Also, we are different from other meat-eating animals, because we do not need the meat. If they don't eat meat, they'll die. If we don't eat meat, we'll be fine if we're careful with our diet.

"jeesh
animals eat other animals, too
we do it for food
a way to survive'

We do not need them to survive. We can get all of the nutrition we need from plants. Even the ADA agrees. Go check their position statement.

animals eat other animals, too
we do it for food
a way to survive

it's when people kill animals for clothes
now that is stupid
but people eat mean to survive
its protein and all that good stuff
and if people are vegetarian then good for them, y'know?
but i don't think its a bad thing to eat meat
either way they are gonna get killed anyway
whether it be from other animals, natural causes, or people eating them
that's just my opinion, though

@Marilyn Monroe Not farm animals like cows, because they are domesticated. Even if everyone were to go vegan this second, the farmers would not release them into the wild.

I feel bad for the animals, but at the same time.. I don't think I'd stop eating meat because of it. Humans have been killing animals for a long time. It's a cycle, and it's not just going to stop.

Besides, if we don't kill the deer, cows, etc. like we do, they'd over populate anyway and die out from starvation. There are so many of them, that we can't just let them all be free and happy-happy. Either way, they're going to suffer.

There is a fine line between fighting and debating.

True... but I do sometimes question that on Mibba, though. >.>

Sorry if I indeed sound mean. I am not trying to fight with anyone. There is a fine line between fighting and debating.

Haha that sounded mean but I don't care 'cause it seems like you're actually trying to spark a debate/fight with people.

Yes, we've established that from your 80 trillion comments already.

I still don't see how it is natural for us to kill animals. Just saying.

Are we supposed to keep our mouths shut and our eyes closed? Our minds closed to the others' opinion?

But... I've read your opinion already and I disagree with it completely. So, why should I debate about it with you anymore? I get where you stand, and I've already explained to you where I stand. We could go back in fourth as to why I think it's normal animal instinct and as to why you think it's not but the end result is going to be the same. You're not going to change your mind and I'm not going to change my mind.

That's why I said this debate is never going to end, though. 'Cause people are still going to go back and fourth about it when neither side is right or wrong.

I don't know if your comment was in any way directly at me at all, but I am merely debating, not fighting.

With our current situation, more and more Vegetarians and Vegans are arising, and soon enough, the meat and dairy industries won't be able to support themselves with their slowly diminishing income. Either way, they're doomed to end.

Haha ! XDDD
You're not serious, right? Humans have been eating meat for centuries to survive. Just because vegans / vegetarians are coming into the scene, doesn't mean the meat industry is going to diminish. And due to personal experience -- and being part of an Hispanic family -- meat eaters (or carnivores) are not dying out any time soon. A lot of humans don't have that kind of self control. And many animals like ourselves are the exact same way; it's still survival of the fittest in this cruel world.
Yet teenagers these days still want a cause to fight about; in truth, there isn't. There's nothing wrong with eating meat and dairy products; just like there's nothing wrong with eating plants. Just let people be. Seriously.

"So what if they are slaughtered?"

It's not that they're slaughtered; it's what they go through while they're living on this earth.

"I don't see why people care about what happened to the cow before it died. "

Because the animal most-likely suffered. By eating meat, we increase the supply and demand for meat, which means more animals will be bred. That means that more animals will have to go through what the others did.

I am not condemning people for eating meat, nor do I dislike or hate anyone who eats meat. If I disliked or hated people for eating meat, I'd be disliking almost the entire world population.

"This debate is never going to end. Let people eat meat if they want to. And if people want to just eat veggies, let 'em just eat veggies. Eating meat isn't wrong, eating veggies isn't wrong."

Are we supposed to keep our mouths shut and our eyes closed? Our minds closed to the others' opinion?

"What I think is hilarious is that veggies go on and on about killing animals being wrong, when they eat vegitables grown in crops. Do you know how many animals farmers kill in order to keep their crops healthy? Loads."

Loads more are killed for the meat industry. At least we're doing something. Most people do nothing to help anyone out.

NOTE: I am NOT trying to be offensive.
==

"They were fed, cared for, given shelter and medicine (if they were ever sick)."
Actually, sometimes they are not given medicine and are just considered a "downed" animal.

Quote from http://www.farmsanctuary.org/get_involved/update_downed_animal_act08.html:

"Downed animals, livestock too weak or sick to even stand on their own, are some of the most abused by the animal agriculture industry. They may be beaten, dragged with chains or pushed with forklifts in order to move them to the killing floor, all for the sake of profit."
---
"Humans kind of need food to live and meat is a part of many people's diets, including mine."
Actually, we do not need it. We can get the vitamins we get from meat from other sources, like cereal, nuts, etc. (see my earliest comments.)
---
"If it weren't for meat, I don't think we'd be here today because humans would have died out from starvation. ('Cause remember back then, we didn't know how to grow crops and we weren't able to, as a species, live completely off of plant life.)"
That was thousands of years ago.

---

"But I can guarantee that if there came a time that I didn't have food and was starving, I'd kill an animal and eat it faster than you could blink."

Would you happen to be starving right now?

==========

This is quoted exactly from the ADA position statement:
"Well-planned vegan and lacto-ovo-vegetarian diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including during pregnancy and lactation. Appropriately planned vegan and lacto-ovo-vegetarian diets satisfy nutrient needs of infants, children, and adolescents and promote normal growth (37)."
