I, personally, can never be a vegetarian due to the fact that I hate vegetables and meat makes up for most of my small meals. But then again, I don't like the fact that they pump steroids into a cow until he's nicely muscular and pale, probably insane from having his personal area invaded by hundreds of cows, and being chopped up into sixteen packages (I really don't know how many packages they can produce from one cow) to only have two sold due to the fact that the other fourteen packages are wasted. And don't get me started on how they only use certain parts of the cow.
Sadly, I feel like it's a bit too late to realize our mistake of dominating, because now they are dependent on us for their needs. Then again, I believe in some impossible possibilities. :D

Vegitarian is a personal opinion. It effects me greatly because i am a vegitarian. Have been for 3 years now.
I do know for a fact, that it a proper function of the food chain, but i don't like the taste of meat, nor do i like the fact that innocent animals are dying for my satisfaction.

In the Bible, I know for a fact that it says that humans should hunt and eat meat. Besides, if we suddenly stopped eating cows/pigs/ect. right now...they would overpopulate. If we let them go, they will just die. Many domestic animals rely on humans to take care of them (except cats...) lol

and, if animals where not farmed in the first place, then the population would have never been raised and thier food sources would have stayed under contol. thier natural preditors would most likely keep the population under control and we would not have issues with animals.

HA! I'm a vegitarian and i get everything i need from a meat free diet. i do not take vitamins or suplaments or even eat tofu or soy on a regular basis.
i also do not have a crazy diet.
meat is unneccisary in the human diet. if you cut out meat from your diet and learn just where you can get what you need then you will be healthier and most likely you will pay less for food.
nuts, beans and dairy are excelent sources of protien and some have great amounts of amino acids.
many people do not understand exactly what it is like to be a vegitarian or the reasons why most people are veg.

Large conglomerate companies are what mainly mistreat the animals before they kill them. Private farms are better for treating their animals properly. As for using that one pipe shooting gun to kill the cows, its one of the few ways you can penetrate a cows skull. A regular gun/bullet will not kill it. I see the pipe gun being far more humane than cutting its throat, or cutting its belly while alive(A lot of large american meat conglomerates do that.) My uncle owned a meat ranch, he always tried to be as humane with the cows as possible. And they lived good lives, they had their run of almost 200 acres of pasture and he fed them hormone free fodder. I also see a meat farm quite often as it is across from a rural hall where all the local metal shows are. Once again the cows have free run of many acres of land and I have never seen less than 100 cows out there at a time. From what I have seen in my family vacations across the areas where meat farms are prevalent( Alberta, Saskatchewan) I have always seen the cows outside, never caged and crammed together. And there was one chicken farm where the chickens were caged, but it was swiftly shut down upon discovery. But I guess that animal rights laws may just be more strictly enforced in the provinces I have been to.

"i don't get why that's so wrong to some people."

For many, it's because of the way animals are treated.

i agree with -MyCookieDoughKiss-. diseases WOULD spread and the population would sky rocket. i live in Minnesota, and they encourage deer hunting because the population raises so much during the year, did u know that? and people r on a notch on the food chain like everything else in this world- it's life, guys. it's not like people are going on a killing spree killing animals. everything just needs to eat... right?? i don't get why that's so wrong to some people.

I'm sorry too, I got a little frustrated jsut as you did and me saying that was no better. I understand that some of the comments may have frustrated/angered/upset you. And I do feel a little mean for attacking you like that.

And I do admit to epic failure. I should've put my real emotion into it. Sometimes I was just frustrated, though, and I obviously took a few comments the wrong way.

I was trying to debate, not attack. I guess I got a little too defensive with you, and I might've with some others.

And I'm very sorry I took your last comment that way.

No, not all of them are intolerant. I guess I shouldn't have said that or at least re-worded it. It was rather irrelevant, anyways.

I was not trying to attack anyone, and I'm sorry if it seemed that way. I was just trying to show them a different side. I guess I should've thought over my posts more, however.
